Virtua Fighter on the Saturn is a much better game than this mess. Graphically there isn't much difference between the PSX and Saturn version of Toshinden, either. Tekken 1 came out on the PSX not much later and this game was forgotten forever.
Yes I went to circuit city and bought the PlayStation. The 1st day or came out. And this game! 2 controllers. Went home and had hours and hours and hours of fun playing my friends. It was great!

I remember my jaw hitting the floor the first time I played this game. It was the first PS1 game I ever played, and those 3D graphics were blowing my mind, lol.
I remember when we figured out that the background music was just a randomly selected CD audio track on the game disk, and you could swap the disk for another one after the bout started. It was so funny fighting to the sounds of Willie Nelson.
I remember when this came out me and my best friend would play for hours and boy did this have a good soundtrack. People hate on this game but it was and still is a blast to play alone or with a good friend.

I can't remember if I was at Target or Toys r Us, both were out of town and we didn't go their often because it was out of town. Anyone, the PS had just launched and I laid eyes on it for the first time during our shopping trip there. I had never experienced a 3D game before (well maybe Starfox), but 11 year old me was floored. They had a PS setup with the demo version of this game. Me and my stepdad played for quite awhile. I was instantly hooked. I never even heard of this game but I had to have it in my collection. That Christmas I got my PS1 with this game and Mortal Kombat 3. Just hearing this music brings a tear to my eye. Now I'm 40 years old and the soundtrack to this game still pops up in my head fairly regularly (Ellis's theme🔥). Music really is a time machine.
First game that make me crazy as a child. Back when I was young, it was only available on arcade machine in my local store. When my dad bought me PS1 and they make it available on PS1, I had no hesitate buying it at all. What really memorable for me the most is this game music. It is extremely good and give kind of unique 90s nostalgic vibe. The characters are also great. :D
I used to play the heck out of this, but one of the first things that stuck out to me, since I play competitively in fighting games now, is that Ellis’ “dragon punch” is unsafe on HIT? What the! XD
