    Definition of genius is taking the complicated and making it simple… this is not that. Just pay $20 for an OBD-II memory saver without the risk of sparks flying.

    This guy is making it too complicated and too dangerous. Avoid this method at all cost or else one slip and you will fry your car's electronics or fry the battery itself. This video is a danger signal.

    As I said in my prior post, great video! I tackled this job today. Overall it went smoothly. One major snag that I ran into was the struts I purchased from RockAuto were not the correct ones for my van. I have an eight-seater but for some reason the struts on mine are the same as those listed at most auto parts stores as being for the seven passenger van. Ended up having to purchase the seven passenger struts from advance Auto. The only ones they had in stock were the carquest brand. Would it much rather been able to use the Monroe ones I bought from RockAuto. The issue was with the sway bar link. The hole for the sway bar link on my van is about four and a half inches above the top strut bolt. The ones from RockAuto were 5 and a half inches. I think the struts were also longer because I could not get the struggles to line up either. Most part stores list the struts for the 8 passenger van as being the same as those for the all-wheel drive model. I wonder whether this is accurate. My struts were OEM as I purchase the van with very low miles on it and I know this is the first time the struts have been replaced. So I wonder if it's possible that the 7 passenger and 8 passenger struts are the same and only the all-wheel drive model requires a different part. Also, on your video the nuts for the strut bolts were on the front side of the vehicle. Mine were on the rear side. Other sienna videos I saw also had the nuts of the rear side. Not sure if it makes a difference or not but thought I would mention it for others.

      Only remove trunk lid to change the blinker fluid. We have a 07 and I have done the strut change already, and end links, but the front end sure is noisy. Van really hauls ass though, for real. There aren't many vehicles on the road that can hang with the 3.5 Toyota V6. From 70 to 100 mph, this van will blow your mind. 278 HP in a minivan is pretty cool.

    Very good job on pointing out that the filter bolts are two or three different lengths. That's the fucking Nissan for ya. Not to sound like a grandma, but not using chocks along with ramps is never a good idea. Do you really trust the parking brake on a vehicle with over 250k miles with your life? I sure as hell dont. Floor jack and stands on a level and hard suirface is a lot safer. There's a much easier way to track which one goes where on the filter. Take the replacement filter and lay it onto the cardboard with the fluid pickup facing down. Then simply place the bolts inside the new filter holes as you remove them one by one to remove the old filter. Once you remove the old filter, inspect it and drain any fluid trapped inside. Place it next to the new filter and move the bolts over to the matching holes in the old filter. Install the new filter. When it comes to the pan gasket, spend a few bucks extra on a gasket that is either reinforced with metal or a "third hand" style where the holes in the rubber are smaller and hold the pan bolts. As for the tranny pan being a bit large, just close your eyes and imagine trying to remove if there was no drain plug and you had to drop it with two fucking gallons of tranny fluid sloshing inside.

No need for two sets of jumper wires or another car battery except the new replacement battery. There is also a devise to connect to the OBD port that provides redundancy or aux power to the car while you are fiddling with the battery connectors so you won't loose your programing. OBD

      @@JB73691 Hey. Don't blame you for being nervous, lots of wires to consider and exercising caution when hooking up and disconnecting. Basically though, one is using an auxiliary power source, whether spare battery or a charger to provide electricity to the main computer while swapping out the dead battery. Depends on what equipment is available at the time and the "cost". One could also use an inexpensive and simple OBD2 analyser/memory saver device that plugs into the port and connects to a power source (battery/charger). So much easier and safer without fuss of the wires. Check out the Chris Fix recent UTUBE channel episode on "Complete Battery Maintenance" (all of Chris' stuff is REALLY GOOD) or those of Scotty Kilmer, the "Master". The batteries to both my vehicles died during the recent frigid -31C snap here in Toronto; both were about 5+ years old. I used the OBD2 memory device plus a 12 volt lawn tractor battery when replacing both. It was so easy! They are simple, easy to use and CHEAP, decent ones cost less than $20.00 on Amazon.

    Great video! I have the S5C too and while its not making the grinding noise yours did, I cant get mine to just hover (yes Ive tried the calibration and trimming it to no avail it still wants to drift backwards and to the right. And with all the videos out there about drones (and the S5C specifically) this is the only one that goes into how to repair one. Now I wonder if getting brushless motors for it might make it perform better. Just too bad that you have to use Ali Express to get parts (I seriously think that alot of the stuff on Ali Express is just as suspect as an Ebay seller with suspicious reviews and a low score), the estimated delivery if I ordered today is Nov 21st! A Post card from China doesnt take that long and it didnt show an option for anything but free delivery. But finding spare parts for anything but FPV drones is next to impossible (at least for anything with-in the USA).

    Hey just a suggestion. With the lower ball joint that you sawed the end off - you could have gotten the nut off without doing that, by unseating the ball joint after loosening the nut. Just nut the bottom of the spindle, where the bolt goes through. Hit it right there on the side with a hammer, HARD, and it'll separate the ball joint. Then you can pull it down from the bottom and spin the nut off.

    • @travismorgan3252
      @travismorgan3252 2 года назад

      I've never once used a ball-joint separator. Hammer works, every time. Don't hit the ball joint. Hit the knuckle where the ball joint passes thru it (right below the nut).
