Lee Jung-jae is an excellent Korean actor. I've seen him in many Korean shows and movies and he always plays his extremely well. It's kind of telling how bad the show is when the guy who doesn't speak English is the best part of the show.

I was saying that most of the writing and some of the acting is so bad that Lee Jung-Jae stands out as a high point in the series despite recently learning English specifically for this role (at least that is what has been reported.) I have nothing but respect for Lee Jung-Jae. The dude was a big fan of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn and worked his ass off to learn English for this role. He's the only good character in this show and it's gonna suck when they inevitably ruin his character by somehow making him responsible for the coven's deaths.

It appears that someone altered his age on Wookiepedia to fit in with this. Which means the lore itself in future is subject to being bent, or broken.

The acting was not great, the CGI was pretty cringe much of the time (not all of the time) and Anakin's turn to the darkside happened to quickly at the end of Revenge. Like, if I said that the food at restaurants I work at, past or present, was the best thing ever, people would be suspicious because it's fast food. True, a character doesn't usually do terrible things & then just go "Eh, I'm moving on", but this is a character written in Lesley Headland's world, & I think that might be rather telling.🤔
I cant stand the 6-8 episode format. They always start out good and then by episode 3-4 they absolutely fall off a cliff and the finale is 100% of the time A WASTE OF TIME !!!

One possible explanation of Mae deciding to turn herself in... If this "Sith" (Or what ever he is) is forcing her into these murders, "Against her Will"... You may compare it (Somewhat) to two people in a toxic marriage relationship, where one is physically/mentally abusing the the other... Eventually, the "Victim" will likely turn on the abuser in some fashion (Run away, turn them in, resort to violence, murder, etc)... One thing I noticed, right before Mae had her "Change of Heart"... She referred to the Jedi as the bad guys, yet her description of them as bad guys didn't fit what she was saying about them (I don't remember exactly what she said, because I only watched it once, and I refuse to watch it again for two reasons... It is not good enough to rewatch, and I don't want to pad Disney's numbers of people watching)... Regardless of her exact wording, it caught my attention because Mae seemed to not be enjoying her Kool Aid as much as she did in earlier episodes... Keep in mind also, that criminals (Even hardcore ones, do turn themselves in once in awhile... Sometimes a conscience will wear you down, assuming you even have one... We also have to acknowledge another fact of nature... Disney WILL be Disney, and they have proven over and over again they don't care if their stories make sense any more then they do if audiences like them or not... Just for the record, despite my feeble attempts at optimism, and WANTING this to be good, I fully agree that this is a poorly written excuse of a show, and is NOT worthy of having the "Star Wars" logo attached to it... I also could care less if any given character is LGBTQ or not... I demand well written characters that actually give me a reason to miss them if they were gone... So far the only character in Acolyte that I would actually miss would be Master Sol... To me, HE is the heart of the show so far... Everybody else are just "Throw Away characters"... Easily replaced... All due to poor writing/directing... Not necessarily the actors faults either...
Ep4 bad writing elements (positive stuff below): They lost Basil? Yord asking Osha for the gun but 2min later is "concerned" for her safety? Killing a bug is bad? Yord is no longer goofy? Mae has a late change of heart once deep in the forest? Oshawa has a change of heart after repeatedly saying she wasn't going to join the mission? Jedi wookee found dead in his chair, he was totally surprised and didn't fight? Why did it smell bad in the forest at some point, the bugs? Basil is a they? Positive stuff: Forest was nice. The costumes are nice. Yellow lightsabers. Basil is a nice character.
I've stumbled into Acolyte reactors, and I don't know if its the pressure of it being a reaction channel so everything is expected to be liked, but it seems like there is a large percentage of reactors who don't seem to think this show is trash. I don't get it.
A lot of them get early access to shows, invites to special functions, and SWAG bags. They don't want to risk losing those things by calling a turd a turd.
I just finished watching Black Sails and Rome....made me really wonder what they spent the Acolytes budget on lol. Also, the runtime hamstrings these shows so heavily. Ends before their version of the good stuff starts.

