This month has a been a freaking monster on my wallet with all the rpgs releasing starting off w/ ff7r then trails of mana . All the borderlands games remastered comes out 5/29 and then Outer Worlds On 6/5 I need more money... I’m still not finish dq 11
Take a break from spending dude. Beat the games you have backlogged & that will give you plenty of time to enjoy those games & the new games will drop in price (probably) by then
@@francesfuego6950 lol definitely hold off on borderlands and outer worlds. Those are big games and they're 3rd party so more likely to go on sale in the future. Try to finish the games you have first :).
When I played the game first on the 3DS I wanted it to never end. I feared the ending because it was SO good! Yes, this game is magical and if you want to have an experience that changes you you've got to play this game. It's my all-time favourite.
If I was forced to only pick 5 RPG's (American AND Japanese) to take on a deserted island (where the island somehow had a tv and electricity) this game would definitely be one of them.
Overwhelming amount? We're in the middle of the longest drought of good games in Nintendo's history. It's sad when a port of a 10 year old game is the only thing worth getting mildly excited about on the Switch.
I absolutely adore Xenoblade for the Wii. I'm sure it's amazing on the Switch, but I don't think I could ever put in another 100+ hours into an experience I already had - as great as it was.
I am happy to play this game for the first time, I never got the luxury to do that before. I've been a fan of the Xeno series forever. I actually love XC2 so I'm excited to play this.
I gave this a chance on the "New" 3DS, and for some reason I just lost interest. But now it's been re-released and given some quality of life changes, and the oppotunity to play it on a big screen TV, I'm giving this another shot. It's extremely rare that I give a game another chance.
Some keys. 1.) change playable character often . It switches up game play as each character plays unique. 2.) don’t just play mmo triangle for your party ( tank dps healer) multiple different make ups work extremely well also healer is probably least useful character in game
I’m playing it on switch lite it looks way better then i expected and I’ve had no slow down or problems yet . Also I think they did a good job teaching you everything in this game . A lot of stuff but like John said it’s not that hard to pick up .
I agree with you, honestly I couldn't get into Xenoblade 2, people kept telling me it gets better half way through but I'm not going to spend over 30 hours for the game to get enjoyable, however xenoblade chronicles 1 is an amazing game. I played it for the Wii and I absolutely loved it, from gameplay to story and now with reimagined graphics, I'll deff pick this up once I'm ride of my giant backlog of games and after TLOU2.
Got this coming tomorrow. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Completed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 it was a masterpiece, can't wait to finally play Xenoblade as it should have been from the Wii days.
Only just picked this up, can’t say I’ve played much JRPG’s, but this game really blindsided me. Cannot put it down, the story is so captivating and the gameplay loop is really fun!
I literally paid for this game three times. $90 on Wii. $40 on 3ds. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the collectors edition copy $60 for the switch version. I never do that for a game if I still own the console.
is it that good/worth it? How does it fare compared to these JRPGS I've played - FF10 ps2, Star Ocean ps2, Persona 4 Golden Vita, FF CC Wii, FFXIII ps3, Dragon Quest 11 Switch I've never played a Xeno Saga/blade game
Can't Park Jihyo She's a Train It is worth it. I suggest that you get a guide online for beginners. There is a lot to learn but it does guide you, having played the new one for about four hours now. All those games that you mentioned are absolutely fantastic. I’ve played all of those games except for final fantasy 13. I think it has a better story than all of them that you mentioned and you will love the characters, by the time you’re 1/4 through. The combat is different and has a more action deal. I was initially taken back when I first played this because I love traditional JRPGs. The switch version is a lot more easier to get into then Wii version. Dragon quest 11 is my second favorite game of all time. Understanding the combat and using the guide until you get to the first boss is key to knowing what to do. You will get sucked in by the story. You’re always learning something new as the game progresses. The switch version guides you pretty well. This is my favorite game of all time. There is some nostalgia in it for me. Dragon Quest 11 in such a close second.
I honestly couldn’t find it either, if you look at Walmart’s site and search xenoblade chronicles, the second option down is the works set. And they ship it to you. It’s still in stock, I just checked.
