Jimmy was not just a great writer, musician and performer...He was a true gentleman...If, you ever talked to him you'd know...He never wanted to talk about music...He wanted to hear about you as a person...It doesn't get more intimate or beautiful than that....I miss you Jimmy RIP

      -
I met him! on a frozen starry night just like tonight in beautiful New Hampshire.
Jimmy did not like zero degrees F, with high winds. It was even cold inside the venue!
To meet him was to love him!
Too hear him was to get addicted to his beautiful music!
      i really miss him.
Imagine all the great songs he would have written!

I don't know how I made it almost 37 years in life without stumbling into the hidden gem known as Jimmy Lafave. But I sure am glad I found him. He's flipped my life upside down and it hasn't even been 24 hours since I discovered it.

@@nickb3510 Yes, I completely understand!!! His songs are always fresh, no matter how many times I hear them. My favorites are Into your life, Never is a moment, Give your sweet love to me (a masterpiece), Never be mine, I walk along with you, Sweetheart like you. Even his covers are better than the originals. I hope he knew how deeply he touched people's hearts and souls. I have a Spotify playlist of the songs I just listed that i play all the time. They move me every time.

Jimmy would play in the bars at Stillwater ( back in the day) and draw you in from the sidewalk with his soulful singing! Once, while walking down the 'Strip' by Willie's, I heard him singing inside...had to go in! Didn't know who he was until that evening.

Somehow I had forgotten Jimmy and his great music and voice , my memory ain't what it used to be. I watched Otis Gibbs and it was about Jimmy , lord I'm so glad I did. It's been like reuniting with an old friend. I love the way he covers"walk away Rene" I've always liked the song but his voice can make me cry and smile at the same time.

That's funny. I feel that way about John Prine, who, via the youtube algorithm suggested some Iris Dement. Was listening to her and bam! Jimmy Lafave. Damn I'm so grateful for that suggestion. This has been an amazing day acquainting myself with his music

I used to listen to Jimmy back in the day, but I too had forgotten him. I was COMPLETELY taken aback when scrolling through John Prine tributes (my all time favorite songwriter), I came across Jimmy ..Jimmy Lafave!! Oh my heart! My heart literally skipped a beat. This happened about 4 hours ago and I have been listening to him since. 'What's a Sweetheart Like You Doing in a Place Like This' has been one of my favorites of his. His unique voice, his songwriting, his presence ALL make me soooo happy. ❤❤❤
.... yes, still trying to figure out why I lost him in the first place ... ✌❤
