Wish they’d offer this with an aluminum block
I'm sure the aftermarket is working on this
Only a matter of time.
Its a process just wait we will get one.
The 6.8 liter version of this engine is destined for the mustang so who knows it might show up in aluminum
@@michaelgoodson1797 really? A pushrod v8 mustang? Hm I’m not exactly sold. The Godzilla is a much bigger bore spacing, don’t even know if it would fit in the mustang chassis. Unless ofcourse we are talking about another “mustang” suv
This motor in a foxbody would be a low ten second performer that could drive anywhere.
I just happened to dig out my Ford Motorsport tag and Ford Motorsport license tag frame. I had looked at Ford Racing catalog and saw the Ford Motorsport accessories were discontinued. Glad to hear it coming back.
Lifelong Mopar guy here- Megazilla is a beauty of an engine!
This bad boy with a higher redline and a couple points of compression on E85 and I can see 700HP.
You’d be seeing 800-900 with that.
I still prefer the Coyote platform but it's awesome to have a modern large displacement V8 with relatively conservative footprint option out there.
Would love to have that 615 7.3 in my '66 N series crewcab with a 10R140 then keep the Eaton 2spd diff
That's impressive power out of a N/A motor!!
7.3L? I'm not impressed.
@@HanginInSFme either
Would Love to drop this in my ‘04 F150 STX.
I wish they offered this in other options so I can wish I could afford it at any level.
And now the Megazilla is more friendly for a Holley EFI the last hurdle it still the oil pump control since VcT is not an issue
Lock it out?
2 Turbos are saying yes to this!
Notice how he said “7.3 variant” I’d bet my bottom dollar there will be a 6.8 variant that’s more horsepower purpose built than torque!
Thanks for the informative video! Did he mention anything on having different lifters as the stockers have given people issues
the 7.3 is neat and all, but you already have a way more viable option called the ford 460 with way more support in the aftermarket. and actually dimensions are smaller than the 7.3. Not to mention if you want a high horsepower engine just use a coyote based swap or stick with a built SbF/Ls
A BBF is physically larger and heavier than a 7.3L.
@@SVTPerformance I'm sorry but your information is incorrect. The only dimension in favor of the 7.3 is the width and only by a meager .3 of an inch, unless you wish to count the coil packs then it's back to being larger in width as well. Aside from being taller and longer than a 460 bbf the weight difference with iron heads is in favor of the 7.3 by around 100#, but swap out to aluminum heads as similar to the 7.3 and we're actually slightly lower in weight or even depending on the head option.
Also never said it had to be a bbf 460, easily a Ford Windsor 351 busted out to 460 cheaper smaller way more support way more options. The Ford 7.3 "Godzilla" or even the near 6.8 is neat but Ford dropped the ball about 10 years late on old useless tech. You want big cubic cib engines get old or ls, want efficiency get dohc.
Nice!!!
I want this for my gen 1 Raptor :D
I LOVE EVERYTHING!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
GMC boys are going to hang on
Very cool
Nice.
Awesome! How about a 6 or 10 speed auto conversion behind a 302 or 351w for a early mustang or fairlane
@WorldRenownedCFE 🎤 that is the same 10-speed Ford uses - they codeveloped the 10-speed autotragic.
@WorldRenownedCFE 🎤 that GM makes? - it was joint Ford/ GM project - same trans.
You can do that already. I had a 6R80 behind my 351w.
Also you cannot make this engine work with the Mustang 10R80 Transmission, if you want a 10 speed you have to use the truck variant 10 speed which absolutely blows
So if the rumors are true and this goes into the next gt500, it should be around 850ish hp boosted.
That won’t happen. The predator motor is far lighter and already engineered for its application
@@goldysgarage189yeah I dont even know why some people insist in going back to pushrod when the Coyote has proven over and over that DOHC is the way to go.
The Predator is gone. If this does go into the GT500, it will probably be aluminum block and OHC.
Im hoping some starts making a timing cover to run a distributor
Pretty sure I saw one at the show. Might be in one of the other vids.
Where the heck is the Megazilla crate engine? Was suppose to be out months ago!
Ford needs to produce a 7.3 l version of the 6.2 sohc engine it's very possible considering they use the same bore spacing polish and Port the heads use bigger camshafts maybe even produce some for valve heads for it
A lot of Ford engineers do not like the 6.2 heads.
