Absolutely do NOT use duct tape on car paint, especially on older paint as it may peal off clear coat or at the least leave harder to remove adhesive. Simply buy some inexpensive painters or masking tape.
Who on earth would use Duct tape (Gaffa tape) for a job like this? It's far too strong. Just asking for trouble. The next thing you will need is a paint job!

Don't use clear coat. Use 303 UV protector. You want have to sand it again.

The only time I used duct tape for masking on my car it pulled paint off when I removed it. Not a good choice.
Give it 3 weeks..you need new lights, cheap on amazon, got 2 for $88

Noooo! DO NOT USE HEAVY DUTY DUCK TAPE ON YOUR CAR! It will peal the top coat off! Use only masking tape!
