Very kind indeed Ryan - but only 20K? XD Haha, jokes aside, thank you very much! I’m really happy with how the channel has been going. I suspect the content might be lacking a little bit in “entertainment” value for many, a bit “dry” as it’s often quite procedural; but that’s the way I wanted it to be (for the most part) and I know that will attract some and not others. It has its own little niche. We’ve already surpassed my wildest expectations; I’m just super glad to be able to bring people content that I enjoy making and others seem to enjoy watching (though I wouldn’t say no to 20K of course ; ) Once step at a time. Here’s to the next 7K! : D Thanks very much once again and all the best!
great stuff. I'd almost given up on an update for the Corsair but my word this was worth waiting for! In my opinion this update has changed this plane from a good addon to an absolutely superb one, right up there with the best. The feel of the entire thing is now amazing in VR, the scaling changes, removal of the glass parralax and indeed the ability to declutter the coaming are all super welcome. Having to manually control the boost adds to the workload but also the immersion of course. This is now a 'must have' . All the best and looking forward to more great reviews!
Haha, I was expecting it would be weeks, not months before we saw the first update, but as they say; “good things come to those who wait” and well worth the wait it was! Completely agree. The aircraft was already above average, but now it’s one of the best in the sim. I’ve yet to try it in VR, but I’m certainly looking forward to it! Thanks as always Peter, all the best! : )
Great aircraft! I was on the edge about buying it but now you’ve convinced me. By the way a technique that’s used by some warbirds pilot is to start your takeoff run slightly left of centre line. This way you need to apply right rudder to move to centreline and by the time your on centre you have just the right amount of rudder already applied to counteract the torque and other factors that tends to swing the aircraft to the left. Works well on the Spitfire too 😉 Thanks for the great review as always!
Haha, apologies. This channel seems to be having a negative impact on people’s bank balances! : P If you did pick it up, I’d imagine (and hope) there’s not too much buyers remorse? and have we finally found an aircraft that you don’t have in your logbook then?? hehe : D Thanks very much for the tip! A little surprising actually, but makes sense. I’ll have to give it a go some time (standing by for all of the “you weren’t on the centreline” comments mind you haha). Just got to make sure of which way the prop is turning, before I park it out on the left I suppose ; ) As always, thank you very much for your comments and insight! All the best : )
Yes indeed. I managed to scare the hell out of myself in VR, when the engine let go and I wasn’t expecting it haha! I believe that whilst the interior oil spatter was there before, the external texturing is new, at least on the airframe. That’s what it says in the MILVIZ release notes anyway : ) All the best!
Corsair, DC-6 and Justflight Arrow, the holy trinity of addon planes. The only small negative comment is with the .50s. If you're going to have workable ones, at least make them sound like the real thing and also shake the airframe. That's nit-picking though, the Corsair is awesome. Great video as always :)
Haha, well put Roland. They are indeed a very nice little trifecta and cover most bases in the sim very well. I had no idea re the sounds. I thought they sounded “nice”, but I’m not familiar at all with how they should sound. Agree 100% that some vibrations would be nice, some ejected shell casings would be great also (bring back some fond memories of CFS2 haha). Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations CFS2 lol, we may be of a similar vintage. I'm probably spoilt playing sims like IL2 and DCS - in which the guns sound and feel very believable.
Haha, probably are then by the sounds of it. Actually, I was more of a prolific CFS1 user, but CFS2 was the first sim I ever managed to buy for myself. I spent quite a while saving up for it, read the manual etc thoroughly and avidly and then when I came to install it, found out it didn’t work on our home computer XD Glad those days are more or less over, as far as PC tech is concerned haha. . . Cheers : )
Hello again Michael, How so? I certainly wouldn’t consider it “nit-picking”, trying to take a thorough look at a product and then pointing out its strengths and weaknesses. That is what the large majority of people are looking for from a review; I’d be intrigued to hear how you feel it should / could be done differently? Anything in particular that you feel was unfair / unfounded during the review?
@14:57 Extremely accurate!!!! That was completely unexpected modeling visually and audibly. I replayed this segment 4x ... each time increasing the volume to where it sounded as if I was in the aircraft. Spot on by the developers! Brilliant of I.T.B.S. to showcase the updates with quality audio.
Cheers Stewie! Yeah, likewise haha. Wasn’t expecting it, but was suitably impressed when I experienced it! The whole update was thoroughly excellent overall. All the best! : )
Haha, yeah the Corsair has a nasty habit of doing that Evgeniy ; ) Going back to your other post; I totally agree with you that it’s nice when an addon forces you to fly it properly (as the Corsair does). MSFS is a mixed back at the moment, but we do have a few addons that tick all those boxes. I’ve never been given such a jump-scare in flight simming, as when the engine let go on me, during a flight in the Corsair in VR haha XD Glad you’re enjoying it. Happy flying! : )
It’s certainly noticeable by it’s absence isn’t it. I too hope they will add it; it’s a sim issue and not a MILVIZ issue though. The sim doesn’t support it yet I don’t believe (no other aircraft have smoke effects either). I’m sure MILVIZ will add it when they are able to : ) All the best!
One of the prop blades did not hit the ground, but got bent anyway!!. The oil over the canopy needs some proper animation, but I am hap am happy of how well done this model is.
Haha, indeed; I noticed that myself after watching the video back. For sure there are still areas where the aircraft could be improved, but overall it’s one of the most complete products currently available for the sim - with a lot of nice little touches / attention to detail etc. As you say, a very nice model overall I think : ) All the best!