They get to 400cfm with porting and more low lift flow under .400" than large valve racing pushrod heads.
The 6.2 is pretty much dead and its bulky compared to godzilla
@@SVTPerformance can you shed a bit of light on this one? It has dual plugs, dual quench zones, the valve orientation is damn near opposing though more on the twisted side, it has a rail rocker setup, good head flow (I think they flow the same as the Godzilla but I'm not entirely sure), and benefits from OHC. It's also a proven setup. I really feel like if Darton or LA sleeve made some wet sleeves for the 6.2 and we had Callies, Molnar or even Manley start making some cranks for us, it would've boomed. 6.2's are literally everywhere now, they have big displacement and big power potential but no one wanted to give them the chance. Now what we have is this 7.3 which I don't dislike but in comparison to something like the L8T or a BGE 6.4 Hemi? I don't see the 7.3 having a chance even with all of the aftermarket support.
Not bad.
Whats the cost of one of these things gonna be? 20K?
Man could you picture this in a ac cobra kit car.
YESSSSS
12:46 😅
Did they happen to mention transmission options for the 7.3L control packs? I'm hoping there will be other options besides the 10 speed. 6R80 and 4R100 ideally.
10 speeds are the only way to fly!!!
@@jeffmiller3150 Sure.. If you have unlimited funds. The Godzilla has the same bell housing pattern as the mod engines that have been around for 30+ years. If you could bolt that engine to your existing drive train, that would save a man a ton of money and time. Plus, with the outstanding torque curve of that engine, makes it a perfect candidate for less gears. Just a thought. It can still be done, but you would need a stand alone controller. It would just be nicer and cleaner if they made a control pack with more options.
Ask that question over on SVTP and I can give you a more detailed answer.
Some dude on utube put 1 of this in a crown vic n guess what it bolted up to the 4w7or or and with electronic control shares the same bell housing bolt pattern as the mod n old sb bolt pattern so that 4r n 6r bolt too it
@@michaelgoodson1797 Yup. Same bell pattern as all the mod motors.
We need a hot rod with one of these in it...
What happened to the Werewolf Coyote Block platform?
Coming soon.
exactly what Im looking for. NA power. Will this fit in a Superformance or back Draft Cobra ???
Wish it came with forged pistons. Comes with cast 😢
I have yet to see one installed anywhere.
09/08/24 Update: Still have never seen one anywhere installed or running.
How’s it making that power with only 10.5:1compression ratio @ 5,750
I would be nice to know if there would be a 4x4 10 speed auto with Megazilla package.
PLEASE make clear covers for FE motors. Thanks Ford
All that for 615
Ive searched FP parts.. they dont seem to know nothing... Whats the Megazilla cost???
Would rather have a 534 Super Duty
Most have no clue what that engine even is.
Still no good automatic transmission options for these that fit in cars and work with the Ford controller, and still no out of the box Holley efi support
Run a 6r80 and a quick 6 controller that's what I'm funning
When is this Avalible
Is megazilla and the control pack available yet?
THAT ENGINE IS IMPRESSIVE, AND SERIOUSLY SO FOR TODAY. BUT THE 427 SOHC FROM THE EARLY 60'S IS MY FAVORITE AT ABOUT 680 HP. .
Still no easy way to swap this engine in much of anything, especially a Fox. This engine didn't get near the aftermarket support I expected. Looks nice sitting there,,, not installed in anything.
Any idea what the deck height and head width of the 7.3 Godzilla? Wondering if it would fit between the towers of a 65-66 mustang
It'll fit.
Godzilla is 27 x 25 x 32 (L x W x H with truck manifold and truck oil pan) about the size of a tall deck Windsor with Yates Heads (per Brian Wolfe) or 351 Cleveland (29 x 26 x 29).
The oil pan is the pain in the arse part but Indy Power Products has a nice (albeit expensive billet solution that includes a timing chain cover) plus a few others, it looks like all the other pan solutions are around a grand.
9.65 deck 4.53 bore space
It will not. I tried on a 70.
7.3 instantly got excited thinking it was diesel.
lol right
Great, Ford says it's here! PRI, Dec, 2022.11/19/23, it's nowhere to be found. All that's listed on the Ford Performance Parts site is the 430HP 7.3L. Anybody actually seen one for sale or bought one? Another urban myth, I guess.
And this is California CARB exempt?
Taking bets on what century old tech they managed to screw up.
