The "long domino" has the grain running lengthways (which is weaker) as opposed to genuine dominos grain running at 90° to the joined edges... but you can do that too... Whilst some may say its a disadvantage that it can only do one thickness, the design is so simple that you could easily make a few of these for the different thicknesses you would normally use... A spiral up-cut router bit would reduce chip re-cut & clear the slots much more efficiently... I like it !! 🤗 From the Emerald Isle 😎👍☘🍺

Using 2 opposite bolt holes to secure 2 parallel fences, together with a cross-link at each fence end, it uses the parallelogram principle to ensure centering just like those simple center scribing tools do. Each rail swivels, maintaining parallel, and the distance between them adjusts with the swiveling.
LOL I am just thinking how much faster and less dust I can get the same job done with a small plough plane. It's great if you specifically need that specific groove in that specific type of edge. Otherwise, wouldn't it make sense to just reference off one edge?
I see that many people comment saying that each piece of wood has its own thickness, but, if you are goi g to join two pieces of wood together, they should be cut/planned to the same thickness anyways.

You can also make a second jig, with a single guide, to create a tongue in the other board that is to be joined, eliminating the need for a spline. Of course, a splining bit will do this without the need for this jig. Still, very nice job, even if it is only 1/2 of the solution.
Great idea! And I like the quality of construction; the guide boards being dadoed into router plate definitely help w stability.... BUT it also permanently determines the thickness of board you can router an edge dado into : / However, if instead, you just used approx 4in(10cm) pieces of L-shped metal angle iron, you could drill couple holes in the face that meets w bottom of router plate and attach w couple short screws. THEN you could change distance btwn L - brackets to fit any thickness workpiece ( you could even have one stationary and the other held w washers and nuts through oval holes so you could make small adjustments btwn multiple passes to increase width of edge dado; similar to moving fence on table saw to make wide kerf in multiple cuts!) Not trying to be YT know- it- all! Really loved your idea and was just trying to figure a way to make it easier and more adaptable) Take care!

I disagree. making a jig for only 1 operation is pointless . each board has unique thickness.
You can use plywood for the domino.
