"EarTrumpet" is definitely a huge improvement on the windows audio mixer. But in some circumstances you have the same issue where you have to tab out of a full screen application in order to access it.
You can access app-specific volume controls in the overlay when you click windows-g buttons, which I think you should be able to access even from full screen applications as well. Not as tactile or easily reachable, but a lot less disruptive than having to go into the start menu at least
Thank you for commenting that. So much better than having pay 70 dollars for this device. I hate having to tab out when using chrome, a game, and overlays. This helped out alot with that issue with no charge.
@@CliffArmijo np, yeah it's the worst! I use it constantly, especially great when I hop on a discord call or something I can turn down a game while on the call or something
The focus of this channel is exactly what I've been looking for! Macropads and other alternative input devices as you put it are something I've been super interested in for a while now but would rarely come across, with the most interesting ones often lacking any substantive reviews. Looking forward to more content!
If you're looking for macropad-type devices, definitely take a look at the Stream Deck if you haven't already. I'm not a streamer myself, but use one for productivity at work and quite like it.
I cannot thank you enough for this. I don't know how it ended up on my recommended page, but I've wanted this exact device for so long. A physical alternative to volume mixer has been my dream gadget for years.
'toggles the output of my computer' ... omg, I need this. I just discovered your channel and every video I've watched has been amazing and addressed real productivity issues I face almost every day. I had no idea these gadgets were out there. Thank you.
For people who dont have this and want to manage volume for apps easier: Windows 10 and 11 have Xbox Game Bar, which can be opened at any time with Win + G. This opens an overlay, and one of the windows you can add is the volume mixer.
The PC Panel looks great. Lack of Linux support kills it for me, but building your own isn't too challenging and QMK already exists to put on it. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to know how to control Spotify and discord volumes in QMK or VIA. I have a macro pad with 3 encoders but I only know how to change the main volume
I ran into this same problem. In 2020 when most of us were sent home to WFH permanently, I started finding issue like you described. PC panel was one of the first I was interested in but they were sold out. I ended up settling on the loupedeck and it has been amazing for audio control but also macro controls.
Although its a little bit more, I couldn't recommend the TurnUp Volume Mixer more. $80USD, it does 5 knobs and has buttons that allow you to setup different 'folders' for control. I have mine set to control Main, Discord, Browser, Current Application (Fullscreen Games), and Cider Apple Music. Clicking the button then goes into the folder I setup for that application. If I press the Discord button the lights change indicating that I am in a different workplace and I have macros setup for Mute and Deafen. This hardware paired with EarTrumpet on the Microsoft Store have solved all my audio balancing issues.
Came across this channel in my recommendations and I just wanted to say keep up the nice work dude. The quality of your content is comparable to some of the much larger tech/keyboard channels I was shocked to see you at >1k. Look forward to seeing some more gadgets like these, love this type of content.
I'm so happy this thing popped up in recommended videos. That gadget is aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, it's simple use is awesome, and that price wow.
The care, detail and RESEARCH that has gone into these videos but not only, the style and aesthetic of this RUclips channel overall absolutely shows and I cannot wait to watch the success of this channel explode! Here before a milli subs!
For the DIYers, there is free, open-source software called "Deej" that handles the Windows Mixer and can interface with an Arduino (and possibly others). Could be fun for integrating such knobs into a custom keyboard.
Just purchased one recentl, costs way more to get it to the UK but 100% worth it. One of my favourite features is the focused mode, so whichever window you have open it will turn the sound down on that. Very useful when gaming and using Discord at the same time.
I was looking for something like this 6ish months ago and I found a program called MidiMixer that can work with any midi controller to adjust volume mixer settings. Only down side is that MidiMixer only works to launch apps, adjust volume, mute, and play/pause/skip music. Edit: apparently you can actually use it with OBS and a couple other apps too
You have quickly become my favorite RUclips channel in only 3 videos. You’re going to have 100K and 1M subs in no time. Feels kind of wild to be here in the first 1K. Thank you for introducing me to input devices. 🙏
even after 8 months, it's still $70. But for what you get and the tech inside, it's very reasonable and not overpriced. Hope it'll go for $45 on a good sale, but even at 70, it's well worth the money from what I've seen online.
