    try tying back the brushes with thread to keep those brushes in until you have it past the commutator. them you can cut the thread and pull it out great video ! Im working on a 7.5 hp that was completely seased up.

    Thank you so much for the help with opening the starter and cleaning it and putting it back together I got one right now in my garage for a 90 horse power force I’m working on and I was catching my ass to put it back together but thank you I’m bout to take it back out and clean it because I didn’t clean it I had seen that a wire was broke inside of it so I put the wire back together and it wasn’t starting so I’m going back inside of it again thanks so much with the video it explains a lot

    So I’m watching this because I’m doing the same with a 4 cyl Johnson outboard and I found to keep the brushes in I put small zip ties on them because 4 brushes was a lot to deal with lol. But i see it would be hard with the particular starter.