Very nice review! 👍👍 Looks like this update has really improved the MILVIZ Corsair. As a former GA aircraft tri-gear driver I've never had the pleasure of taking off (as PIC) in a Piper Cub, much less in 1600-2800hp warbirds. I can only imagine the thrill of "winding up that big rubber band", as my WWII Army Air Corp B-25 pilot dad used to say referring to the takeoff roll. I'm sure that trying to keep the nose on the centerline with a fire breathing mind-of-its-own beast up front was more than a handful. I do hope that flightsims will one day accurately model P-factor, precession, etc., to truly simulate taildraggers, especially fire breathing warbirds, during takeoff... and landing. It seems we're getting there but we ain't there yet. Even mid-2021 this still seems to be the elusive Holy Grail in flight sims. As always, Cheers from Thailand!
Thank you very much once again Jimbo! For sure. The Corsair was already one of the nicer aircraft in the sim, but this update really cements it as a great addon. The best warbird in the sim without a doubt. Haha, well I’ve flown a Cub and a CAP10 just a little, but they both have relatively tiny rubber bands XD As you say, I can only imagine how it must feel hanging onto the back of one of these as it takes off! Very interesting re your father. He must have had quite some stories to tell (unless he generally preferred not share etc). I presume that’s where your passion came from then? Indeed. Different flight sims have managed to model it all to varying degrees, but sadly MSFS certainly isn’t top of the class when it comes to this side of things. A lot of work still to do for Asobo on that one. Interesting isn’t it, that as far as flight simulation has come over the years; they still haven’t quite nailed down the flying itself haha. As alway, thanks very much! and as always, enjoy the sun ; )
Excellent overview of this update. This is a significant update to an already excellent aircraft. Possibly the best aftermarket aircraft in regards to VR currently available.
Thanks once again Snowy! Yep, it was already a really solid effort from MILVIZ, but it’s easily one of the best aircraft in the sim now. I haven’t had a chance to try it I’m VR myself yet, but I’m certainly looking forward to it : ) All the best!
Indeed Matt, they’ve done a lovely job with how the aircraft looks. Some of the textures aren’t as high res as one might expect, but the liveries are really nice nonetheless. I just tried the updated aircraft for the first time in VR, awesome! : ) All the best
Thanks Siesta! Yeah, a really brilliant update. It’s more of a revolution than an evolution. Just tried it out for the first time in VR, even more awesome now! : ) Cheers
"Please consider leaving a like and subscribing" Well.. I already did both so I'll become a memeber! Thanks again for what I think is the best flight simulator channel and I'm eagerly awaiting future videos!
Haha, I was about to thank you for subscribing and then it just clicked that you actually said *member*!! Well thank you very much indeed! You’re in fact my very first channel member : D I’m really glad you’re enjoying the channel and I’m genuinely humbled that you feel it deserves your support. I’m not sure whether you are aware or not, but as a member, there should now be available a number of videos that you can watch in early access. Thanks very much once again, sincerely! All the best : )
Amazing as always, me and my buddy re-enact the flying bulls display team with this Corsair and the infamous DC6! I have spent manyier days at school just dreaming of doing an air display in something like this and I thought, if I hung around Duxford enough maybe I'd get a scholarship or be taught how to fly the warbirds and yet I didn't have a PPL hahahaha yes... Stupid! The Corsair is just one of those that makes me think of doing that, asides from me rambling this has been a great update and I cannot wait to see more of what they have in store for us! + Noticed the channel growing alot lately top job mate!!!
I was watching the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend and they had the Flying Bulls do a flypast. I actually thought to myself; “huh, we have a DC-6 and the Corsair in the sim now” haha. Haha, I wouldn’t say it was stupid, just the musings and imagination of a young mind. We all dream big when we’re young! Wouldn’t it be nice if the world worked that way. . . Like you though Brad, the more I see these machines, the more I want to know what they’re really like to fly! Funnily enough, starting this channel has reminded me that’s there’s a whole big world of aviation out there, not just the airlines. I’d definitely like to get back into it all again when the world goes back to normal and the opportunity arises! Ah look, now you’ve got me rambling too! : P As you say, a great update from MILVIZ, they really just raised the bar in MSFS for the warbirds. I have no idea if the rumour mill is true or not, but I saw some mention of a Hellcat from them. Would kinda make sense as I think it’s the same engine? Would be great for me, one of my absolute favourite US WWII aircraft! We’ll have to wait and see though. . . Yeah, channel seems to be growing nicely. Getting on the PMDG bandwagon certainly seemed to help haha. It’s always nice to have more subscribers of course, but even better to see a few familiar “faces” stopping by now, including yourself. Cheers, all the best as usual! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Awh man, thanks alot for that response really took your time there, and I'm very very appreciative of it! Totally buddy, I would absolutely loathe some content outside of the simulation world! Not saying there's anything wrong with it as your productions are simply sublime but, I reckon some IRL aviation linked in with RUclips would be a great venture especially in warbirds ;) And I hope that one day I will indefinitely see some of that content as it would just be absolutely amazing and I think you diserve to be up in something outside of the airliner world too! I've done my part in begging, networking etc .. and it's probably the best thing to do within the GA/Warbird industry and I also have been in the old air atlantique dc3s that where once up at Coventry and heard some of the stories that these old pilots had to say..... Especially my girlfriends grandad, an RAF fighter pilot, Concorde pilot and Qatar royal flight 747sp pilot, well... I'll never live up to those standards but just getting myself started amoungst old planes will totally improve my image to him ;p But for now I'll just stick to warbirds in the SIM and wow, a hellcat?! Such an underappreciated little ww2 fighter that is absolutely horrid how little recognition that plane gets, as it's a sweet, sweet fighter, although I'd quite like a Harvard in the SIM soon! May support me in my future ventures! Anyways, such a ramble we have here! Bye for now thanks mate!
