- Lexmoto asked me if I would like to have a go at painting a tank for the Michigan 125cc, I currently have on load for review. It has been smartly designed as the bike is all black apart from the tank so you can really change the look of the bike by just painting the fuel tank. For that reason, lexmoto sell ready to paint primer gray tanks.
This is the first tank I have painted and even tho I only used rattle cans I think you might be quite impressed with the results!
Lexmoto supplied the tank and covered costs of painting the tank, It will be going back with the bike so where is goes next I do not know.

never seen someone do a water effect before, looks awesome, considering its out of a tin, well done lad. looks brilliant
If you're rattle canning a spray job, one excellent trick is to allow paint to dry then T-Cut polish between each coat (including between lacquer coats).. If you maintain a mirror finish, then even a rattle can job can look pretty much a mirror finish with no 'orange peel' effect, 😊😎

Spicy I would say that those marks in it were actually down to the cutting compound and the wool pad. They will be what is called marring or holograms. A finer polish and softer pad would help get rid of that.

Probable is set up and space. But it's nice to be able to paint something in a garage and still get a pretty good result. If the clear had no issues it would look pretty pro. 🙂
Looks very good, I just did some spray work on one of my bikes using synthetic clear coat and it looked dull even after loads of polishing. Went to a car paint supplier and got a tin of Final systems CS 60 2K HS clearcoat, was told it is a 2 pack with out having to activate it and is formulated for air drying. Wow the best stuff i have ever used such a deep shine. used 1200 and 2500 grit afterwards with same compound as you. What made a big difference was then to use Maguiars ultimate compound afterwards.
Love that water effect. Think ill need to get the paints out. Thanks for the inspiration.

Looks awesome, if you turn the petrol cab upside down and keep and air gap in the hole it won’t splash so bad 👍
Best practice is, do not ouch a primer tank with your oily hands. That is step one. Don't pull a Spicy just cut the tabs off lol. Keep your oily hands off the freshly sanded surface lol.

Awesome mate looks soo good ! Quick one on this new mitchigan efi as it is soo similar to the sinnis hoodlum can you fit the Toro exhaust for the sinnis to this bike. I prefer the colours of the mitchigan to the hoodlum and the cheaper price 😂 but the toro does make the hoodlum sound great

@@spicy110 hmm okay thanks, I didn't realise that. I'm looking into vinyl wrapping my fairings so that'll come in handy
I'm not 100% on the rules right now but in the past wrap didn't class a colour change. I have a feeling it has changed now, worth some research.
I wrapped my 1200 Trophy BUT left enough Original colour to count as Still Blue
if you do a full colour change its best to get it changed on the V5 or or will confuse Mr Plod
@@sjtheroadshenanigansofabri6631 The bike's registered as Red so as that colour was no longer present we made the change. There's an argument to suggest that we could class it as a Black bike regardless of tank colour but better to play safe. Besides a bit of waiting there's no cost beyond a stamp
