Had no-starter solenoid at key turn on '97 Silvarado. On a lark, I searched here and came right to this. Figured I better check. I was going to crawl under and short solenoid, but was pleased to see the fuse and relay. That means no crawling to start with... Pulled fuse, O.K. Pulled Relay, looked at the pins, corrosion. Hot wire to started solenoid pin as demonstrated, fired right up. Cleaned pins on relay, all good. Thanks! You saved me a lot of hunt-and-peck!!!
Nice informative video. I've been jumping the two points that the relay connects (pink and blue) to start my '97 for over a year now. Just now trying to find where the ground point and splice point is as the rest tests good. It'll be nice to use the key again. BTW, you put the relay back in reversed. Should still work but I don't know if the fuse block cover would close.
Short but sweet! Great detail that is well spoken, to the point and understandable. The purple wire you mentioned, does that go to the starter? If so, is there a way to replace just that wire? I think that's the wire that broke off at my starter solenoid.
I’m going to replace that wire today. When I jump the relay my truck fires right up. Besides replacing that wire & the neutral safety switch, everything else is new on my 97 Silverado. Replaced the ignition switch yesterday. That was fun. 😂

Good video. My 99 Tahoe has a parasitic draw which appears to be coming from that 40amp Ignition circuit. I will test that relay and see if that's my problem. Thanks alot.
@@nehemiahsalone7086 Yes I still have it but I never figured out what my issue was. It was taking around 4-5 days for the battery to get drained so I installed a 10w solar panel in the windshield and now the battery doesn't die on me. I'd still like to figure out what's causing the draw though.
Thank you for this bossman..que my 99 suburban studderd wouldnt start I had battery checked it was fine so I went straight fur the starter . changed it out n same thing kept the starter cause well now it's new they told me to change out the starter relay fuse ..I did n nothing I swapped it out with the one right next to it n she fired up ..took it for a drive did good on n off like 10 times took kids to the park n she studderd again..sounded just like if battery was dead...do you think my ignition switch might be bad ..I noticed i have to wiggle it for my radio to turn on n it doesn't always work..thank you if you can help me with this question
On the green ground pin, I have ground with key off and then power on that pin when the key is on figured it’s a shorted wire but was wondering could a bad pcm cause this as well, before I go digging into the whole wiring harness, thank you in advance
I'm having trouble with my 98 Tahoe I put the wrong cables on the battery I crossed them so my truck cluster was glitchy and wouldn't turn on I got a new computer then bypassed the security by the 15min leave the key on on position 3 times I got the truck to turn on I left it on 15 mins then once I turn it off . Cluster started glitchen like flickering again. So one relay makes a sound I might change it tomorrow but everything was working the day I did all the swap and left it on . So I'm wondering is there a master fuse or relay for cluster ??
I don't see a main fuse only a relay that makes a sound and the cluster flickers once I take off the relay it stops I got more relays today I'll continue on it I don't think it was my computer fried

UNPLUG THE RELAY REPLACE THE FUSE IF STILL BLOWS THEN I WOULD CHECK THE WIRES FOR THE ignition switch OR REPLACE NOT HARD AT ALL AND NOT EXPENSIVE, IF GOOD CHECK THE SAFETY SWITCH CONNECTOR AT THE TRANSMISSION DRIVER SIDE IF THE WIRES ARE TOUCHING , NOW IF THE FUSE DOESN’T BLOW ITS MORE EAST CHECK FOR CRACKS OR RUBS ON THE BATTERY WIRES RED ONES IF NOTHING THEN JUST REPLACE THE PURPLE WIRED FROM THE STARTER TO THE RELAY … it’s a 10 or 12 i don’t recall THAT ENDED UP BEING MY PROBLEM ….RUN WIRED FROM STARTER UP AND ATTACHED TO THE WALL ALL THE WAY TO THE FUSE BOX WELL INSULATED ,OPEN CUT THE TICK WIRE INSULATION SEARCH FOR THE PURPLE WIRE CAREFULLY NOT TO CUT THE WIRES ( when you find it cut it and leave enough length to work with then attach the new wired to the cut one coming out from the fuse box replace fuse and try again I’m sure it will be fix ) BATTERY SHOULD BE UNPLUG WHEN REPLACING WIRED …. HOPEFULLY IS UNDERSTANDABLE

Hello I wonder if you could help me? I just bought a 1996 Sierra k1500 that needed a new spider. I installed it and the truck would not turn over. Unfortunately I did not even attempt to turn it over when I brought it home. It just makes a loud crank noise like a bad starter. I replaced the starter with a brand new one and no change. All fuses are good and I cleaned and checked wire connections. And engine turns over easily by hand. It did turn over twice for about two seconds and that was it. Also when it makes that loud noise when trying to crank over it draws the battery down immensely fast. I’m at a loss. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
finding nothing so far for this problem ... 98 silverado dual batteries... took them out to charge someone else put them back in... got 12v on both alls well there... try to start nothing no juice to door locks, lights, nothing.... blackout.... all fuses in fuse boxes checked all good... could they have accidentally hooked it up in series injecting 24 v into system and fried electronics?... is there a master link or fuse from the batteries that i cant find?... any help welcome
I have a problem with my 95 2 door tahoe I have no dash lights no crank no start it has a brand new odyssey battery all fuses are good it was working fine on Sunday and we swapped the steering wheel on it we went to disconnect the battery to remove the air bag and once we were done we connected the battery again and my truck did not start at all what could be the problem
I’m dealing with a 95 1500 sierra, looks exactly the same, the truck is totally dead I’ve replaced the battery and starter, what if I don’t have the 12 bolts at the fuse or that point on the relay, the fuse is good also , could you provide any guidance
Nice video! Im having a problem where i turn my key forward but it wont start the truck...i wired a push start in and it runs fine. I have power to my starter relay it just dont go past the relay to the starter..also i have no link at my obd2 it has power just no link...any ideas?
@@corriegeorge6248 Ya turns out when i put the engine in i forgot one ground wire. Hooked it up and everything was all good. It was the ground that hooked up to the front of the engine it ran down with the crank sensor wire.

One day I was driving my car forgot my cell phone came home got my phone jumped in my car and nothing happened so currently I don't know what the issue is but I am jumping my car like on this video from the starter relay and driving my car as is until I could go through the process of elimination
@@corriegeorge6248 Ya id trace every ground wire..everytime I've had a problem like this it always ended up being a bad ground. especially when you turn the key and nothing happens..im assuming when you jump the relay it runs and drives like mine did.. just nothing when you turn the key..what year truck do you have? Mine is a 99 and i also had to fight with a security because i wasnt able to start it with the key. But as soon as i found the ground, i hooked it up and everything was back to normal
Right next to the water pump on the front of the block there should be 2 grounds. and on the back of the block on the passenger side there should be another ground id make sure those are all good and clean... This may be a dumb question did you check the crank fuse if thats blown the truck wont do anything when you turn the key..sorry just trying to figure out what you tried so far

Same just put the battery wrong now it wont start but I’m pretty sure it’s the main fuse that blew

When I jump the starter relay it makes a short and it won't start at all 1997 k1500 what could be causing the short?
So if I wanted to wire a push button start I would hit top right term and bottom left term of course with switch in line?

The ignition switch could be bad. My 99 Tahoe went through 2 ignition switches in the 12-13 years I owned it.

Just replaced the starter and the 40 amp fuse kept blowing, put a new relay in and doesnt blow anymore but still wont crank
