    I have a very large azelia shrub that I get intimidated to prune. With this helpful vid, I’m going to tackle it easy. Thanks.

    Thank you. We have an overgrown azalea patch in the back of our new property and I think this video will help a great deal.
    I also have something I think is a crape myrtle shrub (well, quite a number of them actually) and I'm afraid to prune them, because I can't find anything online about them. Can you help? The previous owner of our house told me that they would just sheer them, but I have a feeling they need some thinning out too.

      Crape Myryles should be pruned, not sheared, in the Jan-March time frame. If you send us an email (mastergardener@pwcgov.org) we can send you more detailed information on how to prune them.

    Can I prune my azaleas in late Feb/early March after all the freezing temps are gone? And what is pruned off can it be used as a starter plant?

    What should I do? We SHEARED our azaleas and they look so ratty now.. They were so overgrown. I think I need to still do some trimming.

      Could you send us pictures of them with info on when they were sheared to mastergardener@pwcgov.org?

    Do you cut off dead blooms?

    What is a "growing point"?

    • @vce-princewilliam4823
      @vce-princewilliam4823  4 года назад +1

      Points where new growth emerges - buds, nodes.

      Would be helpful to show what a growing point looks like.

      I was wondering the same thing. She shows the growth point at the 3:20 mark in the video