They should of just made this a 4 episode mini series because the episodes are so short yet nothing really happens until the end of each episode and the action is the best part of the series and its so little of it and the writing is the worst part and that's mostly what we get.

Also about the personalities - Not only do they come out very stiff, they also display a very negative air to them. These do not appear like the keepers of peace we have heard about. They appear corporate. They seem like they hate working with each other. Their judgement is questionable and they feel duplicitous. Whatever these people are, they sure are not Jedi.
People love redemption arcs because they take time, and people can both sympathise and see for themselves everything a person goes through to make up for their wrong ways. This skipped the entire redemption arc, giving nobody a chance to believe that she is truly re-habilitated and or regrets what she has done. You can't have worse writing. Literally, its impossible.
I have not been watching the show, because all of the reviews have been much more entertaining than I think it could ever be. I find it sufficient just to laugh and roll my eyes at the many clips that are out there.

I can’t bring myself to watch something that is not made for me but a modern audience. I have Disney+ but it’s for the classic shows and movies mostly, now. I do like that they include some stuff from Hulu because I like the setup on Disney+ better.

Thank you very much for one of the few objective reviews of this show. I was really disappointed with E03 and although the plot of E04 was better than 3, it's still badly written, as you said. And thx for not hopping on that "Pronouns!??!?!"-bandwaggon of others, since I couldn't care less if someones is cis, gay, queer or anything inbetween in the starwas universe. (but it looks like there are "reviewers" around who can't deal with it objectively). On this topic - I wouldn't be too surprised, if Mae's "friend" turns out to be one of the sisterhoods girls turning male ;-)
Look, I don't want the Acolyte to be longer but you are right when you say "why are these episodes only 28 minutes?" I don't get it either. Probably one of my favorite seasons of tv in recent years, Stranger Things 4, really nailed it for me. It was almost like watching a movie with the last few episodes. I have nothing but respect for Lee Jung-Jae. The dude was a big fan of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn and worked his ass off to learn English for this role. He's the only good character in this show and it's gonna suck when they inevitably ruin his character by somehow making him responsible for the coven's deaths.

Basically this is the substance of modern Star Wars, Kennedy (st al) will modify amend what is perceived to be canon,are-write and stomp on the work of George Lucas.
To me it makes perfect sense and is more evidence why the Jedi failed the Republic and LET the Sith back in to take over. The Jedi Order were complacent and arrogent. Why is this so hard to wrap your head around?

When originally he was born 40 years after. It appears that someone altered his age on Wookiepedia to fit in with this. Which means the lore itself in future is subject to being bent, or broken.
As far as I can gather , the best thing to come from this show is the fact that one other reviewer kept fererring to Osha as Occupational Safety and Health Authority EVERY TIME he mentioned her......priceless!!

So I have mixed feeling about the prequel trilogy. I like the story very much but the delivery was a bit wonky. The acting was not great, the CGI was pretty cringe much of the time (not all of the time) and Anakin's turn to the darkside happened to quickly at the end of Revenge. I had a hard time believing he would kill the Jedi children.
Anyways, this show feels bug budget to me (I realize many people don't think so but it looks great to me). The acting is wonderful I am enjoying the variety of personalities (yes, even Yord, what a stick in the mud but still enjoy him). Sol is amazing, this actor learned English for the role but his acting is so heartfelt and believable. The show is weinning me over because it is a mystery and we see things that don't make sense but knowing it will make sense in the end. I'm here for that. I also really am enjoying the Sith master (or is he apprentice?), I like the voice, the costume, he is creepy the way he floated down in the background of Mae I;m here for that shit I think it's dope. The music is absoultely amazing.

