You can only appreciate just how big the yard is by drone. Couldn’t help noticing the amount of dereliction beside the yard. Wondered what that’s about. Great video. Will subscribe. Mick🇬🇧
That is Kudzu, a plant imported from Japan to control erosion. It worked well except it grew so fast it has caused devastation to other plants and trees and it is hard to control. The cold weather sends it dormant, but it will be green and growing again next spring!
The drone footage is excellent and the mike is great also. That said the constant roaming thru the yard are a like also. An empty centerbeam and boxcar trying to shove a long cut uphill something had to give.
This is my first time watching and I like what I see, using a drone makes a lot of difference you get a way better view. After seeing the great work your doing I've also subscribed to your channel.
I was wondering if one of those trailer cranes would be strong enough to pick up one end of a railcar and move it back onto the track seeing as how they are both roughly in the same area and it looks like it might be easy enough to get one over to the derailment .
Catching a train accident on video is extremely rare. 99% of train videos about accidents are the aftermath and cleanup. I hope I never see an accident as it happens unless no one is hurt. So I try to phrase my titles accurately. I hate click bait. Derailment implies past tense. All of my derailment videos are after it happens. I have only ever caught unexpected events as they happened twice. One was when a coupler broke and the train separated at track speed. And the other a case of extreme wheel slip.
I would guess the main issue here is they don’t actually use the yard as a hump anymore pushing a whole train over the hump puts all kinds of stress on the cars.
Is Norfolk Southern (NS) Railroad 🤪 the Common Denominator ? 🤪👎 They do many things Differently than Most Other Class I’s but Don’t Learn from Mistakes.👎
Train derailments happen all the time. Pushing cars through switches, pulling light weight cars through sharp curves. It's no more common than a flat tire.
Thanks for your feedback. To make you happy, from now on none of my videos will have titles in them. I have no control over how long the text stays on the screen. iMovie controls that. If you are unhappy you could call Tim Cook at Apple and complain to him. Or you could just tap the pause button perhaps? Or maybe read the title in the RUclips app?
Those damn centerbeams at it again!

Some really spectacular photography!

Thanks. It does put a whole new angle on it. I try to create at least one or two videos a week. Weather permitting of course. Glad you enjoy!
New subscriber, first time viewer. Outstanding work. Anxious to see more in the very near future.
Welcome!
Love the B&O myself. Grew up near the St Louis main line. Before they tore it up. Use the logo as my profile pic at work.
Where's the giant 0-5-0 switcher in the sky when you need it? The drone shots are cool, thanks much.
Great video. Just subscribed too
Thanks!
Nice video and drone footage new here keep them rolling 👍🏻🚂🔔😎✅
Same thing happened in my basement. Very sooty. Took three years to clean it up.
awesome video thx for the post.😊😊👍👍
Fine video, enjoyed every moment. Just subscribed.😎
Thanks!
good work. much appreciated
Just replace the switch already! This is the 3rd derailment in that same place within a year!
This is a different location next to the hump. The previous two derails where closer to the highway overpass.
I suppose Cranemasters is already on it. Excellent drone work!!
Yardmaster would be fun!
I agree Whatever happened to the drillment They have to get those 2 cars back on the track
nice job. thanks for posting it.
Nice drone videos.
I think they need to look at procedures again with all those derailments
maybe they have a sop on how to pull your finger outta yer ass to make a decision!!!!
Enjoyed the 3 way with the KCS

Probably not
I thought the same thing
They are rated for 100,000 lbs. it might for an empty but not loaded.
Just another normal day with Norfolk southern
6:34 past the UP engine, what is that green and slug black power unit with the hump in the middle?
There are several types of slugs at NS made from different locomotives.
Keep the derailments coming, they make great videos
They add some variety to every day train watching. What's going to happen next? You have to be out there to catch it.
DPU Alright!!!
At what video time is the derailment?
22:00

@@HotspotsSoutheast LMAO. You are so weak. 😂I would love to see you cry.
ChainsawN&W1218, busy in the yard, maybe it could have been a broken axle, bad rail or defective switch!
Train derailments are not that uncommon. Yards get a lot of traffic so it happens in yards more frequently. Nothing unusual.
Which is cheaper?
Trains are so much longer these days.

Seams like ns has a lot of derailments.
No more than anyone else. Derailments in yards are not uncommon. No more than getting a flat tire.
did you have to get permission to fly a camera over the yard?
Don’t need any
I'm sure the next one is going to be more serious

That's typical of the South, "didn't see that ? Hold my beer, I'll do it again!

If you put up words that need to be read, leave them up long enough to actually read them!!!!