I’ll assume you meant “love” rather than “loathe” there Brad haha. Yeah, I would love to add some real-world aviation content to the channel; not in a position to do that at the moment unfortunately, but it’s definitely one for the future! If needs be, I’ll just buy a share in a C152 and paint it like a warbird (would be quite cool actually haha) XD I’m sure the DC3 must have been pretty epic! Not too many people can claim to have been in one of those those days. How was it? Haha, your girlfriends Grandpa is a pretty tough act to follow! but he must have some great stories. . . Imagine being able to say you flew Concorde : D I guess you’re going to tell me he flew the Lightening or the F4 in the RAF : / haha. Well it’s you and me both, stuck with the virtual-warbirds for now ha. . . I’d certainly take a Harvard as well! Willing to settle for a Texan, if it’s an A2A one ; ) Cheers! : )
I have the Flyingiron spitfire MKIX and although I have engine damage turned off,the engine will stop if max throttle is held for too long.If a handy field can be found for a landing, then after a couple of minutes the engine can be re-started and take of can proceed as normal........................
Yes Russell, I think much like the MILVIZ Corsair, the engine damage model of the FI Spit is separate from that of the sims own damage model. These old fighters weren’t really designed to be run at full power for very long, so she might need a breather in a field every now and then ; ) Still, that’s gentler than the Corsair, which will just spray the innards of its engine all over your windscreen if you push it too hard XD If you come back off the power a bit, the engine should happily run all day long : ) All the best!
@Into the Blue Simulations - Re: your 'unrealistic' rudder input on takeoff - isn't that just the same as setting rudder trim? The manual (and a real world WW2 era instructional video) calls for 6 degrees of right rudder (and aileron) trim, which is preset if you start on the runway but not cold and dark. Apologies if you did set them but edited it out of the video :-) It's still a handful (a footfull?), but that's obviously to be expected with 2000hp going through a 13ft prop. I'm still using a little right rudder before the tail comes up, but the first major swing with trim set as above is usually to the right, fairly predictable in both timing and ferocity (if you allow for any crosswind) and the roll issue is practically gone.
Hi Otterspocket, You’ll have to forgive me, it’s been a while since I recorded the video now, but if I recall correctly, I did set the rudder trim before takeoff (I may have neglected to mention it). It wasn’t that I thought the requirement for rudder input itself was unrealistic, but at the time of recording, the rudder input HAD to be applied before touching the throttle. If one attempted to feed in the rudder whilst coming up on the power, the aircraft would spear off to the left(?) uncontrollably. As you say, with a big, beefy double-Wasp sat up front, I wouldn’t expect the aircraft to be a pussycat haha, but at the time there was definitely something a bit “off” with the ground handling. MILVIZ do seem to have improved it in the intervening period though : ) I hope that clarifies a bit. Cheers, all the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations - I thought it was fairly unlikely you'd see it tbh, so thanks for replying. I only bought it a couple of weeks ago, so thanks for beta testing these things for me :-D
What is the supercharger lever called in the setup menu? I'd like to allocate the supercharger lever to a 3 way switch on my throttle quadrant, but I simply can't find it...
Hello Julian, I’m not sure that there is a supercharger control binding available within MSFS - if I recall correctly, the sim does not currently support superchargers by default. If it is possible to bind the lever, it would probably be by using another control assignment and I imagine any such option would be detailed in the product manual (though I am not aware that any such option exists there either). Sorry I can’t be of more help on that one. All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Still haven't had chance to try it with the updated version, very busy lifestyle, not a lot of play time, but I will soon hopefully, but at least thanks to your video I know what to expect.
An, well enjoy it when you do then! And thank you all the more for taking the time to watch my videos, if you haven’t even managed to find the time to enjoy the sim yourself! : )
Yes, it’s a lovely effort from MILVIZ! I’m not sure when it will be arriving on the Marketplace I’m afraid (though I believe it is planned to). Just be advised though, if you do purchase it though the Marketplace (as and when it becomes available), the aircraft will not have any functioning weapons and will also have a slightly smaller selection of liveries (due to Marketplace restrictions). All the best! : )
It’s definitely well worth considering Noah. If you’re a fan of the Corsair, I doubt you’d regret purchasing it. It’s not cheap, but it’s definitely the best warbird currently available in MSFS and one of the best aircraft currently available in the sim. If you do pick it up, happy flying! : )
Excellent review of a truly absorbing aircraft. I wonder how much of the takeoff behaviour is down to the sim, not just the aircraft, as I've found others to be similarly affected, the Stearman being one. In my only takeoff as pilot in command of a Stearman, I found it tracked very well with minimum rudder input.
