Si! Aloha from Kauai- come hunt treasure here, man! I can hook you up with some private and secret places! My grandfather found a sovereign in a river on the day I was born. Its date is 1890. I’ve had it put in a mount similar to yours and I love wearing it.
I was hoping when I saw last night the title of today’s video it was just click bait! I was worried all night! I’ve had a hard enough time waiting for a new video every two or three weeks! No because it’s not only hunting for treasures but history that can teach the future ! The Thames especially has so many secrets hidden in its murky depths and as our tools grow we will be able to build on the items more and more. Imagine finding a simple clay pipe and being able to trace the dna on it to find the modern day ancestors of the last person to have smoked it. Or finding an unseen traders token that opens up the ability to recreate their store based on a combination of knowledge and ai. History is such a massive book, with so many tiny fragments of it lost to time, that every item amazing people like you find offers us more information about not only the period it belonged to but the people who used it. Treasure to me goes beyond the coin hoards or the mystical metal hidden in a hole waiting for that final spade of soil to be removed so it can once again be shared with the world, it’s about the forgotten voices that had lives that were never important enough to fill the pages of books or alter the path of the future in such a way that they are remembered in school lessons for decades and centuries to follow. You are able to fill in the picture of what normal people were doing, drinking, eating even smoking! To me when I think about the many treasures lifted from the earth or mud the most precious items are probably the shoes, as each through its wear tells the story of its owner and invites the future to imagine walking in their long since perished footsteps. So no, not unless it is a serious risk to you and your health, should you give up, there is still so much more out their to find, to explode our minds and teach us, A bucket list of finds has no end, it just gets redrawn when one is successfully found! I am a tad passionate about this as you may see lol!❤ wishing you and everyone else in the comments a fantastic 2025 and keep making history folks x
As a kid we went to the beach. There was a huge storm the week before. I can remember it like it was yesterday the noise the glare of the sun. It was 30 years ago now. But a gold coin was sticking out of the sand right and the break. I was to scared to run in and grab it and when I went to get my grandfather we were to late it was gone. I had grandpa dig and dig and dig. No luck. I still feel so sad we missed it.

So glad you'll still invite us to "come" with you. I always learn a lot. I live in Boston, MA, USA. I regularly find coins, household items, clothing. In a 6 week period in 2009 I found 2 cell phones, 2 blank checks drawn on the same bank, an American passport and a 6th item which I've forgotten now. You just never know.
Si, I find old coppers like that with various markings here in the U.S. that we refer to as picker tokens. These tokens were handed out to farm field workers to keep a tally of what they brought in, bushels and bails, which were returned to the farmer for payment.
You have a great new year and next year will be even more luck in the muck. You bring a lot of joy to people and educate people to the history that’s out there you and Nicola White are fantastic keep on going
Currently watching this waiting for the ball to drop here in eastern NC!! Congratulations on your amazing find!!! What a way to end another amazing year of mudlarking! Many best wishes for the new year!!
Wow! How exciting to find the gold sovereign? I love the set that Wendy put it in, simple and elegant to showcase the coin. Quite a nice little bundle of treasures for you and Cuffs. I love the footage of your kitties in the snow. I always think animals' reaction to snow is funny and interesting. Our little dog, a toy poodle, loved the snow. She would put her nose down and do an impression of a snow plow. But she hated the wind. Your cats seemed to have the same reaction of many cats. "What is this madness!" LOL! Hope you are having a great holiday season.
I was just about to be completely depressed, Si 😱 Very, very happy to realize that you didn't mean it seriously 😰 Glad to have you here.. hello from Denmark 🌸
Don't stop Si. It will always be in you. When I lived in England I got into buying and selling antiques. 16 years ago I stopped and moved to the Netherlands. I still have itching to get back to it, but haven't started again. It was a relief not to get up at the cracking of dawn, or earlier, to go to an antiques fair and yet that beckons me again. Nobody can make you do it. If you enjoy it, carry on.
So happy for you! And so glad you haven't lost your passion for treasure and history hunting. You scared me there for a moment. Cheers from California and Happy New Year.