A good stop gap measure if you can't afford this is called "Ear Trumpet". Its a windows plugin that make the volume mixer way better and allows you to edit each source individually right from the task bar, no need to open a new window.
Your production style is fantastic and very informative, thank you for continuing to make videos like these. You're the reason why I now have a Spotify Car Thing!
Have you considered using Voicemeeter? Way more versitile and not dependant on any specific hardware. You can map pretty much any function to any key and even Midi-Devices, if you like knobs for volume control. If you pair that with something like Autohotkey you can not just replicate the functionality of this thing, but do pretty much anything - as basic or in-depth as you want. I know it's not as quick and easy to set up as this, but it's absolutely worth it. I've been using both for years and they have completely changed the way I use and interact with my pc.
To anyone interested in this product just be aware that the creators of PC Panel don't provide any updates to their customers for orders placed or customer support. Some people placed their orders and didn't receive them until months after and only got back radio silence from the team. Others have complained about receiving defective products and the constant theme based on the comments on their socials is that this is a great product but the creators may have overwhelmed themselves with more than they could handle since each PC Panel is made to order. I just ordered mine and I'm just hoping I'll get it sometime this year. Disappointed that so many others have had negative experiences, it's a shame.
Mostly just watched this out of curiosity. I've had a rack mount style DJ mixer on my desk for years to do this (pc, game consoles, chrome cast audio, and external sound card I use for FL Studio and voice chat) I love being able to switch between my speakers and headphones quickly with it too.
Let me tell you something... Xbox game bar is the most underrated app on windows. I use it all the time. It opens up on an overlay over anything you are doing on your pc and doesn't interrupt or conflict with anything. There is a sound panel widget built in and you can access sound controls easily from that menu. There is also a Spotify widget so you can almost do everything that spotify hardware device can do. It's a Spotify media control widget. Ironically there is no general media control widget. You can be in the middle of a game and open game bar without having to exit anything, gamebar overlays on top of anything, it's like a separate exploror.exe instance. I made game bar a dedicated button on my mouse. You can take screenshots easily, there's even a type of task manager you can end programs with. it's like a virtual desktop you can make appear on top of your desktop. you can pin any widget to the screen when you turn off game bar overlay to keep it on screen. I wish there were more widgets for it. I bought a beacn mix to do exactly what your device does, and I use xbox game bar sound control instead once i discovered it. The best thing is that Game bar sound controls will allow you easy access to the other app volumes because you only have 4 dedicated knobs.
I’ve literally bought each item after watching your reviews. You’ve found the perfect items that I needed to take my setup to the next level. Keep up the awesome videos, looking forward to them!
THANK GOD… I was looking for something like this. I usually play FF14 while chatting on discord and listening to a DJ on Twitch… and the volume mixer always messes up my audio levels when I have discord turned on. I hope this can solve my problems.
This would be perfect for my setup but the lack of Mac support is a bummer. I'll keep my eye on the company and hopefully they offer some future support there.
@@beanwithbacon Sure thing dude. I'll entertain your unsolicited advice. What PC/Operating system combo would you suggest I use that would run photo editing software and is also not tainted in your eyes?
@@ellefizzy PS runs just as good on Windows as it does on MacOS. Apple's locked down ecosystem, refusal to use industry standards, and holding back technology solely for the sake of profit (often tech that is available just software locked) is nothing more than digital fascism.

If you just want more people to use Windows then you’ll be glad to know that I also use Windows 10 for gaming. My Mac is my work station and my PC is for gaming. Windows 10 and 11 has a quick shortcut for mixer win + G. It brings up overlay that quickly goes away with single click so it doesn't get in the way of games.
