Yes, it is quite difficult to make new friends as an older person in a different region of the same country. The difficulty increases considerably when you move overseas. Friends you have separated from will change, and so will you, perhaps in opposite directions! Then you will ask yourself: which country is "home", and which one of you is living "abroad"?