Thank you very much John! Indeed, I’m almost certain it’s predominantly a sim issue. Pretty much every tailwheel aircraft exhibits the same strange behaviour to some degree or another. It does seem though, as if aircraft are slowly getting better in this regard. Certainly not saying the blame lies completely at MILVIZs door, but it is still an area of the product (and quite probably the sim itself) that needs some work. I have very limited experience with tailwheel aircraft myself and I’m sure these warbirds were a real handful during the takeoff, but I’m also fairly sure such a sudden and violent swing is not accurate and of course full rudder should be sufficient to counter it (and on some addon aircraft it currently isn’t). Thanks again, all the best : )
Hi, so I actually have a question regarding the Corsairs altitude climb rate. For some reason when I get to 10,000 - 15,000 feet the aircraft tends to stall out. It is hard to climb to 20,000 or 30,000 feet In it. Is there anything I need to adjust mid flight in order to climb higher with this plane? Thanks
Hi Matt, That sounds like a supercharger / blower issue to me. On the ground the blower will be set to neutral (if I recall correctly); in order to maintain manifold pressure, you will need to move it into the high setting as you climb (the lever is located on the throttle quadrant). I think that should get you sorted, but let me know if you’re still having issues after trying that : ) All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks so much for getting back to me. I will try to use the supercharger and see if I can climb to flight level 20. Thanks for the help, il reach back out regarding results. Good day
I believe the MILVIZ damage system is separate / outside of the sims damage system (much like the FI Spitfire). I think MILVIZ wanted to create an aircraft that is a pretty accurate representation of the real thing and has to be flown as such. It’s not too tricky to manage the Corsair though; 54 inches / max rpm for the takeoff and then just stay below 44 inches / 2500 rpm thereafter. That should keep you in good nick the vast majority of the time ; ) All the best! : )
Hi Byeohazard, My pleasure! Glad you found it of use. As far as I’m aware, it’s only the guns that can be bound to a control in the sim I’m afraid; the drop tanks and bombs have to be released using the cockpit controls. Cheers! All the best : )
Do you know, the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind, given that it is MSFS, but what a great idea! I’ve no idea if that sort of thing is planned I’m afraid (I haven’t seen any mention of it) and obviously they would be very limited with what they can do in the sim, but it would be great to see a couple of bush trips at least; perhaps a tour of the Pacific Islands, a few ferry flights etc. All the best : )
Ahh, sorry to hear that. I hope you can maybe manage to get a refund then. They should write this stuff in big red letters at the top of the product page (if they don’t already), it’s a pretty important thing for people to be made aware of! Unfortunately the Marketplace doesn’t allow any sort of weaponry, but many people aren’t aware of this I’m sure. If it’s any consolation, the implementation of the weaponry is incredibly basic (the sims fault, not MILVIZ’s), so it’s just a bit of a novelty really. All the best!
Just tried the update last night. Is it just me, but did they make a change to pilot perspective? I feel like I’m tilted/rotated forward 30-45 degrees in VR (G2). Like hanging in my harness... Hit spacebar to recenter and still the same... tried multiple other planes and they are fine.
Ah no, have they really? I hate it when developers do that. I can’t say I noticed it myself John, but I was only using TrackIR for the vid. At least with TrackIR you can adjust it, but with VR your stuck with any angle they give you. Probably worth trying a different cockpit camera? Often one will have a tilt / displacement and not the other etc (like on the FI Spit for example). All the best!
Correct Benjamin. I agree, it’s silly and I can think of a number of ways Asobo could work around the issue, but it seems they have no interest in doing so unfortunately. Ultimately it’s probably advisable to purchase any military aircraft outside of the sim (if one wants full functionality). All the best!
Haha, exactly. Not only can they, but they absolutely should! Ignoring reality doesn’t make it not so - the same goes for history. I can understand why Asobo wouldn’t want working weapons in the sim, but the rest is just plain silly. A real shame. . . All the best!
Hi Gabriele, You can search for Angaur Airstrip, or use the code ANG and it should be one of the first results you’ll see in the search list : ) Hope that helps. All the best!
Haha, hey Compramos! You did pop into my head when you asked the question, but I figured I already know your RUclips handle / pic, so I probably never would have guessed ha. You’ve set up a RUclips channel as well now? : )
I have the Corsair I've been hearing about the update but I cannot find out where or how to get it. I've been on the Milviz sight, just no sign of service pack one. Please help.
Hi Mikeable, Hmm, did you buy directly through MILVIZ, or from the Marketplace? If purchased from MILVIZ, you should get a link to the update via email I believe (I did). If you purchase from the Marketplace, you may have to wait a while until the service pack is uploaded to the sim. Updates often come out a bit later for Marketplace products I’m afraid. If you purchased from MILVIZ, let me know and I’ll try and you point you in the right direction on their site. Cheers!
Sorry Bob, I didn’t even think to mention the radio at the time. I haven’t had a chance to fly the Corsair in a while, but I do know that one of the more recent sim updates broke a lot of 3rd party aircraft, in terms of clickspots etc (and for sure the Corsair was one of them). So that may be what’s been causing your radio issues. It might just be a question of waiting for an update I’m afraid. All the best!
It is - although unfortunately the Marketplace version doesn’t come with any of the weapons (as any such thing is banned on the Marketplace). All the best! : )
I had the usual 6 degrees right trim (as per the manual), but without the prior rudder input, I still get that snap out to the left (which is just about controllable with full right rudder now). All the best!
Hiya! Another awesome video thank you! May I ask, how flyable is this with keyboard and mouse. I know the devs say use controllers only but I am bed bound and can't use a controller but still really want this plane. How does it fly using keyboard and mouse? Is it just not as good or does it genuinely break the product? Thanks.
