I don't know about you, but that sounds wonderful for arthritis and chronic pain. Heat always makes my arms feels so much better. Hot sand showers helped during physical therapy. Now I definitely want to try this. :)
SUBTITLES: If you'd like to help with the subtitling and submit your language to the video, I'd love the help! Please reply here and let me know how I can give you credit for your work in the video description. I also welcome submissions for subtitles for other videos you like in the series :) THANK YOU!!! -john
+Only in Japan This may be irrelevant to subtitling, but as fascinating as this is, a sand bath that is heated to this extent would be nothing short of suicide for me thanks in no small part to a hereditary kidney ailment that severely and very negatively affects my ability to retain water. As a result, I overheat with frightening ease. This is like a hot tub, but far worse. 😥😷😵😱
I've done this when I was very little, but I believe we were in northern Honshu, I think. I just remember my butt burning really badly and I think I only could stay in there for a min or two haha. Either way, it was a fun experience :) I'm glad you were able to experience it as well!
those who dislike your videos are so negative they don't understand how hard it is to create a single video. Been to Japan 5x and experienced some of what you experienced as well and I truly miss Japan. Your videos help me get over the nostalgic moments. Thank you. I guess posting these in Facebook steal your views.
Best channel about Japan on youtube! Thank you for showing me so much. I have watched all your videos to prep myself for a two week trip to Japan, I have honestly been using your videos to plan my trip they are that helpful. When we take our trip I want to be able to speak some Japanese and really explore. I don't want to just be stuck in tourist traps and fully English speaking hotels. For those two weeks I want to live like a native.
I wonder why you got so few subs, only a million? That is crazy. I binge watching your channel everyday to learn more about Japan and English! Your voice is comforting.
John you know the heat makes your blood flow and gives you endorfens and those endorfens make you feel good. That's why you giggled at the beginning of the treatment. Your body was feeling free. I can't wait to try it.
+FireCracker3240 Thank you! I'm doing fine in Tokyo, but I know Kumamoto is still suffering with loads of aftershocks. Sending prayers and good wishes to them! -john
This was amazing! Thank you for this video John :). Another place to add to my list of places I MUST visit if I ever go to Japan. I am extremely thankful for the basic travel instructions you add at the start of every video as well :).
Thank you for the feedback! Kagoshima is missed too often by visitors to Japan. That's a shame. Kyushu island is the most volcanic and had the best onsen AND there are fewer selfie stick tourists :) please make the trip here. Guarantee it will be he best part of your trip! -John
Wonderful video I love the mix of Fahrenheit Celsius, Japanese English, entertainment education, geography and history. With a little bit cool Seabreeze.
+SUPERGENKI JAPAN I was there in January actually ... I missed the February eruption by a week. I made another video highlighting Sakurajima as well. Love Kagoshima! Have you been down there? -john
Hey John! I enjoyed this video v much! You should be on tv, excellent quality, I love onsens, and this volcanic sand bath is new to me. Maybe you could make a video to tell us more about yourself! I am interested in how long you've in japan, why are you interested in japanese culture, and how you learned speaking japanese so well! And please make a mandatory food video for every new area, city you visit!! :) I love japanese food(love your previous vids on food, markets, etc) and I want to know more about each city's specialties...I would love to visit other areas of Japan, other than Osaka and Tokyo and you have made me discover things I wouldn't have known! Thanks John and please never stop making videos!
I love your videos...just discovered them today! Japan is such a beautiful country and your channel makes it almost like being there. Of course, I will need to travel there for real someday...can't wait! Thank you so much for your wonderful channel!!
This week I watched every last one of you videos and left a subscribtion! Love this channel! Also when I was young my mum ised to do this at the beach when we were on vacation... Now I know why :P
Wow. THANK YOU! Makes me so happy to hear people can watch the series and not get bored. Very much appreciate having a new subscriber! Right! I guess being buried by sand has benefits the circulation. Moms are wise :) -John
Wow looks so much fun!! Def want to go visit the bottom islands of Japan one day! Be careful though John, it's not recommended for younger men to be in heated places, like hot springs for example, for long periods of time!
I plan on going to Japan when I am older and love people showing Japan. Thanks to anime, I started studying it and have for 4 years. Thanks for the video! :D
Hey man, thought I had to tell you what a big fan I am. I love the hard work you put into these videos. You really give the Japanese experience to someone like me who hasn't been there yet, and you definitely make me want to go there myself. Gotta thank you for that. Keep up the good work!
+2PLAY 2K Thank you! I love doing this and can't wait to release the next one. I wish I could move faster but I want each one to be special in its own way -- which makes it an adventure. For me too. Really really appreciate the support and kind words of encouragement! Def come for a visit! -john
Super fun video. Would have been cool to see a few more sights & scenery around Ibusuki. Do any towns or cities in Kagoshima use the volcanic activity for geothermal energy?
So, what did you like better out of the two onsen's? Did you like the sand or the water one. I mean did you find the experience & relaxation better than a regular onsen or pretty much the same but just different? Great video by the way John. Thanks for sharing.
thank you, you always make really cool videos and actual reports of the places. I have seen you visiting different places all around Japan. May I ask you where do you actually live normally?
Woo-hoo\(^o^)/that means a lot. "I'd like to thank all the viewers who make this show such a success. If no one watched, I would not be accepting this award!!" ... Thanks for that :) made me happy. -John
I thought so too -- isolated that in 5-10 seconds in one shot from behind. I could have lived in that moment for a month but -- then again, I was under really hot sand so ... -John
This is the 1st time I hear about the volcanic sand baths. Would love to try it when I travel to Japan in the near future. Thanks for posting this video and always having interesting topics. Love your videos!!! ;-)
+Aileen Hernandez You're welcome and I'm so happy to hear you like the series! Keep me motivated :) please try it when you visit because this area of Japan is loaded with stuff to do that is so interesting! I've got a couple of other episodes from stuff I filmed while in Kagoshima. Thanks for the support Aileen! -john
Just plain crazy! This tradition puts a whole new meaning to the "Ring Of Fire" chain of islands that surround the volcanic area of the Pacific Ocean. I'm SO going to go here! Wow. I WILL outlast John's time though :)
It did, like a lid on a pot. It didn't cool much after 10 minutes. My back was the hottest, the reason I got out. I went on January. I can see July or August being unbearable! -John
+joshua bethel Welcome back! I remember your comments from before Joshua. Always so supportive :) Thank you!! Yes, still at it and "or something" is on my list of things to do by this summer. Working on a new program opening and logo. -john
My online friend's currently living in Hawaii, and she enjoys going to the hot springs! It's a shame there's no Volcanic Sand Baths there or here in the states, that sounds relaxing!
SOLD. I really want to try this now. When I first heard about this I was like "A dirt bath? Sounds like a threat.. Shaddup, or I'll give you a dirt bath!" Lmao.. Now I really want to try this. I probably wont last more than 5-7 minutes..
I tried a sand onsen up in Iwate, it was really an awesome experience I must say (and I did :D ). I can really recommend this, it is a experience that needs to be tried out.
I'm addicted to watching this series. It's so entertaining and educational!

