That bike is capable of way more, add some jumps to that track and you are gonna have lots of fun, like that video you made of "sick downhill MTB single track". I love free flowing tracks with some jumps. I can't believe you still dont put a dropper to that marlin, there are lots of options. Nice vid man.
I thought the dropper was a gimmick until I got one, now i wouldn't want to be without one. XC can be pretty intense but it is also pretty rewarding. I keep looking at the Bikepacking trips some RUclipsrs take and they look so appealing. Keep riding
I ride rail trails (crushed gravel/coarse gravel/blacktop), street and local singletrack XC style with some rocks gardens and small jumps over logs. I plan on taking my 1x9 Marlin 7 bikepacking down the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O trail sometime in the next couple years. That Marlin 6 is way more capable than your old one and definitely more capable than my late model Marlin 7. I would love to try one someday. You should definitely go tubeless, run a lower psi and get a dropper for it. Those tires should be fine for that but it wouldn't hurt to try a 2.4" tire with better tread on the front.
Since the trails nearby are all XC style, I ride a lot of XCO (weekdays) and some longer epic rides on weekends. The elevation profile here range from 0 to 180ft, then climb and descent a lot to make a epic ride.
Nice trails, great views. I got my Marlin 7 little over three months ago, I've already got 700 miles on it, mostly road but some trails around our local reservoir. I love it and it handles trails great.
I've got a Marlin 7 and absolutely love it. Been a road biker for years and picked up mountain biking this year. It's been an easy bike to learn on and love the ride quality, only thing is a dropper post which is on my xmas list this year.
Thanks Matty for awesome review.. i had ordered Marlin 6 in red and black but getting this color which u r riding and i am so happy it looks great in video… taking delivery next week… thanks and keep posting videos
@Fortnite ios player it's great! I really like it. I have yet to take it on a hard trail ride, but what I have done has been fun. It's fast, and smooth. I did make a few changes, not that I had to only because I wanted to. I have one more thing to add, and that will be a dropper post, and that will be it. Happy riding to you!👍🏾
@Fortnite ios player A dropper post is to allow the seat to drop out of the way on trails with jumps so you can lower yourself (your backside) on the bike without the seat getting in the way. May not at all be needed for you or your style of riding. Just an equipment upgrade that may make for a better riding experience.
Xc’ing is my favorite to ride. That trail looks like so much fun! What tires are you thinking you’ll go with when you swap them out? Great video! Lookin forward to the next one!
Your videos are clearly demonstrating you do not need a $3500+ bike to get out and enjoy the outdoors! My old 29er hardtail is kind of what keeps me from buying a gravel bike. Would a gravel bike be lighter and possibly faster? Sure. But if the dirt road or trail gets ugly, the advantage goes to the hardtail.
Is marlin 6 less tiring to ride then roscoe 6 for commuting/trail rides? Please let me know having hard time choosing between marlin6 and roscoe 6 btw im not pro just average noob
Matty, I don't think its the 1x10 vs the 1x12. You only have a 46t in the rear vs most 1x12 having 50-52t rear. BUT the good news is there are 10spd cassettes with 50t gear. I run a couple of them on different bikes and they do the job. One of my bikes has a 1x12 but its still a 50t as the lowest gear that I use so i don't think its any better than the 1x10 with a 50t :)
Great video. I noticed that my Marlin 6 is pretty fast on downhill and I see that yours is too. What brand/model camera did you use to shoot this video? Where do you mount the camera? Do you use separate mic?
I'm pretty positive I'll be picking up a Marlin 6 before the end of the year. I've always been a skateboarder, but now that I just turned 40, I'm going to get into mountain biking & riding around the city. So you think it's a good beginner bike? It was between the Marlin 6 or a Marin Bobcat Trail 5. But I would have to order the Bobcat Trail, while my local bike shop carries the Marlin 6.
I got Marlin 6 couple weeks ago. I think It's a great starter MTN Bike. Of course Marlin 8 comes with 12 speed, but for me, the 10 speed on my Marlin 6 is fine for majority of the ride(road and easy trail). If you live where there are lots of hills, then go for Marlin 8. Otherwise, Marlin 6 should be fine.
You guys have the most beautiful bike trails in the world, everywhere you look is one incredible view after another!
It's nice to have a nice mellow ride every once in a while.
Get the timber bell. It's a life saver on the trails in letting people k ow your coming. I've avoided many a collision because of it
Very nice. Just love the enthusiasm you have. It's infectious. You show you can have fun and enjoy yourselves and not need a high end product.

Just grabbed a T-shirt from your store for my kiddo. Bikes over Cars! Awesome stuff

Listening to the teasers about your baseball story is like watching a new marvel movie trailer for me... Can't wait to finally hear it!
Greetings...always good to see another country, and the Trail/countryside looks beautiful. From Australia.

If you bring the Polygon out, you should head to the other side of that valley and ride Dakota Ridge, just be ready it's quite gnarly.
Thanks for your videos. I have the new Marlin 6 and gotten on any trails yet, but you make it look like fun and I can't wait!
How is ur marlin 6 ma man

@@54rdavisful thank you ! What is the advantage of dropper post ? Because if we don’t add it we can just lift it right?

Nice trail....I am getting a Marlin 6 for sure, just have to try out a L and a XL to find the best fit

Sick man! Would you ever take your roscoe on this trail ?
For sure!
Good morning from Cyprus .

Nice Trail and GLAD your back in the TREK family….. The Marlin Matty refers to as the “Blue & Black” Marlin is the 2022 Marlin 8… 🇺🇸
Can u pls do more marlin6 trail video I really wanna buy but it’s 100$ more far my budget
Matty - when you were there, did you try the Morrison Slide? I’m curious what you think about it
I didn’t. I will definitely keep that in mind for next time!
And yes the rattling is the internal routing. Im working on a way to stop the rattling.
Great video. I noticed that my Marlin 6 is pretty fast on downhill and I see that yours is too. What brand/model camera did you use to shoot this video? Where do you mount the camera? Do you use separate mic?
Thanks! I used a GoPro 8 black with the chesty mount. I didn’t use a separate mic. The mic is pretty good on it when there’s no wind.
Can you install/put an internal dropper post on Marlin 6?
Yes
@@MattyActive Thank you Matty
5:22 He was on the Marlin 8

It seems like you enjoy hardtail more then your full suspension?
I wouldn’t say that, its just easier to grab and go a lot of times.
You definitly need a dropper post dude.
Nice
Nice mtb 😀
What helmet are you wearing in this video?
Bontrager Rally Wavecel Helmet
@@MattyActive thanks for the reply my dude
Does nike sponsor you?
Haha I wish
Just buy a dropper!!! They aren't that expensive. And get a riser bar and wider tires while you're at it
how much could a dropper really helped here? seriously.