The coin with the 3 T's. Is actually a Roman numeral III. It's know as a Roman token/coin - BRONZE SPINTRIA - NUMBER III And it's believed they were used as payment for entry into Brothels or Roman baths too. Overall information is scarce as not a lot is known about these coins but regardless, it's Roman and has a pretty cool story
Really had us going😅! Tuned in from Sydney this morning for my fix of the larrikin adventures of Si and Co. and I’m thinking Noooo; can it be!? Are you really hanging up the boots without a fitting finale or world tour!?? I’m sure I echo the sentiment of many in really appreciating the effort put into sharing your life and Thames; delving into the history that literally leaves no stone unturned and also the wonderful camaraderie with your eclectic bunch of mates! Have a great New Year’s 🎉and glad you’ll be mudventuring in 2025 and beyond! Cheers!
Congratulations on that beautiful Sovereign, Si! Of course you’ll keep on because by now, you know it’s the hunt and not necessarily the target. That Sovereign is just the gravy. And hey, worthy dance! Get in!
Hi Si great find the sovereign a little tip with barreling machine stick to brass or copper in one load as if you put silver or nickel in with old copper pennys it will turn them copper coloured 😊also you can buy the end caps online and make your own barrels from plastic waste pipes bought at diy centres 😊

We still have ours tap measure and we are in our 70s now
Awesome!!
The copper is smelted and might be a bit that's been removed with the slag. Mint video and especially the sovereign 👌💯💚💛❤️👍
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉🎉 You definitely scared me with the thumbnail!!! So happy for you!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Hehe. Sorry, but I wanted to make sure y’all saw this one
Currently watching this waiting for the ball to drop here in eastern NC!! Congratulations on your amazing find!!! What a way to end another amazing year of mudlarking! Many best wishes for the new year!!
Yey, gold in the hole🎉🎉🎉hi from Em n Mario.. bravo!!
Cheers Emma n’ Mario!!
Haha. Spot on Beth! 🐈⬛ 🐈
32:19 Copper from smelting in the Bronze Age...
Wow really???? Cool
Good shout
Yeah I wondered that too
Omg, Si!!! My heart dropped!! Been watching u for at least 5 years. Dont plat with my ❤!!
I hate clickbait but this better be clickbait!! 😮
Hehe
I was just about to be completely depressed, Si 😱
Very, very happy to realize that you didn't mean it seriously 😰
Glad to have you here..
hello from Denmark 🌸
Don't stop Si. It will always be in you. When I lived in England I got into buying and selling antiques. 16 years ago I stopped and moved to the Netherlands. I still have itching to get back to it, but haven't started again. It was a relief not to get up at the cracking of dawn, or earlier, to go to an antiques fair and yet that beckons me again. Nobody can make you do it. If you enjoy it, carry on.
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
So happy for you! And so glad you haven't lost your passion for treasure and history hunting. You scared me there for a moment. Cheers from California and Happy New Year.
The coin with the 3 T's. Is actually a Roman numeral III. It's know as a Roman token/coin - BRONZE SPINTRIA - NUMBER III
And it's believed they were used as payment for entry into Brothels or Roman baths too.
Overall information is scarce as not a lot is known about these coins but regardless, it's Roman and has a pretty cool story
That’s interesting I’d love to learn more so if there’s a website or something. Please share 👍🏻
What a great find Sy! Congratulations!
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
I bet you don’t 😆
You know me too well Roy
My husband is a bench jeweler. We use cola in our tumblers with the steel balls for the best shine/clean up
Defo Clickbait!!!
Cheers!
P.s. Cracking Sovereign too mate! Definitely on the bucket list but mine’s still empty😢
Congratulations on that beautiful Sovereign, Si! Of course you’ll keep on because by now, you know it’s the hunt and not necessarily the target. That Sovereign is just the gravy. And hey, worthy dance! Get in!
Hi Si. Happy New Year. From Minnesota USA
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Congratulations on your beautiful find Si! Amazing! 😍
Congratulations Si! I think that's a permanent smile on your face.....so happy for you.
Fantastic boys you both deserve it so much, I am so delighted for you both. Absolutely well done.
Dead chuffed you got your long awaited find Si and on Cuff's permission. It was long over due. Happy New Year and here's to many more spectacular finds in 2025! ❤