You may want to enjoy the joys of multiple monitors over a single ultra-wide. Vertical screen space is worth having as well. Discord on a 24" Portrait display, a large 32" main display and a side display for media viewing.
Half-way through the video I was like, wow this is amazing, it's gotta be expensive. Literally not wanting to click the link because it would end up as another "when I have the money I'll..." WOW all that for $70! thats a great deal and the pro is only 100 with faders and an additional knob! wow Great review!
You can do this with any midi controller device and a programme called Power mixer, since it is possible to use any midi compatible device it is much cheaper. I have a nanoKontrol2 That I use to control audio levels for my mic, games and any software I can think of.
I think it’s worth mentioning a diy project called DeeJ, it’s basically the same thing and easy to do as well as cheap. That’s what I use daily and I love it.
I rock a 10 channel mixer. Being able to control my own mic monitor levels is well worth the larger footprint and having to run an extra sound card in the PC. That said, if this thing was around 2 years ago, I probably wouldn't have this mixer.
I wish I knew how it controls individual sound levels as I'm building a mech keyboard and that feature would be a neat thing to build in to a keyboard during then design phase.
this seems like a really great device especially if you use a usb headset, but for analog headsets, it's a little bit tricky because the output from a PC is typically garbage so you still end up needing an additional dac on the other side of this
@@maverickmoto Yea that's kind of what I was mentioning. I actually just picked up a numpad with similar capabilities to this and also have a couple dacs/amps plugged in, it's definitely an option.

Dude, please reach out to these companies to see if you can get some kind of affiliation deal going for yourself! Of the three videos currently on your channel, I am DEFINITELY going to buy two of them at some point... and THIS product, in particular, I never would've even known existed if it weren't for this video! I'd love to know that some of the money I spend on them will go towards supporting content like this. I've seen a lot of tech channels on RUclips, and you have enormous talent for making easy-to-understand, informative, concise videos. Keep it up!
Hey man, can't tell you how much I appreciate your comment. It took time to write up, and your feedback is incredibly valuable to me as an aspiring creator. Cheers dude.
Thanks man! I've had mine for a while and as well, but I didn't realize it could do all that... until recently. The RGB is way more impressive than I thought!
This thing looks cool and has some great functionality, but changing volume per application isn't a ting you have to exit games to do. It's a feature built in to Gamebar, so a simple WIN+G gets you there. If the PC Panel Mini had support for other OSs, or if you really want the extra functionality it's a great looking solution. But if all you want is to not have to go to desktop to adjust volume, that's a feature built into Gamebar, which comes with Windows.
while this is a fantasic idea and a must have for those of us who switch between speaker and headset that also don't like to mess around with windows mixer every single time. its an amazing option. i myself who is not a stream, hardly a content creator I opted for the new elgato stream deck + , mistakes were made knowing the price difference now and the functionality of the PC panel would of solved my issues and that i only really need control of 2 or 3 things quickly at once. once you use this or anything else to control volume that's not the windows mixer you can never go back to how things were before.
Placed mine under my monitor stand after finding it couldn't fit under my soundbar. The Software is so easy to use and the RGB is a plus for a gamer like me.
Your channel is amazing! I’ve watched the three videos and I ran to look for any other one you might have posted and found out it is brand new. You’ve got a super pro vibe! Great content, neat aesthetic, amazing sound and video! Keep up the good work and I just hope to be here to able to see it when it reaches 1M+ followers
I have been using Ear Trumpet for a while. Works like the windows 7 volume mixer, easy, reliable and uses zero resources. That if you want a software solution to the problem
Please tell me you are working on a desk setup walkthrough. Love your setup. You mind me asking what speakers those are? Been looking for some that I can attach to my standing desk and I love this setup.
