  • Ok, here's a little change up! My friends Matt and Mike were kind enough to invite me to fish the Douglaston portion of the Salmon River (in Pulaski, NY). While it was tough, we ended up getting into some solid fish! As always, I'll just remind you all... I'm no expert at this style of fishing, I'm simply learning as I go along! Regardless, I'm hooked!

      Thanks, yeah, they truly are a special fish... especially since they bite in the winter when there aren't many other options for fishing! Thanks for the comment!

    Nice video. Was there in late Nov, got skunked. Saw a few guys using the center pin rig for fishing. Suprised the splash of the float does not scare the trout. Going back again with my fly rod in the spring.

      Yeah, these fish can be elusive! Additionally, my friends and I fished the river a few weeks prior and got skunked as well! From what I've heard, the bite has been tough season... Tight lines in the spring, and thanks for watching!

    An awesome trip once again! so sweet to catch a fish that size in water like that and in the snow. The technique looks a little like fly fishing with a spinning outfit, and that rod tip looked really soft. You just use a bead for bait or sack of eggs?

    • @FishinAccomplished
      @FishinAccomplished  3 года назад +1

      Yeah... at the time of shooting this video, this was an entirely new style of fishing for me... Honestly, you'd never expect these fish to go after such a simple setup! It IS very similar to fly fishing, both in technique, and in form - super light weight, slow action rod... so when you hook anything of any size, it's a real tug of war, where you have to take your time, for fear of snapping the leader (4 to 6 pound test)!
      If anything, it is VERY finesse, and these fish can be very picky... We were throwing a variety of different things, but the setup that did the trick was single plastic trout beads (mimicking a single egg) or actual trout egg sacks. Thanks for watching!

    You get your hook up at trail ends property?

      I don't know the property super well... but this fish came towards where the end of it... near where it drains into the lake