Thank you very much! I have to say, it would be very tricky in all honesty (more so than most aircraft in the sim). The Corsair is a real handful on the takeoff, more-so in the sim than reality even I think. That being said, if you aren’t too fussed about takeoff and landing, it’s probably fairly manageable with keyboard / mouse once you’ve got it in the air (or you could even just start in the air). It might also be much more manageable with some assists turned on. Like all of these things, with enough practice, I’m sure it can be done! On a positive note, I’m fair certain that whilst it would be tricky, it won’t break the product in any way, shape, or form. You should be fine on that front. I’m happy to run some tests and let you know how I find it with keyboard and mouse only. I could even send you a little video clip if you like (to give you an idea)? Would be great to get you “up in the air” if we can! : ) Let me know. All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations ah I did wonder that having watched your spitfire video when you were talking about the differences that it may just be too tricky but as say, may just be takes some learning and practice. If you wouldn't mind doing some tests that would be incredible thank you! I really appreciate the reply and help, your videos are some of my go to for flight simulator and your passion for flying is amazing. All the best and happy flying!
I ran a little test in the Corsair Cavy; I basically just made sure I could takeoff using the keyboard (as the rest is relatively more straightforward). Turns out it's quite doable with a little practice! I don't think my flying will win any awards haha, but I knocked up a little video for you to get an idea of how it performs (this is with all assists off - keyboard only): ruclips.net/video/_Kv2LflRg2A/видео.html I found the key to getting a half decent takeoff, is using almost full rudder and a bit of up elevator, before coming up on the power (as you can see). Hope you find it useful. If you do want to purchase the Corsair, I think you should have just about as much control as anyone else can manage, taking off in that thing - it's not easy at the best of times haha. My pleasure being able to help! As you say, I'm passionate about all things flying, so if I can help someone get up into the skies, virtual or otherwise, I'm a happy man! Thanks very much once again and all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations ah that is amazing to hear and the video is great to see. Thank you. It definitely seems a bit of a steep learning curve but I think will be worth it so will have a look at it again and possibly pick up so thank you! I love that ethos and totally agree. Flying, in sim or real life is such a magic feeling that it's something everyone should try and be supported in 😀 Hope you have a great weekend!
Glad it was of help Cavy! Actually, it wasn’t as arduous as I was expecting, trying to fly it with just the keyboard. Took about 20 mins to figure out. If you’re already used to a keyboard, I’m sure you’d have it figured out in no time! : ) Thanks very much! Hope you have a great weekend too and happy flying!
Hello Alan, By all means! I believe I did make mention of this issue during this video and indeed I try to point out this shortfall during any warbird / military aircraft reviews; but of course not everyone happens to watch these vids and Asobo don’t make the restrictions nearly clear enough on the Marketplace. I don’t like like the overly-cautious practices employed on the Marketplace (although I know why Asobo / Microsoft have gone down that route), so I always advise anyone to buy military aircraft from another vendor where possible (and personally I try to avoid the Marketplace generally where I can). Sorry you got bitten - I hope you still manage to have some fun with the Corsair. All the best!
Thanks very much! : ) To fire the guns, you need to assign a key to the “water rudder toggle” control (or something named very similarly to that) in the controls menu. The rockets cannot be fired and I believe the bombs can only be dropped by manipulating the cockpit controls (ie you can’t assign a button to this function). Hope that helps? If you need any more help, let me know! All the best
Cheers man! Said I’d get back to you haha : P Good question! I would be keen for another livestream soon (there have been a couple of times recently that I was planning one actually and then it fell through). I’ll try and organise one soon(ish). Might wait until the next sim update (27th) as my sim performance hasn’t been great since the last update (as you may have noticed in recent videos) and live-streaming certainly won’t help my cause haha. I’ll post in advance, when I plan on doing one : ) Cheers!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations ok sounds brilliant. sorry I think I asked twice I thought I removed this comment 😂.Yeah performance is annoying but for me the last couple weeks Microsoft decided to update pc and break my msfs with hardly no support or help from the msfs team I had to uninstall and install the game as I have disc version so fun times👍. Went to Glasgow the other day was craving a flight so back into flightsim, and guess what I have loads of questions for you 😂 I don't know if your pleased about that.
No worries! Ouch! I’ve yet to have to do a full reinstall, but I’ve come close a few times. It’s amazing that after nearly a year, the sim is still so clunky to install, update etc. I still can’t update my sim over WiFi, have to plug an Ethernet cable in every time for whatever reason. . . I’m sure it was even more fun with the disks! XD Did you get it sorted (I presume you must have done, since you said you’re back up in the air now)? Haha, of course. Fire away!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Yeah completely agree with you it's abit unacceptable for a game that's been out for a while now. Wow yeah sounds like you have had issues with it also. The download sounds really unfair that you have to keep doing that mine took around 10 hours to do 2.5 hours for the discs and 8 for the updates. Yeah I went to Glasgow as I was craving a flight and it's got me back into it again.
Ouch, that’s a lot of time and effort. A lot of swapping disks in and out too I would imagine! XD My issue is no big deal really, it’s just faffing around with a cable every so often. I just find it laughable that it’s an issue that even exists. Nice! Who’d you fly up to Glasgow with?
Hi CLH, The MILVIZ Corsair can be purchased directly from MILVIZ (recently renamed Blackbird Simulations), or through the in-sim Marketplace. I believe the addon can also be purchased through other vendors such as Orbx. Just be advised: I highly suggest you don’t purchase the aircraft through the in-sim Marketplace, since if you do so, there will be no weapons functionality on the addon. I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Yeah, they do that for any and all armaments on aircraft sold through the Marketplace I’m afraid; even training munitions, modelled gun barrels etc. It’s really silly, over the top and unnecessary in my opinion. I hardly think young flight simmers are going to become corrupted, because they once flew a Spitfire MX IX that the cannons visually modelled . . . All the best!
looks and sounds great but i dont see the point to these war aircraft in MFS2020, it almost feels childish to me. although i have to admit im no fan of war plane combat sims anyway, so that could have something to do with it.