I stumble upon this video when I was searching for a solution regarding my headphones razer nari. As I found, that headphones are discontinued and are no longer being made (I can still find some on amazon, but I gotta choose one from the store I bought as the credit is for their store). That headphones had one of the best features I ever found by chance that no other headphones has, that is the ability to control audia channels. For example, windows audio was tagged as gaming (so, alerts, youtube, anything that came from windows basically...) and discord was configured to output on the same devide but on a different channel, communication. This was amazing where I could boost up the discord and at the same time, tune down all other sounds, including any game (without having to configure individually each game). This device seems like it can do the same (however, I would have to reach for 2 knobs instead of one as it was on the headphones). Do you know if it's possible to achieve that with the software present, or I'll have to configure manually each application?
fyi Steelseries headsets have 2 wheels: one for game, one for chat. Sidenote: some models the "chat" is for sidetone only, those are mainly for PlayStation (but the work fine on PC, you just lose the chatmix).
Well, I suppose the selling point is out-of-the-box convenience. Because a regular midi controller for DAW combined with some open-source software for desktop integration would have way more knobs and faders for the same price or, alternatively, cheaper for the same amount of control.
Do you know how to control Spotify and discord’s volume in QMK or VIA? I have a a macro pad with 3 encoders but only know how to change the main volume
gotta admit the production quality of your videos are really great, cant believe you only have 600 subs rn. keep up the great work youre gonna be on the top if you keep working this hard
I started building something similar to this with an Arduino but never finished it. I ended up coding a windows mixer plugin for Stream Deck instead. I can say one thing, aesthetically, this is much nicer than anything I would have built lol.
where does this sit in the chain, in terms of a setup with an audio interface? Would I use the audio interface main volume output to control the overall monitor and main output mix, then use this to mix applications? Currently I have an audio interface that outputs into an analog mixer and use the stereo outputs of the audio interface into individual channels so i can physically control channels on the mixer fader. Trying to slim down my setup without losing the functionality.
There is also an amazing free software called "MIDI Mixer". It basically allows you to use any MIDI Device to manage you volumes and other things! For Example i got the KORG nanoKontrol 2 and it made my life so much easier, beeing able to change music or Discord volume while beeing ingame is so good.
a better and cheaper solution is using VoiceMeeter and a Midi controller. I for example use the korg nanokontrol 2. Which then let's me control all the sliders, knobs and buttons in VoiceMeeter

Amazing video, earned my sub! Not only do I want one of these, it feels like a great Christmas gift idea.
this seems like a really great device especially if you use a usb headset, but for analog headsets, it's a little bit tricky because the output from a PC is typically garbage so you still end up needing an additional dac on the other side of this
I have a Dac and amp setup. I just have my amp at a constant volume and I adjust the levels on the pcpanel.
@@maverickmoto Yea that's kind of what I was mentioning. I actually just picked up a numpad with similar capabilities to this and also have a couple dacs/amps plugged in, it's definitely an option.
Dude your videos are professional grade! Keep up the great work and I hope your channel blows up one day!
Ohh, that's a good weekend project! Thanks!
What great little gadget. I’d love one of these for Mac - if they bring software support for Mac I’ll be in like a shot.
I honestly expected this to be priced closer to $130 or $140. Also, I am addicted to your videos. You're sharing some awesome content that is super relatable and SUPER high quality. So thank you for what you are doing. The effort doesn't go unnoticed!
Thanks dude!
@@WorkFromHype you’re very welcome 🥰
I use a GoXLR Mini for this exact same job! It has chat, music and system for me to keep changing it all
Dude, please reach out to these companies to see if you can get some kind of affiliation deal going for yourself!
I recently discovered your channel with the macro pad video and now this. Fantastic work dude!
I use mine as physical knobs for my different Wave Link outputs, it’s amazing
My only issue with this is that getting it to work with all your games looks like it would be pretty annoying unless you only play a couple games.
