Crazy to see the guys at Nostalgia Alley get shouted out. They just helped me get my uncle a new Sega game gear recently. Those guys love to talk shop and they’re insanely friendly. They get some absolute gems occasionally and manage their social media incredibly well. Though not as many people make it all the way to the north bay rather than the east bay/south bay

Amazing selection of domestic and import video games and toys at great prices. When it closed it was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. The current champion for me is the Experience Share over in Alameda.
Aw yeah, Network Video frickin ruled! Used to get all my import PS1 and Saturn games from that place when I was in my early 20's! And Nadie was a sweetheart!

Hussain owns both The Retro Rewind ( Milpitas)& Save N Continue In Santa Clara. Hussain's Nephew Jamal manages and runs Retro Rewind, Hussain Manages Save n Continue in Santa Clara, I don't remember the young man's name who works there, but yeah he is Super Nice. If you get a chance next time around hit up The Cartridge Cartel in Fremont California, and The Retro Fix 2 Turbo in Downtown Campbell, Rudy who is the owner is a hella Nice guy, along with his worker's
His prices suck though. Everytime I went there the prices he has on games are so high. Gameshop downstairs(DTSJ) is the best retro game shop in southbay IMO

I love a couple blocks away from the Experience share and hands down they are the nicest bunch I've ever met. Also as a long time bay area resident I can say that I can't imagine living anywhere else.
My go to was Games Etc in San Francisco off 33rd and Noriega. I went all the time when i was a youngster buying up all the import Saturn and DC games. I was soo sad when they closed. Network Video in Burlingame was my other go to buy they're gone now too. Happiest memories but now sad reminders that gaming aint what it used to be anymore.
It's not as notable, but I can think of two places on the top on my head: Streetlight Records in San Jose doesn't as many games as some of these stores (compared to their CDs), but it's an entire section of them, from a good variety of generations, and it's certainly a better selection than Rasputin's. Spacecat in San Jose does comics as it's most known thing, but has a large section dedicated to retro games. They're a little expensive, but so is the whole industry.
Phoenix Games in Concord (East Bay) is on the smaller side but has a great selection and a good amount of arcade cabinets, and pinball machines inside that you can play.
Phoenix is absolutely amazing! They offer a fantastic selection of items, including rare Philips CD-i games and a wide array of popular titles. Every visit ends with me making a purchase because their collection is just that good!

i bought a copy of true crime streets of ny for xbox and there was a copy of destroy all humans inside. i asked the staff at planet mix how much they wanted for destroy all humans, and he just left in in the case and told me not to worry about it. cool experience, great store, staff rocks
I love records, I just didn’t have time, just one day to go around the bay, so I had to limit my time at each place, there were tons of stores I didn’t get to see at all
Great video! I didn’t know about the Save and Continue store at all until this this popped up on my feed and it’s very close to where I live in the South Bay. Also I’m surprised you didn’t come across the Retro Fix 2 Turbo store in Campbell and Nostalgia Alley in Petaluma. Both are amazing stored that have a great selection and reasonable prices along with some super rare finds. The former is very 90s fighting game themed and has started hosting tournaments for some of the current fighting games like SF6, Tekken 8 and Guilty Gear Strive on the weekend sometimes. The owners are amazing people as well for both stores. I highly recommend both.

How did I not know about any of these? I still have a Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, original Gameboy, VirtuaBoy, and more. I could always use another controller or game. 😃
Hey Paul! I’m in the bay area aswell and I was genuinely curious since you travel around a lot what you consider as some of the best arcades? Outside of Round One obviously. I miss the good days of arcades where you could walk in and see a community of other people especially as someone who genuinely loves fighting games like Street Fighter or Marvel vs Capcom. Maybe one day you could make a video visiting all the local arcades of the Bay Area?
I will be darn! Bay Area has video games store?! The last time I’ve seen them were in Southland Mall and Nob Hill Foods in Alameda and that was 10 plus years ago.
When you're back go north a bit in the East Bay and check out Phoenix games in Concord, love that place and they have a great mini arcade right in the store as well

also a pretty decent place is "Card Art" in Sunnyvale near the golfland. it's like half video games and half trading cards. they do tournaments and stuff, too. kinda small, though

I’ve been to game world (aka game and t shirt) retro rewind save and continue and gameshop downstairs and they are pretty good. Game and t shirt is a little overpriced on some stuff though. Also I believe save and continue and retro rewind are connected.
Surprised you didn't stop by Phoenix Games - that store was my childhood and how I have a good selection of Tony Hawk and even other niche stuff like Family Guy on 360 and a good amount of SOCOM on PS2
I’m not saying if you should but in Michigan we have cd exchange there is one in Muskegon my home town or one in holland love that place they always hook me up and make it right all if anything happens 😃 there prices are comparable to or cheaper than game stop and they sell everything from nes to Xbox series x/ps5
game shop downstairs fucking sucks. owner seems cool at first but his ethics are awful. i was trading in stuff for a bit when one trip i purchased 8 games or so. shockingly only 2 worked, the others were badly resurfaced and some cracked. i brought them back and instead of giving me the value of what i gave him, he gave me trade value. this was whatever to me at the time, but it happened again after buying afro samurai and conker reloaded (conker was in the fancy case). I explained the situation to him and instead of attempting to save a good customer he ignored me and looked the other way to talk to someone else.

That was super far away. I was doing a loop. Sf to San Jose, San Jose to alemda. Just didn’t end up going up because of time constraints