I don’t know about childish, I think it’s just an acquired taste. I never generally used to be a fan of military aircraft in civilian sims, but now I love them! All I generally use them for is cruising around on cross-country navigation exercises etc. To borrow someone else’s analogy, I think it’s the simulation equivalent of driving a classic car. I often find these older machines more interesting to fly and more challenging to operate. I just enjoy their character. That’s just me though. To each their own of course! All the best : )
Haha, ouch! Well, that’s unfortunate. . . I’m afraid there’s not too much I can do about that, but it’s nice to hear that you enjoyed the visuals at least; that is the bit I can do something about! : ) All the best
What a bizarre comment. I for one love the delivery of your commentary in your vids. It’s one of the reasons I keep coming back. Highly informative, professionally produced, and delivered in a similar way to what your would expect from an instructor in the RAF. Keep up the fantastic work ITBS 😁
Haha, well to each their own of course. . . I get comments on both sides of the spectrum regarding my commentary style / voice. Apparently it’s like Marmite it seems haha. Nothing I can really do about it though, so I’ll just keep plugging away. Very happy to hear that you’re enjoying the content though Wes, much appreciated! Tally ho! ; )
I'm very surprised ITBS hasn't gone well over 20k subscribers yet. He's making some of the best MSFS content on RUclips right now.
Agreed. He's an honest reviewer
Very kind indeed Ryan - but only 20K? XD
Haha, jokes aside, thank you very much! I’m really happy with how the channel has been going. I suspect the content might be lacking a little bit in “entertainment” value for many, a bit “dry” as it’s often quite procedural; but that’s the way I wanted it to be (for the most part) and I know that will attract some and not others. It has its own little niche.
We’ve already surpassed my wildest expectations; I’m just super glad to be able to bring people content that I enjoy making and others seem to enjoy watching (though I wouldn’t say no to 20K of course ; )
Once step at a time. Here’s to the next 7K! : D
Thanks very much once again and all the best!
Thank you sir! Certainly try to be : )
great stuff.
Works well on the Spitfire too 😉
Thanks for the great review as always!
Haha, apologies. This channel seems to be having a negative impact on people’s bank balances! : P
If you did pick it up, I’d imagine (and hope) there’s not too much buyers remorse? and have we finally found an aircraft that you don’t have in your logbook then?? hehe : D
Thanks very much for the tip! A little surprising actually, but makes sense. I’ll have to give it a go some time (standing by for all of the “you weren’t on the centreline” comments mind you haha). Just got to make sure of which way the prop is turning, before I park it out on the left I suppose ; )
As always, thank you very much for your comments and insight! All the best : )
The oil splatter was there before the update too. Got it on an engine blowout on one of my first takeoffs with the Corsair
Yes indeed. I managed to scare the hell out of myself in VR, when the engine let go and I wasn’t expecting it haha! I believe that whilst the interior oil spatter was there before, the external texturing is new, at least on the airframe. That’s what it says in the MILVIZ release notes anyway : )
All the best!
NP with the nit picking and negative thoughts. This guys reviews very much encourage nit -picking to the nth degree .
Haha, probably are then by the sounds of it. Actually, I was more of a prolific CFS1 user, but CFS2 was the first sim I ever managed to buy for myself. I spent quite a while saving up for it, read the manual etc thoroughly and avidly and then when I came to install it, found out it didn’t work on our home computer XD
Glad those days are more or less over, as far as PC tech is concerned haha. . .
Cheers : )
Hello again Michael,
How so?
I bought it yesterday. This plane punished me in flight. Twice.
Today I have fixed all my mistakes. This is how all aircraft addons should be.
Haha, yeah the Corsair has a nasty habit of doing that Evgeniy ; )
Going back to your other post; I totally agree with you that it’s nice when an addon forces you to fly it properly (as the Corsair does). MSFS is a mixed back at the moment, but we do have a few addons that tick all those boxes. I’ve never been given such a jump-scare in flight simming, as when the engine let go on me, during a flight in the Corsair in VR haha XD
Glad you’re enjoying it. Happy flying! : )
I wish they added the amount of smoke that comes out when doing a cold engine start
It’s certainly noticeable by it’s absence isn’t it. I too hope they will add it; it’s a sim issue and not a MILVIZ issue though. The sim doesn’t support it yet I don’t believe (no other aircraft have smoke effects either).
I’m sure MILVIZ will add it when they are able to : )
All the best!
As you say, a very nice model overall I think : )
All the best!
I haven’t had a chance to try it I’m VR myself yet, but I’m certainly looking forward to it : )
All the best!
It's looking- and sounding- scaringly realistic!
Indeed! It’s an excellent effort from MILVIZ. Just tried the updated version in VR for the first time; brilliant! : D
All the best!
I love the tx on the plane. Nice oil splate too lol
Indeed Matt, they’ve done a lovely job with how the aircraft looks. Some of the textures aren’t as high res as one might expect, but the liveries are really nice nonetheless. I just tried the updated aircraft for the first time in VR, awesome! : )
All the best
I felt like something was missing? An ITBS video isn't complete with out a, "Clear PROP"!
Haha, I’ll have to show myself the door Timothy. . . XD
Normal service was resumed in the next video though ; )
All the best!
Great update to the aircraft, and a very nicely done video to show it off in a practical manner :)
Thanks Siesta! Yeah, a really brilliant update. It’s more of a revolution than an evolution. Just tried it out for the first time in VR, even more awesome now! : )
Cheers

As always buddy a brilliant information about the new update. Very well done. Thank you very much.
Take care
Thank you very much! Glad you found it of use. An excellent update for an excellent aircraft!
