November Bass Fishing

  • Don't pack away the lures and rods just yet!!
Although we are well into November and with Christmas just around the corner, there is still excellent bass fishing to be done. All the bass I have come across in the past month have been very well conditioned, after heavy feeding in the high season.
But that doesn't mean they will turn their nose up at your lure, not yet at least. The water temperature in this area we were fishing was 11.8 degrees celsius which is still plenty warm for some lure activity. I've heard old timers say that generally the bass stop chasing lures when the water temperature drops below 10 degrees celsius. There may be truth to that, but I have some theories.
In the colder months I am going to pack away the paddle tails and shallow divers as I believe a lethargic fish in colder water would chase those lures probably 1 time out of 10, and hit those lures significantly less. However, if a fish sees a lure, such as the one that worked for me today (Sidewinder bass stick 6"), darting past it looking injured and disorientated, a bass would be much more likely to hit it because it screams to their instincts that this is an easy meal. I think the same goes for top-water lures that can be worked slow, such as the Fishus Espetit. I will put these theories to the test over the colder months.
Enjoy the video and please leave a comment with some of your theories about bass fishing.

🤣🤣🤣 I let 99% of the bass I catch go, simply because I don't enjoy eating them as much as other fish such as Pollock. However because most of the fishing I do is for bass, I take the odd one home to cook for myself and the missus 😁

Well done Dave great to see your still getting out. I’m surprised you said in a comment that you enjoy eating pollock over bass not that i would turn my nose up at pollock which i do eat if i get a sizeable one but bass for me is a higher quality meat on the pan that i enjoy immensely, hey why didnt peter get his fish tagged.hope to see bass fishing into December. Cheers

@@romanomorelli2831 I'm trying to focus more on tagging the larger fish, so hopefully it deters people from keeping them when they see the tag in the fish. Don't get me wrong, they are well within their rights to keep large bass, outside of their protection period, but the larger female fish are much older and produce significantly more eggs than the smaller ones 🙂
