Eugene Sidorov played Gabriel's Oboe at St. Paul's Episcopal Church this morning and it was magnificent. And he accompanied the choir with the Prelude to Advent arranged by Ruth Elaine Schram. A post recessional version of Angels We Have Heard on High was with oboe, clarinet and trumpet. What glorious music.
Fortuitously alerted to this straight away, by chance! Many thanks for such well prepared, rehearsed and performed effort. Never heard it played before, and super that that occurred at this level! Is the somewhat restricted dynamic range p'raps a result of the recording? Anyway, maximizing 'light and shade' is always a noble aim, and helps maintain interest. Thanks Kevin for your overseeing the project. BTW, so nice to see my metronome figures so closely observed - this is all too rare for composers! You proved they're spot on in practice! Allan
oboe is one of my favorite instrumants and i realy appreciate the effort that has gone into this
This is absolutely gorgeous and full of joy! Thank you for sharing!