Another great video! I also have the pc panel. I did not know you could program different colors to each knob lol
Thanks man! I've had mine for a while and as well, but I didn't realize it could do all that... until recently. The RGB is way more impressive than I thought!
Subbed. Your Mic must be top notch because the sound quality is great.
This channel is a vibe ❤
First off. Insane quality of a video. Secondly, what keyboard is that
This thing looks cool and has some great functionality, but changing volume per application isn't a ting you have to exit games to do.
Just found this video and I really really want one of these now! How cool!
Here is to million subscribers and beyond! This Pc panel is dope hey...mac support will make it a worthwhile investment
Placed mine under my monitor stand after finding it couldn't fit under my soundbar. The Software is so easy to use and the RGB is a plus for a gamer like me.
New subscriber here. Would love to see some videos on your guitar gear as a fellow guitar player. Love the channel.
Would love to see your complete workspace! Looks well thought out!
First video I saw was the Spotify Car Thing and loved every aspect of it. This video is just as great! Had to subscribe, keep up the great work!
I have been using Ear Trumpet for a while.
Works like the windows 7 volume mixer, easy, reliable and uses zero resources.
That if you want a software solution to the problem
This is exactly what I'm looking for. Although I prefer sliders, this is a really good small form factor which I think is better for a cleaner setup.
A. Fantastic video, as always.
B. For my fellow Linux nerds, this thing only works for windows, so don't get too hype!
Sidenote: some models the "chat" is for sidetone only, those are mainly for PlayStation (but the work fine on PC, you just lose the chatmix).
would love this if there was Mac support! Still, super neat!!!!! Excellent videos!
I have a a macro pad with 3 encoders but only know how to change the main volume
oh my god this thing is extremley useful. thankyou for telling us about this
gotta admit the production quality of your videos are really great, cant believe you only have 600 subs rn. keep up the great work youre gonna be on the top if you keep working this hard
Thank you for the comment and feedback. I won't let you down!
19k 😭
Your growing exponentially
I’m so inspired to chase my dreams now
Go do it dude! I created this channel in 2019 but didn't upload my first video until August 2022... It's never too late to go for it. 👍
@@WorkFromHype Thank you so much
These videos are omega clean, please keep up the good work! subbed with notifications!
I started building something similar to this with an Arduino but never finished it. I ended up coding a windows mixer plugin for Stream Deck instead. I can say one thing, aesthetically, this is much nicer than anything I would have built lol.
Omri Harel actually made a very similar project using Arduino Nano/Uno called Deej. He's got it pretty well updated on GitHub.
@@incogneko5 Cool, I'll check it out. Thanks for letting me know!
Great video! What desk mat are you using here?
where does this sit in the chain, in terms of a setup with an audio interface? Would I use the audio interface main volume output to control the overall monitor and main output mix, then use this to mix applications? Currently I have an audio interface that outputs into an analog mixer and use the stereo outputs of the audio interface into individual channels so i can physically control channels on the mixer fader. Trying to slim down my setup without losing the functionality.
I prefer the GoXLR Mini for this exact control. Plus the routing allows me to control mic & audio to 2 PCs.
dude, the audio output switcher is just... wow
I got the car thing for WFH because of you. This is becoming a dangerous channel
I used voice meter and addressed a couple of the dials on my headset to volume control. Voice meter is great but has a steep learning curve
Thank you for sharing this amazing little product. Much appreciated 🙏
Glad it was useful! Thanks for watching.
There is also an amazing free software called "MIDI Mixer". It basically allows you to use any MIDI Device to manage you volumes and other things! For Example i got the KORG nanoKontrol 2 and it made my life so much easier, beeing able to change music or Discord volume while beeing ingame is so good.
This channel is very nice. Hope it grows.
a better and cheaper solution is using VoiceMeeter and a Midi controller.
I for example use the korg nanokontrol 2.
Which then let's me control all the sliders, knobs and buttons in VoiceMeeter