Kenneth Felipe gotcha. I wasn’t sure if you wanted the works set or not, I was just letting you know if you wanted to purchase it. Either way it’s a stellar game!
Just finish this game few days ago and I gotta say. Can't believe this game originally came out so many years ago in wii and 3DS. Such an ambitious open world game with great story, music, combat mechanics and character. 10/10 well worth it. From someone who just finished XC2 few months ago.
I’m so glad I managed to snag a copy of the collector’s edition here in the UK. I can’t wait to receive the vinyl soundtrack that comes included in the set!!
Me too (though I live in Sweden), and I don´t even own anything to play that soundtrack on, but just to have it as a "show piece" is enough for me. Looking forward to spend another 150h+ in this game!
All all the US gets is an awkwardly shaped art book... I really wish size and shapes of books were more standardized... My book collection looks so messy even though they are neatly arranged...
Thanks for all these great reviews and videos. I discovered your channel a few months back and really enjoy watching with my son. Again, great channel :)
Loved XC2. Never played the original so looking forward to it. Bought the European collectors edition. Loving the fact it comes with a vinyl soundtrack. So jealous you got your hands on this early. You lucky bugger. Will be doing a review and unboxing on my channel this weekend.
XC2 is an alright game, but it has a lot of problems. XC1, however, is a genuine masterpiece, I envy the fact that you get to experience this game for the first time!
You’re not gonna be disappointed. This one is better than Xenoblade 2. two is a great game but this one is so much better. This is my favorite game of all time.
This is the best review I've seen of this game. I'm definitely getting this edition, will be my first time playing it as a new player into the franchise. I'M REALLY FEELING IT
Got the game on release, never played the original edition but I'm loving it already and learning the combat was hard at first but felt so satisfying finally figuring it out. I'm very excited for what the rest of the game has is store 😁
I love how you review games. You have a way in pumping up the interest and really going in simple details about the reasons a game is worth playing. You did it for Trails of Cold Steel, Trials of Mana Remake, and FF7 Remake! Great review. Finally, now I wanna be one of the new player to get into this game! It reminds me of FF12 where you're just out there in the open world exploring and I like that aspect and deep storyline. Sweet! Thank goodness I got myself a switch! The soundtrack sounds nice!
I played the original when it came out not knowing much about it and it quickly became one of, if not my favourite game ever; I love everything about it, the exploration, the combat, the characters, the story, the soundtrack. I got it again on the switch and I still love it as much as when i first played it.
Well, I'm a first time player of this game. 30 hours in, and it has been since Breath Of The Wild and Octopath Traveler that I have wanted to KEEP playing a game, after that amount of time, because I was so excited about it. You nailed this video! Great review!
Super excited for this to unlock on Friday. It’s going to be so good to return to XB1 with all the new content. I imagine it will remain my favorite in the Xenoblade series.
Didn't have the time to play the original on the Wii when it first came out even though i own it, when i finally got around to it years later i just couldn't stomach the resolution anymore and stopped playing after a few hours. Same for the 3DS version. I really can't wait to finally experience the game with updated visuals, the newly arranged music sounds amazing as well.
Sadly they said it's highly unlikely that will happen due to how that game was build. Appearantly there are issues with the architecture so it's very hard to port that over to the Switch :( I hope they find a way though, i love that game, bought my wiiU specially for that game. Only one of the very few games i have for it and still boot it up every now and then.
I thought that the exploration was a blast, but the gameplay was a huge step down from the original, as were the story, art style, and characters. Plus, I much prefer having a main character with a design and a personality over a stand in OC. I would be curious to see an X2 that irons out a lot of the original's kinks, though.
It's been a while since i watched one of your videos. Excited to pick this up. I just beat XB2 and was almost in tears at the end because of how impactful it was on me. If XB1 is anything close, i am sure i will fall in love all over again. thanks for being so positive!
Thank you very much for the sharing! Glad to know Nintendo shows the hidden map 10 years after the 1st release. Prouldly being a memeber of the creative team, Xenoblade is the largest world map concept I ever involved during the 25 years working for the game industry. Hope you enjoy it and a salut to Takahashi, Mistsuda and all amazing fellows in Nintendo/Monolith. T.K. 4th June2020