Are the heads on these just not great? These things seem nowhere near an LS7 at any build level while being physically larger/heavier. I'm guessing they're stronger for boost (LS7 isn't amazing in that regard), but I don't see why one would swap one of these (NA) into a car unless they just wanted an all-Ford build (which I totally respect).
What are you basing your statements on? You dont have specs on the heads.
Not worth 20k estimated price
I wonder if the manifold will swap with coyote
Funny how ford bashed pushrods and said they were archaic, but to get real power to match GM and mopar, they silently reintroduced this
Lol coyotes don't make power?
@@tylergolden8663 I agree it’s sad.
What wes the numbers on that 289? Thanks
It wasn't a 289.
@@SVTPerformance I must have had the volume off! LoL
Love your content!
Pistons weak- try ring gap?
We covered the issue in the vid. It's not ring gap.
@@SVTPerformance ya I heard what was said. Answer the question though. Did they try .007 per inch ring gap? How far did it go? These factory pistons are just trash because of emissions? The lt5 pistons are modern pistons people put port injection and pour boost on them regular quad numbers… so are the Chevy pistons just that much better from the factory like they put more top ring land??? Btw I raced a ford much long than a ls but I don’t really have any loyalty to one or the other or any for that matter
i want a Ford fairlane 67 , and a 7.3 under the hood . Screw a coyote
Molla pistons huh
Big cube copy of an LS motor. Why did Ford go back to pushrods ?
A pushrod🤣😆 come on lol The coyote has proven over and over that DOHC is the way to go. No need to swap cams and heads just boost it and let it eat.
EGGZACTLY, maybe they'll offer a DOHC version someday!
Coyote is great but not for everyone. Some guys don't want to cut up the factory style front end to install a Coyote which is physically bigger. Bottom end torque and only having to buy one camshaft is nice, and no need to replace these heads either just port these.
This thing with a higher redline, E85 and a couple points of compression is going to make 700HP N/A. Some people dont want to deal with having a blower.
Stop with the coyote fanboy crap it gets so old seeing that. This is a totally different engine. It makes a ton of power and torque without even revving past 6k rpm. Totally different worlds. There is more to street engines than peak rwhp. And in a larger vehicle this makes alot more sense because it makes FAR more torque at any given power level at a far lower rpm than a coyote could ever dream of making. The coyote is really good but it isn't the answer for every single build out there. Why do coyote guys feels so threatened by the godzilla? I think it's great having more Ford options that are different more the better. Stop being the toxic part of the car community that people are getting tired of dealing with.
This is better than the coyote when it comes to torque.
Still, 90 percent of Mustang owners will put an LS engine in their mustangs .
What's that tell you lol lol
They are cheaper, easier to swap, and plenty of aftermarket parts. This Megazilla is probably 15k plus controller and supporting hardware you’re looking at maybe 20k. With that money you can have a s/c coyote making 1000hp
@@Jimmyxsx Exactly well said at lest you get it unlike some .
For a 16 year old kid getting into racing LS is the way to go
True, you can't beat the value of a junkyard 5.3 LS.
90% will put in an LS?
Try again....
90% of people with NO money to build a Mustang...yes.
Those of us who aren't Po' ass broke, can put a nice 8.2" deck 363 SBF in our Mustangs.
Damn... still not a GM....
GM finally wised up with making over six-hundred hp from a non-boosted Vett motor by finally going DOHC, which Ford has been using for more than 25 years. I can't wait to see how Hennesey throws some boost at this engine!
And that's a good thing!!!
@@jeffmiller3150 a very good thing. So sick of ls this ls that. The coyote guys are just as bad to be honest and I bleed blue.
gm new 6.6l ftw
@@midnight347 what i hate about ls swaps is people sticking them in fords ugh
Hey let's try to copy the LS engine lol still Ford garbage.
@Key's Auto Repair
Hey, go get some advice from your buddy Giuliani, LOL!
Yep and GM is now copying the Coyote.
@@michaelbower2117
GM copying goes back to the Mustang. Except GM called it Camaro. Now GM copies the Mustang Mach-E all electric SUV with a Camaro all electric SUV to be released in the near future. LOL!
Plus GM copied ford with the LS! They just made a improved version of a 351w Ford let the 351w die for overhead cams
How much $?
I wish Ford would offer a new 351W 4VBoss headed crate eng
