Hi! I’m a dancer, and I could explain what a transition is if you’d like. The transitions are the “in-betweens” of sections, and EXTREMELY important parts of dances, especially if you have a lot of people, like 9 members. Even if you have awesome and catchy and complex choreographies, if your transitions are terrible, the dance looks terrible too. You need to find smooth and interesting transitions, or else your choreo will look choppy and awkward. For example, in the prechorus of “Heartshaker”, the transitions were meh, therefore, the clock choreo (which was a nice touch originally since it corresponds to the lyrics) looked choppy and awkward, and it looked like it just didn’t fit. Meanwhile, in Feel Special, the transitions were beautiful, smooth and seamless. That's what made the dance look so fluid. Transitions need to be smooth and seamless, when you’re a viewer, you want to be entertained. You want to be thinking “Oh! How’d she get there already? Oh! And now she’s all the way on that side of the stage!” They have to be so smooth, that the audience can barely see them.
There are also certain things that make choreos look bad. As I said before, the transitions need to be good to get a nice flow. Choreographies also get bad if they don’t suit the song at all. You also need to make sure it “compliments” the song. Like, in “Heartshaker”, the chorus was repetitive, mainly because it was the same 2 girls singing it. That would’ve been fine, if they made the choreo in the chorus look more different each time. But, instead, the choreography was ALSO repetitve. Now, BOTH the song and choreo look boring, and doesn’t attract audiences. You also can’t choreograph too much on stage, or too little. It can look way too messy, or way too boring/simple. Dance is about finding that perfect balance in between. Without the balance, things are thrown out of proportion, and they don’t look as neat. Using different shapes with your body is always a cool way to make things interesting. Overall, choreos are bad if they are messy, repetitive, too simple, too complicated, too choppy, etc. I hope this cleared up a few things for you :)
Today I learned that if you gave any other group these choreographies it would probably be awful. I think twice is really good at selling anything lol.
I love your analysis...ngl thought you'd be bias but your points was great and I found myself agreeing to them, mainly because you're knowledgeable in this area. Thank you for the vid :)
No shade no hate. But I see a lot of people doing these types of videos, BUT they don't have dance videos or choreography videos to prove that they are a "professional dancer"
I'm dancing since I was 4 or 5 and if I had people like you.. I'd quit my life. I'm personally just not comfortable with showing such rare videos off and the only videos I have left rn are like some kpop choreographies which I didn't even learn and rather memorised by watching and found it enjoyable. The rest is freestyle. I can post pictures of my face but not videos of my body lol
Heart Shaker's choreo is actually based on the lyrics. The pre-chorus has lines like Love is Timing or something like that, so time clock movement or searching moves fits.
Now that I rewatched all their past dances, the quality of their dance really improved a whole lot omg just look at More and More and I Can't Stop Me :")
one thing i want to point out is that the more the group has more members, the more i expect better transitions. i hope the choreographers put effort into the transitions bc they make or break choreo. i choreo for my cheerteam, and i can't stress how much time we put into transitions alone. TRANSITIONS ARE IMPORTANT
Imo most fun to dance to are: 1. Fancy 2. Likey 3. Tt 4. More and more 5. Dance the night away 5.5. What is love (not really but I messed up lol) 5.6 signal (yep messed up again) 6. Like ooh ah 8. Yes or yes 9. Cheer up 10. Feel special 11. Knock knock 12. Heart shaker Why do they have so many songs wtf
late but i think twice sometimes really suffers from their large size during choreos. there’s just not enough space to make them not blend into a blob, especially since most of the choreo is identical for each member (with the exception of their 3x3s, individual moments, etc) basically it’s overcrowded, simplistic, and repetitive
For LOA they used to switch up who had the solo part in the dance break, it was mostly Momo but there were also versions of all other members, trio versions and duo versions
I think that's their charms. If the dance fit the song, then it's ok for me. And I also think it was cool that they always do the sign in the choreo that suits the song title. Do you planning on doing the other gg?
