Hey Doke, cool video! I love it when you experiment. As a professional car painter, a small crashcourse on metallic paint: Metallic paint has "metallics" in them, basically small metal flakes (there are different sizes of metal flakes), that are oxidized in different colours. It's pretty much clearcoat mixed with metal flakes, that's why the coverage is tricky in one layer. Also that's why it pops off more with black paint underneath - look at your experiment with the cap and the metal thingy. It's the equivalent to white underground and acrylic paint. (also a black underground should work better with the glitter) The red paint probably has a few more pigments than the gold, that's why the coverage is better. Silver and gold tend to be more pure in metallics, while colours tend to have a few more pigments in them. Chrome has really small metallics, thats why the coverage goes up.
In the car and yacht industry metallic only works when a clear coat (2K) is applied at the and. Metallics are called base coats and turn mat after drying. Than the clear gloss coat is needed for several reasons. A. Protecting the paint and the painted object, cause a metallic paint doesn’t offer any protecting characteristics. B. letting the tiny alloy parts in the paint and the paint it self shine. C. To preserve the floating alloy particles in the paint, because they will start to corrode when they are exposed to the elements. So to make a metallic paint shine it needs a clear gloss, or a mat clear coat when the object needs to have a mat look obviously. A small theory lesson in industrial spray painting😊
Definitely could see the metallic effect on camera. The red had amazing color & had impressive coverage. As always, fantastic piece especially for an experiment. Thanks Doke!!
Finally catching up on Doke vids. Snow is SUCH a good boyyy!! 🐾 And you ain't half bad yourself, Doker! 😄 Thanks, as always, for sharing your art and journey with the world. We appreciate ya, bruv!
Seems to me, and I'm no expert by far, but if you had done your cutbacks with a normal red and then went over it with the metallic that it would have worked perfectly. The trick may be to base everything in a similar color and then cover with the metallic effect color as a top coat. Again, just a guess.
Gr8 cre8ive artwork as always!!! Ty for this video on ur experience w/ this particular metal spray oaints!!! Keep the videos & tips coming!!! Til next tyme...keep those cre8ive juices abrewing!!!
Thank you. I learned something today. :) Should you do another, use them to finish. Spray metallic, color for color, on normal paint. And how about blending on surfaces? I suppose we could try it ourselves. Good stuff! Bro.
I just got a new automatic skeleton watch and that gold would be perfect for the internal workings of the watch. Would be a pretty cool graffiti idea too. Something time related with a really nice complex watch or clock 👌👌
Omg I use to look at your channel until you had a ytb mental brakedown after graduating back in 2018 i think. Happy to see you havent stopped the videos!
Nice work, good excitement. I conclude that Montana spray paint is expanding to mainstream artists and home crafting. The marble, metallic, glitter, glow in the dark etc. A lot of effects to choose from... For graffiti, bombing I would not use the special effect cans. For details in murals I had and will use them. It is about the effects your craving for. So it is nice that I know I can fall back on Montana and trust on the quality of the product. So I know I use good stuff
Like the tiger piece, I want to see more big cats and a peacock 🦚/ tropical birds🐦/ toucans piece and a koi carp piece would be cool for some of the next videos. 😎👍
Probably should add a base color firsat, and use the metallic as an "effect' spray over the base color. like light brown/green/yellow as underpainting for the metallic gold. and any red color for the metallic red.
Curious how this looks at night once hit with flash or a flashlight. I feel that the metallic will look great! I mean kooks great regardless, great job
I've used the standard MNT 94 on projects, I'm looking to respray my cheap car project and wonder how it looks on metal, is it gloss, or does it need a clear lacquer?
The metallic effect spray paint is a colored chrome, so if you really want to get a metallic effect - you need to use it on an absorbing surface, to paint's basement was absorbed and pigment left shiny of course you won't get that effect on glossy surface
Ahoj Doke, mám celkom problém zohnať Montany na Slovensku. Máš nejaký overený shop (kamenný v rámci BA+ okolie, prípadne e-shop s normálnym poštovným), kde sa dajú zohnať? Ďakujem.
Hello Mr. Doke! I do have a question? Have you ever heard about clash paint cans?? If not please try to paint with it.. My prospective I really don't want to promote them, but it's covering the best for anything with 1 layer... Just. Check it out please! I didn't see the final result but it's looking good as usually... Thanks and big up to you!! Peace
would be nice to see the old copper "burner chrome" mixed with that gold either with the freezer trick or use astrofat on the metallic and bluesoft or a spiderlike and thats your fill. no holding back or same with the red but going like orange or something close but still cuts and gives the lsd vibes. and you make a char inside the fill no letters maybe reversed or upside down and tiny
To bad i liked the White tear drop in the eye because the tiger was slightly disepointed in the red metallic spray paint haha the tiger was talking to us keep on the good work okie dokie thumbs up
Best thing to do for fast coverage with metallics is ground colour, red is especially bad for coverage and a red base first will have it covering in one coat and fixing parts is easier for the same reason with your red solid colour first will cover much better. Metallics also cover better with a larger cap and actually spraying it less wet. the metallic particles are what does the coverage but when really wet they sink and cover worse and give dark lines and unwanted effects. Still cool art tho!
Imagine how much better shines/highlights would be if they had some kind of metallic white. Pieces would really look like they are reflecting light on the highlights
Painting idea: Paint a painting of a car using several different metallic spray paints and spray the surrounding area with regular spraypaint. This way, hopefully, you might be able to make it look like the car is actually metallic. Especially when the sun shines on it, it should give of that extra "shine". Would love to see that! Anyways, love your videos Doke! 🥰
dokey! i really like the transparency of this colours - just imagine you did fillin effects with light colours first - this might be a cool
effect!
Hey Doke, cool video! I love it when you experiment.

