I was fortunate enough to meet Jimmy LaFave after he had only been a Austin resident for 2 weeks. He was a true friend from that day on. And he has made a impression on my spirit ever since.
First came across Jimmy a few years ago. Was looking for covers of walk away Rene; and he absolutely nailed it. Then I heard , not dark yet (Dylan). Everything he touched turned into gold! Then when you dive into his catalogue; you realise that he is not a well man. Damn jimmy. You were the beans! For the curious, check out Gary Brooker doing a whiter shade of pale (he wrote it) with an orchestra…
With a beautiful voice and soul like this. He should have been one of the greatest artist of our time. Thank you RUclips for me discovering such a wonderful singer and song writer ❤️. RIP Jimmy and thank you very much
@@jaycurlee He 100% deserved to be much bigger, however maybe it's a blessing in disguish fame isn't always good for the artist. But it sounds like he got reckognition from big artists themselves though atleast, and a loyal fanbase ;).
I think he had already been diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma by this time, and sadly passed away in May 2017, just six months later. I fell in love with Jimmy's unique voice and talents back in 1992 in Austin, when his debut CD "Austin Skyline" was released. He is missed dearly.

Better late than never to discover such a beautiful and unique voice