I would honestly switch heart shaker and knock knock. Knock Knock’s choreography is just absolutely boring to look at if it weren’t for the girls. It reminds me why it’s the only twice choreography I have had zero interest in learning it doesn’t even seem fun to dance to like Heart Shaker which I enjoyed learning immensely. Edit: if your dancers have to practically run to their spots that is horrible tradition choreography
I think the Cheer Up chorus did it's job perfectly. Twice were in desperate need of a hit song and the chorus for Cheer Up was easy for the general public to remember. Note: very odd to see the old version of ShyShyShy now, I'm still happy we complained enough for them to change it into something more memorable because otherwise Twice might not have gotten where they are now as it was mainly the ShyShyShy-aegyo (with the new choreo) and the chorus that made the song go viral
I don't have any problems with the choreo and arrangement though, its just that they are creative and doing hand movements base on the song and it really doesnt matter coz its twice and ofcourse as expected on their type of theme ofcourse they would do those weird cutesy choreo and it does not matter, well anyways its your opinion so keep up with it.
i think we can agree on one thing at least, no matter how the dance is, TWICE makes it seem exciting, their energies and stage presence makes it no boring.
well when you have a bunch of songs it’s hard to choreograph one so it doesn’t have repeat moves for the next song, also some of the dances are supposed to be easy to learn and fun to dance to in general but i do see the purpose in the vid.
I don’t really get why they changed Like Ooh Aah’s dance break (the most iconic thing ever) and also why they changed Cheer Up’s pre-chorus sooooo many times when the original Shy Shy Shy was the best
Twice choreography is really catchy but sometimes it is a bit over the places like where is the person singing right now, where should i focus right now??
hahahahh I know, I spelled choreography but I dont know why, dony ask me, for me coreo looks better. I know thats not right, but I have my mannerisms, sorry if it bothered you. and in my 3 videos saying coreo, you were the only one to correct me hahah

But if the creator themselves aren’t too bothered by your words, then it’s fine. Technically my own comment isn’t that necessary but I just wanted to explain some things :D
anyone else notice the 'worst' choreographies as considered the filler album/song they have in the year. Like TT was great song overall and Knock Knock was a "continuation" and it was meh? Same with Likey and Heart Shaker, Cheer Up vs Signal, etc.
One thing I don’t understand why most ppl expect extreme, hard, technical, complicated choreography. Not everything has to be so serious and straight. Some songs are meant to be just for fun.
I agree with the rankings, but I feel like the simplicity is partially because they need to sing while dancing so they need to be something that a singer could do while multitasking, even with rigorous practice.
if you find clips of the original choreographies for twice they go through a lot of changes, so much so you might not even belive the original was ever the intended choreography. That might be why heart shaker seems so different during the second half.
Is it just me that thinks these kind of videos don’t make sense, like u can like or dislike the choreography but just because 1 dancer doesn’t like it, it doesn’t necessarily make it a bad choreography because that dancer “knows what theyre talking about”
Their choreos are ok (Heart Shaker would be bad if the girls didn't made it shine), but techincally talking, they are meh, I'm a dancer and I can tell you that their choreos started to get great in Yes or Yes

@@KirigayaKazutoBeater kpop dance is more focussed on whos int the center and why its so simple is due to the fact that they want fans to learn it easily and poost it causing moe hype arund the group'
Kpop choreographies are pure Street Dance, that's the way they are evaluated, and this person know this and it shows
@@andrikfelix6507 not exactly
@@blaccrose2066 It is Street Dance, but some of them have elements from othr styles (tutting-Naughty and Stay Tonight, voguing-Stay Tonight again, ballet-WJSN's choreos, contemporary-Butterfly by Loona, etc)
I got triggered because I love TWICE and they've been disrespected by a lot of people..
But she didn't disrespected them...
