I live in Washington state. It's so interesting to watch the way you guys Salmon fish rivers back east compared to us over here in the PNW. Keep slayin em, tight lines!
Right on! I’ve only really chased Great Lakes salmon and I’ve heard this method isn’t really used anywhere else. Thanks for checking the video out my friend, tight lines to you as well! 🤝🏼
Fingers crossed for everyone over there! Certainly hasn’t felt like that huge push of fish has entered the river yet, hopefully this rain is what they’ve been waiting for! 🔥
I’d say that’s also guaranteed 😂 hope it’s worth it at the end of the trip though! Fly rod? Center pin? Drift boat? I’ve only ever been over there in the spring once and it was 7 years ago in April and got absolutely skunked. Hopefully the chrome cooperate for you, good luck! 😎
Thank you very much! I can’t wait either, we’ll be there again 9/22-9/24. The biggest king I’ve ever caught came from the lower part of the DSR! It’s nice to get down there in the afternoon after the morning crowd leaves 😎
@@One1won_me thank you very much! Itching to get over there as well, my annual trip is booked for the last week of September. Getting close! The song is called “Overrated” by Matt Large. For salmon it’s the last week of September and the first two weeks of October! I’ve had success there as early as September 10th, usually the fall run starts just after Labor Day in the US. For steelhead it’s November thru the end of March. Buongiorno! 🇮🇹 🎣
@@WoodsNorth Grazie!! good morning, it's my dream, but are you eventually chartering or you can recommend some good lodge or motel nearby the river? Thank you! Lorenzo, Panarea Gin
Peak season on the Salmon River is the last week of September and the first two weeks of October, generally. There’s no way of telling when the run starts. With all this rain we’ve gotten this year I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a good push of fish in early September. I’ve been there early as well and had dozens of hook ups. Those early fish are mean! Hold on tight and good luck! 😎
Yeah definitely a pretty large spectrum of experiences you can have there. I remember one of my first trips over there years ago, me and my buddy were fishing just above Compactor Pool and had to deal with other anglers elbowing us out of spots and a couple people intentionally snagging fish and keeping over their limit. I will say while I have seen the kind of behavior you mentioned happen before, I have found the experience at the DSR to be very much different and worth the extra money. Much less angling pressure and river walkers make sure everyone is getting along and no one is littering or breaking the law. Would highly recommend buying a day pass or two if you ever find yourself in Pulaski in the fall again.
I was using 14lb seaguar red label flurocarbon for my tippet which is heavier than most anglers use on the river. The majority of fish that are hooked into on the river aren’t landed
you guys need to control the line with your free hand. Make a strip or 2 so you don’t have to hold your rod 12 feet in the air. You won’t have any room to set the hook. It should be set downstream. Your rod tip should be lowered downstresm and closer too the bottom throughout the drift.

Right. In the PNW, most streams get closed when they trickle like that. To protect the runs.
@@Umakemelaff you are my hero ❤️
The rain we got Saturday and Sunday Oct 7 and 8th is gonna bring the real run!!!

Will do my friend! Pulaski is such a good time, even when the fishing is slow. Hopefully there’s a good run this fall! Thanks for watching 😎😎😎
Fishy fishy! Great camera shots

Awesome video ! Can’t wait til Fall 24’
It’s a hike, but I love fishing the lower part of the DSR, right below the Flats.

We will be there on the 26/27th. Finally landed my first this past Fall; unbelievable fishing !!!!!
@@art08474 it took me 2 years to land my first! It’s a very steep learning curve. Hoping they show up for us in big numbers this fall! 🎣
Oh they will. Was there 24th/25 last year, and they were moving. Just hope we get a little more rain for it this year. Good Luck and keep filming!!!!’

You’re welcome! You’ll still have a great time in early September and you will still learn a lot! Good luck 🍀
Least fun place to fun, everyone owns the water and if a guy down the river hooks up they just walk down and cut your line literally

Woods North are your tippets not rated right? How many fish did you lose? I know nothing.

Put a stronger line!
