    Been octopus obsessed since 1991. Used to record any tiny, minute long clip i could find in ocean documentaries on to a VHS especially dedicated to it (oh how I miss the 90s!) Since the internet I've obviously gotten to see a lot more than was available pre-internet. In 20 years of watching anything octopus, this is easily the best one I've seen. Comprehensive and beautiful. Love it! Thank you :)

    There is major flaw in the octopus. Their short lifespans don't allow them to build up knowledge and societies like we do. Humans wouldn't have been able to do what they have if they only lived five years, even if they developed more quickly.

    • @viviannichols3582

      They may have lived in a different environment but used their adaptability to survive in water.

    • @AllTimeTwo
      @AllTimeTwo  2 года назад +4

      Well if you think about it, why do we believe water is unique to Earth? We have already found traces of it on Mars, in the atmosphere of other planets and even on frozen water covered moons. It's likely that water is the origin for most life on planets and since water is prevalent on many planets, it's totally possible that's just how the octopus lived originally.

      @AllTimeTwo  2 года назад

      Actually if you look into it, researchers believe that the nautilus at some point left their shells and that's where the octopus comes from. It's complete speculation based on both having similar features. There is no genetic relation or fossil record connection found as of yet. It's a big gap currently. What confuses that evolutionary speculation is that a 330 million-year-old octopus was recently found fossilized in limestone. So they aren't some offshoot of the nautilus or mollusks. They have always been here.

    LOVE Octopuses... BUT did ya EVER stop to THINK that just MAYBE (since the "Space Station" REALLY is NOT in "space") that "sea plankton" was MAYBE thrown "UP" there, via water spigots, whirlwinds or just plain ole WIND?!? That it landed ON the "Station" and simply is collected there, as it scoops-up more and more, with each second?!?
    MUCH like the "Ballooning Spiders" that almost reach Ionic level distances, JUST by electromagnetism AND the wind...
    IDK... y'all keep pushing this "Extraterrestrial" agenda (which in CASE ya didn't know; "Extraterrestrial" simply means: "Extra" "Earth" or "Extra" "Land"...) It does NOT mean "From Outer Space", that's for sure. Just break it down and check your etymology...
    These cats TRULY believe that not ONLY did ALL of those miraculous things happened, that ALLOW the octopus to be as BRILLIANT as it is, with it's multi-physical computers (brains), one in EACH tentacle... and not only that, but TWO had to have just ~POOF!~ happened at the SAME time. One of EACH of the TWO genders. One male, one female... you know!?!... so that they could REPRODUCE!!!
    Also... with ALL of the species on THIS "planet" ("Realm"...) WHY are "we" NOT seeing band-NEW ones popping-up all OVER the place?!? WHY have we not witnesses gorillas or freaking MONKEYS, period, not walking upright, out of the jungle??? WHY have no "new" fishies come OUT of the sea, ocean and/or lakes (water) and taken-up residence on LAND?!? Why have we NOT seen variations of ourselves NOT come out of the forest? New animals? Sure! There are MICRO-evolutionary examples yet NOTHING on the MACRO-LEVEL!!!???!!! WHY is that? Darwin was a total and MAXIMUM SHILL, that is why...! Ooops! Answered my own question there. Apologies! That was meant for YOU to answer... anyway...
    This "NARRATIVE" is getting old, frail, WEAK and see-through. It is BROKEN and it's truly up to "us" to FIX it... Armchair octopus enthusiasts!!! Time to CHIME-IN on this one... but ONLY if you are NOT regurgitating something y'all have read in a textbook and/or WATCHED on National Geographic Channel... or "History (His Story...!!) Channel" or ANYthing out of the LAMEstrea... errr... I mean MAINstream sources. Yet I digress... ...
    This was a good "mainstream" narrative and there IS a lot of GREAT camera footage here... BUT...!!!
    Wold LOVE to hear from actual PEOPLE who have studied these magnificent creatures, on their OWN!!! What have THEY (you) discovered and/or witnessed these fabulous "creatures" do that was NOT covered here... I'm more than sure that there HAS to be more than many, as this was just a SMALL, little "blurb" on the topic!?!
    Cheers!!

    You left out some very important details in order to push your viewpoint. Especially on plankton and their finding on the outside of the spacestation and going so far as to ask which was first space or the ocean when you already know the answer if you found that article. Very misleading. The same with octopus RNA and their "ability" to modify it. Omission of FACTS that dont' support your viewpoint especially when you almost certainly were exposed to the truth is functionally the same as making up facts to support your viewpoint. There was a lot of half truths, omitted facts, and misleading declarations in this one sir. I understand sensationalism sells, but it is also the root cause of so many of societies problems. Kinda think you might have pushed the envelope too far on this one.😞

      I very much disagree with you and your assertion that I left out details to push my viewpoint. Russian scientists found traces of sea plankton alive and well on the outside of Russia's ISS segment. In the article it said that NASA had not confirmed their findings, which is obvious because it wasn't discovered by NASA. These facts do not change the details I talked about in this video. It's almost like competing space agencies have different goals and plans. You can choose to believe them or not, but to pretend that the claims weren't made and that a debate isn't being had is disingenuous on your part. Sea plankton found in space alive and thriving could very well beg the question of "sea plankton or space plankton".
      What facts did I omit from my segment regarding the octopus being able to change 60% of it's RNA? You keep making claims of omissions, pushing a viewpoint, being misleading and sensationalism but you didn't rebuke them at all. What is your issues with what I said? What are the omissions? What is the viewpoint I'm pushing? My opinion? What am I being misleading on and what am I sensationalizing? Anyone can make claims like you did with your comment but you didn't call out anything, nor did you counter any of my claims. What you posted was the long form equivalent of something commenting "wrong!".
