In the past men's hardships weren't really expressed especially to the family due to the economics. If your lady never worked and just took care of the kids why would you even talk to her about work?
We both working now so a lot of men took that better interpersonal relationship talk from women seriously. But with that comes more responsibility on both ends. It also comes with more compromise as well. Both sides are struggling to adjust to this new compromise especially women.
At the end of the day you either want traditional with a potential lesser lifestyle or you adapt to splitting everything; financial and emotional(good or bad).

The facts is that in the modern society especially the African American community!!! We have a expectation and reality divide driven by social media , the system, and the generational trauma we as a people have.
