    Adjust your low limit screw to prevent chain from dropping in to spokes.

    • @mtbwithct8426
      @mtbwithct8426 3 года назад

      Also turn the clutch back on the derailleur, can tell you left it off after fishing the chain out of the spokes

    • @mtbwithct8426
      @mtbwithct8426 3 года назад

      @Dylan yes, yes you can, sram SX derailleur has a lock button

    • @mtbwithct8426
      @mtbwithct8426 3 года назад

      @Dylan that’s exactly what turning off the clutch allows you to do

    • @Gabesafish
      @Gabesafish 3 года назад +2

      @@mtbwithct8426 Dylan is correct. There is no way to turn the clutch on and off with SRAM. The button is to release tension for servicing. It cannot be ridden in that position.
      On a Shimano, there is a clutch on/off lever. You can ride the bike in either position.

    That's one thing I dont miss about my Roscoe 8 is that it sounds like a bucket of bolts clanging around over tech sections.

    Never happened on my Roscoe, but like the other comment said, it's just an easy derailleur adjustment with the limit screw, no worries.

    As much as I loved my Roscoe was presented with an opportunity to good to pass up. Was given a cash offer that was enough to buy a Santa Cruz chameleon. Didn’t think there’d be much of a difference but oh man is there. I’d ride a Roscoe all day long given the chance but man this chameleon is amazing

    I had the same issue with my roscoe 7 derailleur, and no matter how often the limit screw got adjusted it kept happening until I upgraded the derailleur

    • @rider65

      My backup bike is unfortunately a Roscoe 6. The Roscoe series are really nothing but pieces of shit in disguise. No better than the Marlin 8 or 7. The new Roscoe series has been upgraded with a better for and better geometry but forget these hunks of shite. Trek is extremely overrated unless you are spending big bucks on the mid-to-upper line. Like the one commenter stated, upgrading to a better derailleur drivetrain will help. Also upgrading from that stock fork that weighs a shit ton

    I would switch to Shimano if you can. SRAM clutches are not as strong as Shimano. On a full suspension bike it doesn’t make much difference, but on a a hardtail it does. Especially if you’re running tubes at high pressure.
    You could also try going tubeless which will allow you to run lower pressure and gain some bump/chatter compliance that way.

    Nice job! I ride a Roscoe 7, and for the price, I really like it. Although, when I ride a lot of techie downhill, I start fantasizing about an Ibis Ripley 😆😆 But, for me, it’s been a good starter bike.

  • @boydcrowder4436

    Roscoe tires / wheels will eat that chunk far better than the Marlin.

    • @rider65
      @rider65 3 года назад +1

      No kidding? 🤦‍♂️ considering that the Marlin is not really a mountain bike but a mtb style bike. One day of technical Trails will destroy the forks and then the wheels on anything--but an easy grandma rail-trail... Marlins are garbage unless you're going to ride on the street or the rail trails. I work at a trek dealer for the past four years and I can tell you what bikes come back broken the most

    You don't need full sus unless the trail is really rockey or you're bombing down steep trails! Roscoe is plenty capable for typical dirt trails. I prefer a hardtail with a better fork....

    A digital tire pressure gauge is a must for the plus size tires. I ran 14 psi front and 18 psi Reardon mine.

    • @rider65
      @rider65 3 года назад

      That's irrelevant tire pressure if you're not providing your weight and the type of trails you ride. Also a digital gauge is not a must as long as you have a calibrated analog gauge it is absolutely fine. Tire pressures will be based on Rider weight, tire size, (i.e. volume) and the type of terrain on the trail. Rocks, roots or relatively smooth.
      Forget the comment this guy makes about 18 14 PSI. You need to experiment with tire pressures and they will change depending on the terrain you are riding. As will your fork setting and spring pressure.