my favorite part is the dog making noise to doke and the fact that he left those clips in it male my day
Solid comparison 👌 PS: You've got the cutest dog!
Snow is the best !
Definitely could see the metallic effect on camera. The red had amazing color & had impressive coverage. As always, fantastic piece especially for an experiment. Thanks Doke!!

Amazing vid, I always love watching these!!
The texture from the plywood makes it look like foil, very cool!

Nice abstract font. I also really like the tiger and the graphic forms in the background. Good job!

Doke is the man. No one has the feel he put out
I just got a new automatic skeleton watch and that gold would be perfect for the internal workings of the watch. Would be a pretty cool graffiti idea too. Something time related with a really nice complex watch or clock 👌👌
Puppy wants some love!! Cool paint too lol
It probably works even better with a base coat of a similar or even brighter color match and for mistakes go back with the base and reapply the effect
Omg I use to look at your channel until you had a ytb mental brakedown after graduating back in 2018 i think. Happy to see you havent stopped the videos!
bro you really inspired me, ill try graffiti for the first time thanks to you. amazing work
nice...I painted few years before with blue metallic from motip:) effect was also dope...best regards
Nice work, good excitement.

Looks amazing as always, would love to see a mural of snow (doggy)
Like the tiger piece, I want to see more big cats and a peacock 🦚/ tropical birds🐦/ toucans piece and a koi carp piece would be cool for some of the next videos. 😎👍

im not a fan of gold spray but ill tell you this.
I loved this montana gold a lot on the wood!
I always "LIKE" your videos but this time, the LIKE goes to your doggo, haha.
Thats gotta be a Lion though yeah? Looks great Doke, as usual.
Looks really nice like all the other one you did man
Nice. The metallic pops out. You should really try to use it and combine whit your art.
Maybe as highlighting things.
Dude your dog is so cute!
Dope piece as usual Doke! I would use the metallic for my blocks or 3D .Still great for the try out.😎
That’s a great mural❗️
YO DOKE IS DOPE!!
Curious how this looks at night once hit with flash or a flashlight. I feel that the metallic will look great! I mean kooks great regardless, great job
You should do a pallet with white, red/yellow, grey, and black behind the metallics
Snow got scared lol beautiful dog
I've used the standard MNT 94 on projects, I'm looking to respray my cheap car project and wonder how it looks on metal, is it gloss, or does it need a clear lacquer?
you should do some experimenting with roth metal flake cans. that would be really cool
Ahoj, a čo tak nejaká maľba do garáže ? Robil si už niekedy niečo na taký motív ?
Time to get some popcorn and treats for this video 🤝
Metallic works best on smooth surfaces. Glitter should be used a clear coat so to speak. Always needs a base ;)
The metallic effect spray paint is a colored chrome, so if you really want to get a metallic effect - you need to use it on an absorbing surface, to paint's basement was absorbed and pigment left shiny
of course you won't get that effect on glossy surface
You have so a cute dog
If you had gone over the black lines with the normal red or yellow, then the metallic paint over the normal colour. Great video, thanks Doke.
Dude you gotta stop being so hard on yourself, this is awesome period
Fantastic work as usual!! When are you going to do a UK themed wall? X
Could you use it for details? Over an existi g layer (idk if you have it in silver fot example)
Ahoj Doke, mám celkom problém zohnať Montany na Slovensku. Máš nejaký overený shop (kamenný v rámci BA+ okolie, prípadne e-shop s normálnym poštovným), kde sa dajú zohnať? Ďakujem.

Why not put a base regular red/gold then metallic red/gold on the correction marks?
@Doke what Grafik tables you using when your drawing Digital??
when painting metallic GOLD you should start with a BROWN basecoat, the gold lays on better and you achieve a truer gold colour!
would be nice to see the old copper "burner chrome" mixed with that gold either with the freezer trick or use astrofat on the metallic and bluesoft or a spiderlike and thats your fill. no holding back or same with the red but going like orange or something close but still cuts and gives the lsd vibes. and you make a char inside the fill no letters maybe reversed or upside down and tiny
I love your dog man! lol
Doke, would you sell that canvas? From a big fan in New Zealand 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Funny doggo 😄
DOKE!! you have Metallic Red and Metallic Gold..i´m a bit disapointed that u don´t make Iron Man :´(

To bad i liked the White tear drop in the eye because the tiger was slightly disepointed in the red metallic spray paint haha the tiger was talking to us keep on the good work okie dokie thumbs up
Can we see a mix from matte, metallic and high gloss for eat color you use
