    Stunning photography Liam, the black and white images bring out the atmosphere of the buildings and the era of its operation, love your Scotland trip, just magical. 😊

    Enjoyed the video, thanks. I was a student nurse at Gartloch Hospital mid 1980s, it was a magnificent old building in some parts. Hard to believe its deteriorated so much in forty years.

    The now demolished Western Infirmary had cockroaches which they couldn’t get eradicated. After they knocked it down the roaches crossed the road via the drains and sewers and started appearing in that social work building which used to be a school on Church Street.

    It looks like a fantastic trip, well planned with some great locations, the Black and white shots really work well with the natural grain of the film, it could have been taken 100 years ago.
    Also that castle an absolutely perfect use for the drone, it should convince any explorer that having one adds that extra dimension to the photos and videos, well done guys!

      Cheers Austin, pleased they came out well! Yep Joe smashed the drone footage with that, it had a really magical feel visiting at that sunset/dusk time of day.

    My great grandmother was interred in this system off and on 1901 through her death in 1935. Hopefully, much good was done, despite the look of things today.

    There's something special about black and white film. Out of curiosity, why did you choose black and white versus color?

    Such a shame if these buildings aren't given a new purpose. There must be a few ghosts hanging about there.

    • @BeyondthePoint
      @BeyondthePoint  11 месяцев назад +1

      It is a shame to see these impressive structures go down hill. But I suppose they also probably became quite old fashioned by the end. It's always a double edged sword but it shouldn't go to waste. Not seen any ghosts in all our years!

    I would love for someone to explore the old hospital on duke street next to the Lidl, every time I go past it I always wonder what it looks like inside

    • @smartieplum
      @smartieplum 5 месяцев назад

      The only thing surviving from the old Duke St hospital is the facade. It's all that was retained, the flats were add on new build however now suffering subsidence.

    • @ASilentSymphony
      @ASilentSymphony 5 месяцев назад

      @@smartieplum Even so, it’s still an abandoned building with lots of history and it would still be interesting to get a look inside, you never know you could find a few old items or other stuff. I think there definitely is an entrance somehow as I remember going to Lidl and hearing a fire alarm from inside the building go off along with seeing a bedside lamp lit on a bedside table from one of the windows once.

      Paisley is definitely not Glasgow; it's in Renfrewshire, a whole different burgh with a different history. Glasgow just likes to claim things that don't belong to them, such as the airport which is actually in Renfrew, and Braehead Shopping Centre, also Renfrew.

    The stone the buildings are built from is sandstone, either red or blonde.
    I hope you didn`t buy a bottle of Buckfast, its only popular with NEDS and you two don`t want to fall into that category.

      Also, my brother isn't a ned and he drinks it.

    The castle is Lennox castle.

      I spent a work allocation here in the 70s. The castle was used for staff accommodation, it was horrible . No locks on the room doors,huge building , very creepy . One night I heard someone walking around and stopping outside the rooms as though listening . We were all scared to go to the bathrooms on our own at night ! At least one of us had a breakdown and left. I went into the vast kitchens one evening and every surface was swarming with cockroaches … disgusting . They had “locked wards” where patients with violent tendencies were kept . It was a terrible experience. Some patients were given jobs to do in the grounds and in the staff kitchens , so wherever you went they were there . I’m glad it’s gone .

      There was also a maternity unit at Lennoxcastle for high risk pregnancies. I was born there in addition to, as far as I'm aware, the famous songstress Lulu who grew up a few streets away from where I then lived at the edge of what is now the Tennents brewery.