I don't know about you, but that sounds wonderful for arthritis and chronic pain. Heat always makes my arms feels so much better. Hot sand showers helped during physical therapy. Now I definitely want to try this. :)
I agree, plus the pressure from the sand.
SUBTITLES: If you'd like to help with the subtitling and submit your language to the video, I'd love the help! +I am a cat? How come you say kid every time, you don't know if that person is a kid or not.... Dumbass
+I am a cat? That really doesn't mean anything what I'm talking about.
Every time I see that intro, that 3-d effect always gets me
I've done this when I was very little, but I believe we were in northern Honshu, I think. I just remember my butt burning really badly and I think I only could stay in there for a min or two haha. Either way, it was a fun experience :) I'm glad you were able to experience it as well!

I can't wait to live in Japan!!!!!!😁
Really? Where are you moving to? -J
You can't because Japanese doesn't like outsiders to settle in their country especially Muslims. John's lucky as he promotes Japan.
Japan never stops surprising us. You are doing a great job showing all those amazing things to the rest of the World.
John you know the heat makes your blood flow and gives you endorfens and those endorfens make you feel good. That's why you giggled at the beginning of the treatment. Your body was feeling free. I can't wait to try it.

That must have been a very unique experience, really something I want to do when I visit Japan.
So awesome! That is quite an experience
Looks like a really interesting experience. I wonder: Did the sand that was on top of you stay hot throughout the duration of being buried?
It did, like a lid on a pot. It didn't cool much after 10 minutes. My back was the hottest, the reason I got out. I went on January. I can see July or August being unbearable! -John
Great, thanks for the tour!