Like, if I said that the food at restaurants I work at, past or present, was the best thing ever, people would be suspicious because it's fast food. They'd say that I either gave it praise because I get money from them, or that my standards are nonexistent.
Also, unfortunately, people _do_ get paid or pressured into giving positive reviews. It happens a LOT at the jobs I've worked. A store can _literally_ get in trouble for not enough good reviews coming in. It's not even to counter bad reviews; it's because they're not getting enough reviews _period._
I'm honestly not into Star Wars movies and shows that much. The lore is interesting, but I've never been a fan of live-action: I find it aesthetically boring. I'm also not too keen on such serious stories. I've watched some of each of the original trilogy, but I don't remember finishing any of them. I do have the ewok cartoon movies on VHS somewhere, though. I used to watch that religiously as a kid. And Spaceballs is a parody, but I loved that, too. XD
Movies in general don't keep my attention because they're so *long.* So with movies and shows getting longer and longer, and more and more things turning to live-action, I'm out. I'm more into games. But for Star Wars, I'm only really into the Lego games because exploding droids into bricks is *hilarious.* Leia for the fights, JarJar for the platforming. :P
I don't do TV/streaming, but I cruise around RUclips and listen to movie, show, and book review and analysis videos because I'm a nerd that's interested in the mechanical side of things and why things do or don't work.

I cant stand the 6-8 episode format. They always start out good and then by episode 3-4 they absolutely fall off a cliff and the finale is 100% of the time A WASTE OF TIME !!!

One possible explanation of Mae deciding to turn herself in... If this "Sith" (Or what ever he is) is forcing her into these murders, "Against her Will"...
You may compare it (Somewhat) to two people in a toxic marriage relationship, where one is physically/mentally abusing the the other... Eventually, the "Victim" will likely turn on the abuser in some fashion (Run away, turn them in, resort to violence, murder, etc)...
One thing I noticed, right before Mae had her "Change of Heart"... She referred to the Jedi as the bad guys, yet her description of them as bad guys didn't fit what she was saying about them (I don't remember exactly what she said, because I only watched it once, and I refuse to watch it again for two reasons... It is not good enough to rewatch, and I don't want to pad Disney's numbers of people watching)... Regardless of her exact wording, it caught my attention because Mae seemed to not be enjoying her Kool Aid as much as she did in earlier episodes...
Keep in mind also, that criminals (Even hardcore ones, do turn themselves in once in awhile... Sometimes a conscience will wear you down, assuming you even have one...
We also have to acknowledge another fact of nature... Disney WILL be Disney, and they have proven over and over again they don't care if their stories make sense any more then they do if audiences like them or not...
Just for the record, despite my feeble attempts at optimism, and WANTING this to be good, I fully agree that this is a poorly written excuse of a show, and is NOT worthy of having the "Star Wars" logo attached to it...
I also could care less if any given character is LGBTQ or not... I demand well written characters that actually give me a reason to miss them if they were gone... So far the only character in Acolyte that I would actually miss would be Master Sol... To me, HE is the heart of the show so far... Everybody else are just "Throw Away characters"... Easily replaced... All due to poor writing/directing... Not necessarily the actors faults either...

I've stumbled into Acolyte reactors, and I don't know if its the pressure of it being a reaction channel so everything is expected to be liked, but it seems like there is a large percentage of reactors who don't seem to think this show is trash. I don't get it.
I think you nailed it with the people reacting to this. We will always tell after how we felt about it even if it’s negative.
A lot of them get early access to shows, invites to special functions, and SWAG bags. They don't want to risk losing those things by calling a turd a turd.

Also about the personalities - Not only do they come out very stiff, they also display a very negative air to them. These do not appear like the keepers of peace we have heard about. They appear corporate. They seem like they hate working with each other. Their judgement is questionable and they feel duplicitous.

People love redemption arcs because they take time, and people can both sympathise and see for themselves everything a person goes through to make up for their wrong ways. This skipped the entire redemption arc, giving nobody a chance to believe that she is truly re-habilitated and or regrets what she has done. You can't have worse writing. Literally, its impossible.
I have not been watching the show, because all of the reviews have been much more entertaining than I think it could ever be. I find it sufficient just to laugh and roll my eyes at the many clips that are out there.
Im glad youre taking one for the team Natalie, just seeing some of the short clips of it was enough for me, Sisoring lesbian space nuns and diversity overload is way over the top for me.

Look, I don't want the Acolyte to be longer but you are right when you say "why are these episodes only 28 minutes?" I don't get it either. Probably one of my favorite seasons of tv in recent years, Stranger Things 4, really nailed it for me. It was almost like watching a movie with the last few episodes. How is Disney spending 20 million on 28 minutes?!