As you say, a great update from MILVIZ, they really just raised the bar in MSFS for the warbirds.
I'll never live up to those standards but just getting myself started amoungst old planes will totally improve my image to him ;p
But for now I'll just stick to warbirds in the SIM and wow, a hellcat?!
If needs be, I’ll just buy a share in a C152 and paint it like a warbird (would be quite cool actually haha) XD
I’m sure the DC3 must have been pretty epic!
Willing to settle for a Texan, if it’s an A2A one ; )
Cheers!
These old fighters weren’t really designed to be run at full power for very long, so she might need a breather in a field every now and then ; )
Still, that’s gentler than the Corsair, which will just spray the innards of its engine all over your windscreen if you push it too hard XD
If you come back off the power a bit, the engine should happily run all day long : )
All the best!
Apologies if you did set them but edited it out of the video :-)
It's still a handful (a footfull?), but that's obviously to be expected with 2000hp going through a 13ft prop. I'm still using a little right rudder before the tail comes up, but the first major swing with trim set as above is usually to the right, fairly predictable in both timing and ferocity (if you allow for any crosswind) and the roll issue is practically gone.
Hi Otterspocket,
You’ll have to forgive me, it’s been a while since I recorded the video now, but if I recall correctly, I did set the rudder trim before takeoff (I may have neglected to mention it).
MILVIZ do seem to have improved it in the intervening period though : )
I hope that clarifies a bit. Cheers, all the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations - I thought it was fairly unlikely you'd see it tbh, so thanks for replying.
I only bought it a couple of weeks ago, so thanks for beta testing these things for me :-D
My pleasure! I try to reply where I can : )
Haha, glad I could be of help ; ) Enjoy the Corsair and happy flying!
Love this aircraft. Nice update.
Me too Michael. It was already great, now it’s undoubtedly one of the best for the sim currently.
Cheers, all the best : )
What is the supercharger lever called in the setup menu? I'd like to allocate the supercharger lever to a 3 way switch on my throttle quadrant, but I simply can't find it...
Hello Julian,
I’m not sure that there is a supercharger control binding available within MSFS - if I recall correctly, the sim does not currently support superchargers by default. If it is possible to bind the lever, it would probably be by using another control assignment and I imagine any such option would be detailed in the product manual (though I am not aware that any such option exists there either).
Sorry I can’t be of more help on that one. All the best!
Another great video, really informative, I've updated mine but not flown it yet.
Thank you sir! Hopefully it gave you a good overview of what to expect then. I’d imagine you’re probably happily flying it by now!
All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Still haven't had chance to try it with the updated version, very busy lifestyle, not a lot of play time, but I will soon hopefully, but at least thanks to your video I know what to expect.
An, well enjoy it when you do then!
And thank you all the more for taking the time to watch my videos, if you haven’t even managed to find the time to enjoy the sim yourself! : )
Beautiful aircraft wonder when it's will be in the SIM market.
hmm, thinking about purchasing this now.
Thanks
Hi Matt,
That sounds like a supercharger / blower issue to me. On the ground the blower will be set to neutral (if I recall correctly); in order to maintain manifold pressure, you will need to move it into the high setting as you climb (the lever is located on the throttle quadrant).
I think that should get you sorted, but let me know if you’re still having issues after trying that : )
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations
Thanks so much for getting back to me. I will try to use the supercharger and see if I can climb to flight level 20.
Thanks for the help, il reach back out regarding results.
Good day
why does the engine get damaged, if it's already enabled in the MSFS 2020 settings " engine damage - off"?
I believe the MILVIZ damage system is separate / outside of the sims damage system (much like the FI Spitfire). I think MILVIZ wanted to create an aircraft that is a pretty accurate representation of the real thing and has to be flown as such.
It’s not too tricky to manage the Corsair though; 54 inches / max rpm for the takeoff and then just stay below 44 inches / 2500 rpm thereafter. That should keep you in good nick the vast majority of the time ; )
All the best! : )
Thanks for the information on binding the guns. WHat do the drop tanks and bombs bind to for release? Thanks so much...great overview!
Hi Byeohazard,
My pleasure! Glad you found it of use.
As far as I’m aware, it’s only the guns that can be bound to a control in the sim I’m afraid; the drop tanks and bombs have to be released using the cockpit controls.
Cheers! All the best : )
Are there any missions planned for this plane? How about a campaign?
Do you know, the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind, given that it is MSFS, but what a great idea! I’ve no idea if that sort of thing is planned I’m afraid (I haven’t seen any mention of it) and obviously they would be very limited with what they can do in the sim, but it would be great to see a couple of bush trips at least; perhaps a tour of the Pacific Islands, a few ferry flights etc.
All the best : )
There’s only the fuel tank options for me, did they remove the weapons?
Ahh never mind I missed how you said “through the marketplace they won’t have guns” at the beginning. Wonder if I can return it lol
So what are the other aircraft add-ons that you mentioned that also model prop strikes
I believe the AT Simulations P149 (another aircraft I really enjoy) was the first to model it in the sim (if memory serves me correctly).
Cheers : )
Unfortunately the marketplace doesn't allow weapons or kill marks which is stupid in my opinion, but the price is still the same
Correct Benjamin. I agree, it’s silly and I can think of a number of ways Asobo could work around the issue, but it seems they have no interest in doing so unfortunately. Ultimately it’s probably advisable to purchase any military aircraft outside of the sim (if one wants full functionality).
