Way to go ‘little dirt!! Get in there to get the job done. Trying new things to try to make the job easier, work smarter not harder right? Trying to lay on your belly to weld seemed easier until you tried it. At least you tried it, found out it wouldn’t work then tired it a different way. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but you won’t know unless you true it. I say good job in exploring your limitations. Diet showed us your welds after you went in. I must say that’s pretty impressive for an adult that alone a 10 year old kid. Keep doing amazing things and not lose interest. Keep practicing and working with dad and before you know it in a couple years dad will be asking you questions how to do things. Dad has to be one proud papa, heck I’m proud of you I can only imagine how big Doug’s head is to have a talented guy like you for his son. Keep up the great job and wanting to learn.

Only advice I can give you is too not overlap the metal. Like the long piece you laid in the floor. I would have done like you did but tack it in and cut the edge with the cut off wheel before you start sticking it down. Lay your tacks and get it kind of formed then start cutting and welding it in. A vise is an easy way to bend sheet metal. Try and cut enough of the old stuff out to remove the rot and to get an idea of your bends. That way you don't have to cut a perfect patch and your not overlapping metal. Cut a slit, weld and when your done the old piece will just fall out. Don't be afraid to make relief cuts and weld it together. If you got your cut off wheel in that corner and made a relief, it would have bent right into place
I Don't like that whole part of floor I'd like to cut it back out and do it right but waste nit want not. I totally agree with everything you say bud thanks