I only got 20 hours out of 2 because my progression was gated by an ability of Poppis.. because I didnt level her up enough so Im a little hesitant to try another in the series thats not on sale
Your reviews are great. Pretty much sold me on the game. I played part of the original but never beat it. This looks like a great way to take on this classic again. I really hope the sidequest system is as streamlined as you make it out to be. It became very overwhelming in the original.
Just picked it up today, played through a bunch of the Wii version but never finished it (was also turned off by the blurriness back then) can't wait to dive back in

I was hoping you might have commented on whether the non-selected party member AI was improved from the original game or not. I put over 90 hours into Xenoblade 1 on my play-through on the Wii and while I would rate the game 9/10, it was not without its flaws. One major problem I had with the game was the crap AI for my party's tank. I had to switch from DPSing as Shulk to tanking as Dunban for the last 10-15% of the game because Dunban's AI couldn't keep up tanking on his own and my party members were dying. As fun as tanking is in the game, I really would have preferred to DPS all the way to the end.

@@kylerobinson6102 also a shame you didn't get into the game because actually as the story goes down, it gets more interesting. Much more interesting than XC2.
I might be an exception but I picked up on the system pretty quickly, and now that I've put 60 hours into it it kinda hurts to watch people just not get the combat at all lol
Funny how I decided to marathon the xeno series a month ago. I'm currently in disk 2 of xenogears! Well you did tell me about this series years ago. Just weird coincidence that I'm marathoning it when this comes out
Honestly the QoL changes made this game even more enjoyable to play. Trading is much easier to understand and find what you are looking for, the person you are looking for and the item orbs! The item orbs usually ate up a good hour or two whenever I was missing a couple for a quest or the Collectopedia.

Beat the games you have backlogged & that will give you plenty of time to enjoy those games & the new games will drop in price (probably) by then
Sounds like someone's addicted
Blake Fensler Jr think your right I just bought Crystal Crisis . Great game spiritual successor to Super Puzzle Fighter couldn’t resist ...
@@francesfuego6950 lol definitely hold off on borderlands and outer worlds. Those are big games and they're 3rd party so more likely to go on sale in the future. Try to finish the games you have first :).
I have to say Johnny, it's always nice to see uploads from you in these dark times. Your videos bring a lot of positivity to the gaming community!
well.. princess zelda dont say bullshit i tell you that :D
I can't wait to get my hands on my copy! I never played the original so I'm glad I finally can 😁
I'm glad for you! Hope you enjoy it 🥳
Soooo good
Ashara Mahariel me too! I was actually holding off on playing 2 and the other part of 2 until i can play this
meee too..
Yeah dude I enjoyed 2 so so much and have to get this game 😫
20 hours in... playing it with my 5 year old often, he loves it. Love exposing him to JRPG's and not just fortnight junk.
👏🏆
When I played the game first on the 3DS I wanted it to never end. I feared the ending because it was SO good! Yes, this game is magical and if you want to have an experience that changes you you've got to play this game. It's my all-time favourite.
Torna: the Golden Country was my favorite, regarding gameplay and the fight mechanics. It felt like more fun in that version.
I love you
Might be because your team setup is already perfect with all the blades.
They made and excellent game even better . I'm definitely comfortable enough to say this is one of the best Jrpg's made .
If I was forced to only pick 5 RPG's (American AND Japanese) to take on a deserted island (where the island somehow had a tv and electricity) this game would definitely be one of them.
The only thing hotter than the overwhelming amount of switch games are the HappyConsoleGamer Reviews
Oh yeah
Overwhelming amount? We're in the middle of the longest drought of good games in Nintendo's history. It's sad when a port of a 10 year old game is the only thing worth getting mildly excited about on the Switch.
@@meerkat1954 You must be rich and own all the good Switch games... there's plenty...
@@meerkat1954 Well it's a port of one of the best JRPGs of all time. You dont need to downplay it as a simple Wii game