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations it falls apart when you realize that any kid can see those weapons in a museum and they learn about it in school
Haha, exactly. Not only can they, but they absolutely should! Ignoring reality doesn’t make it not so - the same goes for history.
I can understand why Asobo wouldn’t want working weapons in the sim, but the rest is just plain silly. A real shame. . .
All the best!
Hi, can I ask You how can I choose the Palau airstrip? Thx.
Hi Gabriele,
You can search for Angaur Airstrip, or use the code ANG and it should be one of the first results you’ll see in the search list : )
Hope that helps. All the best!
Guess who I am? I was in your live stream last time 😉
its compramos 😊
Haha, hey Compramos! You did pop into my head when you asked the question, but I figured I already know your RUclips handle / pic, so I probably never would have guessed ha.
You’ve set up a RUclips channel as well now? : )
I have the Corsair I've been hearing about the update but I cannot find out where or how to get it. I've been on the Milviz sight, just no sign of service pack one. Please help.
Hi Mikeable,
Hmm, did you buy directly through MILVIZ, or from the Marketplace? If purchased from MILVIZ, you should get a link to the update via email I believe (I did). If you purchase from the Marketplace, you may have to wait a while until the service pack is uploaded to the sim. Updates often come out a bit later for Marketplace products I’m afraid.
If you purchased from MILVIZ, let me know and I’ll try and you point you in the right direction on their site.
Cheers!
I'v checked my email and thats where the link is found.. Many thanks
Perfect! You’re most welcome. Enjoy! : )
I wish you would have shown the radio, I cannot get it to work like they instruct to save my life
Sorry Bob, I didn’t even think to mention the radio at the time.
I have those too but they just say weapons N/A and they aren't there. :(
Is this the Corsair that's in the marketplace?
It is - although unfortunately the Marketplace version doesn’t come with any of the weapons (as any such thing is banned on the Marketplace).
All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations No weapons allowed in a flight simulator?! 😫
I know, it’s rather silly isn’t it. . . : /
How about right rudder takeoff trim?
Let me know.
I ran a little test in the Corsair Cavy;
I basically just made sure I could takeoff using the keyboard (as the rest is relatively more straightforward). Turns out it's quite doable with a little practice! I don't think my flying will win any awards haha, but I knocked up a little video for you to get an idea of how it performs (this is with all assists off - keyboard only):
ruclips.net/video/_Kv2LflRg2A/видео.html
I found the key to getting a half decent takeoff, is using almost full rudder and a bit of up elevator, before coming up on the power (as you can see).
Flying, in sim or real life is such a magic feeling that it's something everyone should try and be supported in 😀
Hope you have a great weekend!
Glad it was of help Cavy!
Actually, it wasn’t as arduous as I was expecting, trying to fly it with just the keyboard. Took about 20 mins to figure out. If you’re already used to a keyboard, I’m sure you’d have it figured out in no time! : )
Thanks very much! Hope you have a great weekend too and happy flying!
CAN I MAKE PEOPLE AWARE! If you buy this plane from the Marketplace you will NOT get the armaments loadout and also a reduced amount of liveries
Hello Alan,
By all means!
Can you ditch it on the water?
Haha, I just ran some "testing", you can indeed Mike!
All the best : )
That's awesome
Hi nice video as always, just purchased now but cannot understand what I need or how to bind keys to fire weapons.. can somebody help me please?
Thanks very much! : )
To fire the guns, you need to assign a key to the “water rudder toggle” control (or something named very similarly to that) in the controls menu. The rockets cannot be fired and I believe the bombs can only be dropped by manipulating the cockpit controls (ie you can’t assign a button to this function).
Hope that helps? If you need any more help, let me know!
All the best
Great video. When you going to do a live stream flight
Cheers man! Said I’d get back to you haha : P
Good question!
I’ll post in advance, when I plan on doing one : )
Cheers!
XD
Did you get it sorted (I presume you must have done, since you said you’re back up in the air now)?
Haha, of course. Fire away!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Yeah completely agree with you it's abit unacceptable for a game that's been out for a while now. Wow yeah sounds like you have had issues with it also.
The download sounds really unfair that you have to keep doing that mine took around 10 hours to do 2.5 hours for the discs and 8 for the updates. Yeah I went to Glasgow as I was craving a flight and it's got me back into it again.
Ouch, that’s a lot of time and effort. A lot of swapping disks in and out too I would imagine! XD
My issue is no big deal really, it’s just faffing around with a cable every so often. I just find it laughable that it’s an issue that even exists.
Nice! Who’d you fly up to Glasgow with?
FEATHER PROP ON ENG FAILURE?? FINE SHOW MANY THANKS!!
where did u buy it .....AWESOMW ?
Hi CLH,
The MILVIZ Corsair can be purchased directly from MILVIZ (recently renamed Blackbird Simulations), or through the in-sim Marketplace. I believe the addon can also be purchased through other vendors such as Orbx. Just be advised: I highly suggest you don’t purchase the aircraft through the in-sim Marketplace, since if you do so, there will be no weapons functionality on the addon.
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Wow
Yeah, it’s a really nice aircraft overall now!
Cheers Ahmed : )
Fucking asobo had them remove the loadout feature for the store version
>:(
Yeah, they do that for any and all armaments on aircraft sold through the Marketplace I’m afraid; even training munitions, modelled gun barrels etc.
Not sure what it is but his ending of sentences irks me ..I shall move on but still liked the visual content!
Haha, ouch! Well, that’s unfortunate. . . I’m afraid there’s not too much I can do about that, but it’s nice to hear that you enjoyed the visuals at least; that is the bit I can do something about! : )
All the best
Tally ho! ; )