For nondancers like me, these dances are fun to dance to. I like your explanations too.
I would love a video where you explain all the terms, like what's a transition lol and what makes a choreo bad?
@@CallistaYip Thanks you! This makes so much more sense now lol
Cristiana M
No problem! Glad to help :)
@@CallistaYip thanks
when you fastforwarded I kinda screamed.......
glad he didnt take it down hahaha only didnt monetize my video
rewatching this makes me realize how much I miss coconut hair Chae and literally just everything about Jeongyeon's hair in Knock Knock
I don’t know about the others, but they are pretty creative with these choreographies
I know nothing about dance or choreography, what i know is that THEY ALWAYS EVERY COMEBACK 💓 my queenssss 💓
I mean let's just thank their stage presence for making up those meh choreographies
Today I learned that if you gave any other group these choreographies it would probably be awful. I think twice is really good at selling anything lol.
Because they are Twice, that's their unique traits
@tan *twice as good
oooh everysingle time i see another episode of this series pleasee doo gfriendd 🥺🥺🥺
Exactly
Periodt
How can we believe how many yrs he/ she has practiced?
You don't need to believe that they are or not. She knows terminology and how to judge technique. That's your proof.
@@ginnundso Agree 100%! The only people that see my videos are my coach and my granny.
This is literally what i thought, I'm also a dancer, I've dance since i was 6
15:34 yes it's Nice ! I watch BTS reaction in MGA '18 and Taehyung even open his mouth like "Oooaaah"
Loved this! I would love to see you rate groups like Dreamcatcher, gfriend, wjsn, that would be really interesting! 😄
But can we all agree that they have this catchy music and easy choreography
For me that Pre Chorus on Like Ooh Ahh was really creative and out of the box which i like.
Where would you rank More&More in this list?
Heart Shaker's choreo is actually based on the lyrics. The pre-chorus has lines like Love is Timing or something like that, so time clock movement or searching moves fits.
Now that I rewatched all their past dances, the quality of their dance really improved a whole lot omg just look at More and More and I Can't Stop Me :")
i cant stop me is so easy
one thing i want to point out is that the more the group has more members, the more i expect better transitions. i hope the choreographers put effort into the transitions bc they make or break choreo. i choreo for my cheerteam, and i can't stress how much time we put into transitions alone. TRANSITIONS ARE IMPORTANT
I think you will enjoy Gfriend choreography. It would be great if you make a similar video for their dances whenever you are find time.
Imo most fun to dance to are:
1. Fancy
2. Likey
3. Tt
4. More and more
5. Dance the night away
5.5. What is love (not really but I messed up lol)
5.6 signal (yep messed up again)
6. Like ooh ah
8. Yes or yes
9. Cheer up
10. Feel special
11. Knock knock
12. Heart shaker
Why do they have so many songs wtf
Can you maybe do the same with IZ*ONE? I'm not a dancer so I'm really interested in your opinion of their dances :)
My second time watching! 😎😎😎
Omg they weren't that synchronized during their rookie era. Now they're a beast.
late but i think twice sometimes really suffers from their large size during choreos. there’s just not enough space to make them not blend into a blob, especially since most of the choreo is identical for each member (with the exception of their 3x3s, individual moments, etc)
basically it’s overcrowded, simplistic, and repetitive
HOW DID U COMPLIMENT THE INTRO TO LIKE OOH AHH BUT NOT KNOCK KNOCK. THEY WERE BOTH SIMPLE BUT KNOCK KNOCK INTRO WAS SO CUTE AND CREATIVE
I actually love Heart Shaker’s choreo because it’s fun and quirky. But I see where you’re coming from
I would be super interested in this type of content, but robot voice is difficult for me to understand (being HoH) 😭
Oof this series slaps! Please do IZ*ONE, their choreographers are so elegant and having 12 members means they can do cool formations
PLOT TWIST: 2 different people ACTUALLY CHOREOGRAPHED EACH DANCE THAT MAKES IT LOOK DIFFERENT!!!