I absolutely adore Xenoblade for the Wii. I'm sure it's amazing on the Switch, but I don't think I could ever put in another 100+ hours into an experience I already had - as great as it was.
I am and I did it with persona 5 and persona 5 royal as well
Handheld mode is perfect honestly been playing it like that most of the time there nothing wrong with it way better than the sequel in handheld mode
I love looking at the clouds in this game, really gives me a laputa castle in the sky feel.
The hype for this game is phenomenal. I personally never played the original so I'm really keen to experience this!
I srsly can't wait for this game to be released 🤤
Lol, merry christmas!!
Had to get this on cartridge, so it's arriving later on today. Have fun!!
I’m playing it on switch lite it looks way better then i expected and I’ve had no slow down or problems yet . Also I think they did a good job teaching you everything in this game . A lot of stuff but like John said it’s not that hard to pick up .
I finally beat it. I finally took a couple of long weekends almost exclusively playing and beat it. It's a hell of a game.
This channel is quickly becoming my favourite. Love the positive vibes.
How does it fare compared to these JRPGS I've played - FF10 ps2, Star Ocean ps2, Persona 4 Golden Vita, FF CC Wii, FFXIII ps3, Dragon Quest 11 Switch
I've never played a Xeno Saga/blade game
Sack Lunch I just got the standard
Kenneth Felipe gotcha. I wasn’t sure if you wanted the works set or not, I was just letting you know if you wanted to purchase it. Either way it’s a stellar game!
60-100 hours for the main game? I was at 300+ and still not 100% done on the OG game LUL :)
I beat it in 50 lmao
On vinyl?! Thats amazing!
I have never played Xenoblade Chronicles so I am looking forward to this release.
I just bought it! Getting it tomorrow, can't wait to start this IP.
The quests rework is very nice. Quests were so confusing in the original, HAHA.
Trying to find the right NPC to finish quests was a nightmare...
I spent probably a total of 30 hours googling quests and where the npcs would be lol
Loved playing this game for my upcoming review!
This is the best review I've seen of this game. I'm definitely getting this edition, will be my first time playing it as a new player into the franchise. I'M REALLY FEELING IT
This all started with Xenogears if anyone remembers ! 😏
Finally it’s here, now I can play in order the three games
They don't go in any order....
@@blakefenslerjr4858 they do tho
Do you know if it unlocks midnight or later on during the day on Friday?
Didn't have the time to play the original on the Wii when it first came out even though i own it, when i finally got around to it years later i just couldn't stomach the resolution anymore and stopped playing after a few hours. Same for the 3DS version. I really can't wait to finally experience the game with updated visuals, the newly arranged music sounds amazing as well.
Buy it enough said looking forward to getting it in a days time in Australia
I ordered on Amazon and they emailed saying won't be delivered till Tuesday. I might have to cancel and venture outside and get it.
Anthony Harris yeah should would be worth getting it
@@deadkodo you could always download it, it will almost certainly available today (the 28th) at 9pm pst
Only one left is xenoblade x to be ported to the switch
Sadly they said it's highly unlikely that will happen due to how that game was build. Appearantly there are issues with the architecture so it's very hard to port that over to the Switch :( I hope they find a way though, i love that game, bought my wiiU specially for that game. Only one of the very few games i have for it and still boot it up every now and then.
Let's not forget that there was Xenoblade Chronicles X as well, on the Wii U. I quite enjoyed that one too.
Is this combat system just attack/heal ? Or more like attack/block/dodge/heal sometimes ? Thanx
Really excited about this release, even though I have bought it twice in the past!
Hopefully there is a loop when the song "Unfinished Battle" begins to play.
Unfortunately there isn't...
This is a masterpiece, go buy it, everyone.
Not at $60. Don't support anticonsumer moves, everyone.
@The Ostrich It's precisely because I have a job that I know the value of money. You're likely a little kid who has never worked in their life, or a Nintendo fanboy who defends everything Nintendo does like a little bitch. Which are you?
@@dreamerabe I'm sorry you refuse to pay a reasonable price for a phenomenal game, you have my pity.
@@Benjamillion Reasonable price? This is a remaster of a 10 year old game at full price. If EA or Activision did this they would rightfully get shitted on. But because it's Nintendo the fanboy lapdogs defend it. You corporate fanboys are sad.

Your reviews are great. Pretty much sold me on the game. I played part of the original but never beat it. This looks like a great way to take on this classic again. I really hope the sidequest system is as streamlined as you make it out to be. It became very overwhelming in the original.
Patiently waiting for my EU collectors edition :(
Good heavens, it's Reyn time!
just realized i have all 3 versions of this game (Wii, 3DS, and now switch) been playing this one on switch for the past week and really enjoying it.

Okay Johnny, which RPG is better in your personal opinion, this, or YS VIII? 😁
Great review Johnny!
Never played it and I'm unsure which music I should go for, original or arranged. Which should I go for?
I was hoping you might have commented on whether the non-selected party member AI was improved from the original game or not. I put over 90 hours into Xenoblade 1 on my play-through on the Wii and while I would rate the game 9/10, it was not without its flaws.
One major problem I had with the game was the crap AI for my party's tank. I had to switch from DPSing as Shulk to tanking as Dunban for the last 10-15% of the game because Dunban's AI couldn't keep up tanking on his own and my party members were dying. As fun as tanking is in the game, I really would have preferred to DPS all the way to the end.
Third time buying this game ready to play thru it all over again. Now I just need them to port XCX to switch so I can play that again too!
I didn't really like XCX very much. I bought the Special Edition and wound up selling it with my Wii U. I tried to get into it but I just couldn't.
I'd rather have a sequel.

I'm not sure I'd agree with you about being a really simple RPG, the combat system takes a bit of time to get your head around even for jrpg vets

I wanted to know one important thing because I am trying to decide how to buy (digital or physical)... Is the game all on the cartridge? Or does it need a huge download?
Good job as always! Will you do a review of Ys memories of celesta for ps4? I want to thank you for introducing the Ys series for me!