Overall ranking of all choreos:
Fancy: 9.4
What is love: 9
Feel special: 8.8
TT: 8.1
Likey: 8
Dance the night away: 7.8
Signal: 7.7
Yes or Yes: 7.4
Cheer Up: 7.2
Like Ooh Ahh: 7
Knock Knock: 5.2
heart shaker: 5
I mean, I’m a trained dancer and I still shamelessly learn their dances and use it as part of my cardio so......
What was the song from the intro. I feel like I’ve heard it before
Sonatine by Loona 1/3
Yes or yes is actually one of my favorite choreo
could u maybe make one with izone? they have my fav choreographies in kpop!
Yes or Yes would get a zero in transition aspect
i think we can agree on one thing at least, no matter how the dance is, TWICE makes it seem exciting, their energies and stage presence makes it no boring.
well when you have a bunch of songs it’s hard to choreograph one so it doesn’t have repeat moves for the next song, also some of the dances are supposed to be easy to learn and fun to dance to in general but i do see the purpose in the vid.
unrelated but can i ask for u to analyze Tag Me by Weeekly's choreo?
I don’t really get why they changed Like Ooh Aah’s dance break (the most iconic thing ever) and also why they changed Cheer Up’s pre-chorus sooooo many times when the original Shy Shy Shy was the best
can you also analyze gfriend choreoraphies?
Could you make a ranking Gfriend's Coreos please
*Me thinking I can handle the triggers*
Also me: *Nearly screamed since I love Knock Knock and it only gets 11th* :’|
Twice choreography is really catchy but sometimes it is a bit over the places like where is the person singing right now, where should i focus right now??
I don’t mean this any rude way whatsoever but choreo has an H in it lol
hahahahh I know, I spelled choreography but I dont know why, dony ask me, for me coreo looks better. I know thats not right, but I have my mannerisms, sorry if it bothered you.
and in my 3 videos saying coreo, you were the only one to correct me hahah
forggstans Please don't write coreo it looks so bad and it bothers me so so much
@@dilara-kd9jr It's her/his channel and she/he can do whatever they want and besides no one is forcing you to watch this video if it bothers you so much
@@ble1470 I didn't say anything bad tho?? they liked my comment too so they're not offended it's none of your bussiness? i watch their video because I LIKE WHAT IS BEING SAID. doesn't mean typo doesn't bother me tho.
Dilara K. It just sounded a bit rude and demanding since as @Ble said, it’s forggstans’ own channel to do their own work on and no one’s forcing you to stay if the typos bother you so much (and it’s a _public_ comment section, people are bound to see your comments so it will become their business). But if the creator themselves aren’t too bothered by your words, then it’s fine. Technically my own comment isn’t that necessary but I just wanted to explain some things :D
I think twice dances are very easy u can learn it so easily 💛
Am I the only one who finds the Choreo attractive, maybe because it's Twice and knowing them they always give their best at everything.
Jeongyeon's chest bump:
forggstans: *NICE*
Can you do Gfriend next??
anyone else notice the 'worst' choreographies as considered the filler album/song they have in the year.
Can u make a video of u dancing to your fav twice choreo
if you find clips of the original choreographies for twice they go through a lot of changes, so much so you might not even belive the original was ever the intended choreography. That might be why heart shaker seems so different during the second half.
i love thisssss
im kinda glad that im awful at dancing and don't know anything about it cos i just think anything looks good lol
Is it just me that thinks these kind of videos don’t make sense, like u can like or dislike the choreography but just because 1 dancer doesn’t like it, it doesn’t necessarily make it a bad choreography because that dancer “knows what theyre talking about”
Their choreos are ok (Heart Shaker would be bad if the girls didn't made it shine), but techincally talking, they are meh, I'm a dancer and I can tell you that their choreos started to get great in Yes or Yes
simply iconic is right
