Just a heads up but when you were talking about lobe separation you were looking at lobes for 2 different cylinders instead of lobe separation for the same cylinder. In this engine, for example, the 1st lobe and the 3rd lobe go to cylinder number one and the 2nd lobe and the 4th lobe go to the next cylinder, on so on. No 2 lobes side by side will go to the same cylinder on an in block cam V engine. 15:34

Just some general rambling on my part here...
I can imagine how strong this would be with appropriately flowing intake, throttle body, cam, heads, headers and exhaust, coupled with a supercharger. With the cam specced with the supercharger in mind, I can imagine LOTS of power out of this thing. The key, I'm thinking, is making sure the intake is sized appropriately to provide the supercharger enough air, and the exhaust is appropriately sized to ensure little to no backpressure. However, oversizing some of these components could lead to loss of torque (like if the headers have too large a primary diameter, lower velocity will reduce the cylinder scavenging effect, and so forth).
It's good to see someone working on development for the internals for this engine; it'll be interesting to see what cam/head combos become available.

Why anyone would chose this over a 6.7L for performance is beyond me. A stock 6.7L with a basic improved level 1 tune will put down a ton more power than this. A full tune on stock block will put down near 650whp and 1200tq, blowing the doors off this build for cheaper and less work.
Now, if you want to take this motor and throw it in another platform entirely, then boost it or whatever, that's great. I'm sure it's the new "LS swap" everyone's been craving. However, using this in the F250 for "performance" reasons is like modding a V6 Mustang/Camaro. lol
I do appreciate seeing this video and what the 7.3L has going for it. Thanks for the insight.👍

There's no way that 7.3 can compete with that. Not to mention 6.7 diesels running around with almost a million miles now. Not going to happen in a gasser. But, by all means, explain the issues you speak of.

50hp for heads and cam in a 7.3L - agreed - that is terrible. I dont know Ford tech, but you can easily get 80-100hp on an LS motor with a H/C swap.

You guys remember early days of actual LS1s? The aluminium block 5.7s and tuning with LS1 Edit? Doubtful as it was 25 years ago nearly, but it was comedy. I remember 375rwhp was massive. How about the sweet piston slap and oil consumption. Yah, had em new. Aftermarket catches up. Amazing platform.
The trans is HUGE in this truck, the 6R140 planet set is easily the size of a 4L60E input drum...and this has the 10 speed!
Put your H/C/I 6.0 behind an Allison. See what it lays out. It too will be sad.

    Question on the 7.3L Godzilla.
My truck is in the Ford shop after a problem with starting and cam shaft codes plus a few more codes.
They say that the Camshaft Phaser is bad. The Camshaft positioning module was replaced and didn't resolve the issue.
Can you point out in your great video where that phaser is located?
    Thank you

@@PalmBeachDyno Not knocking your project or your abilities - sorry if I came across that way. It's great that people are developing this package. And while I agree that a 7000lb truck can't/shouldn't shift like a 3000lb sports car, I was hearing a fair amount of slippage - I think even a flare-shift once. Due to the nature of the vehicle, you don't have the luxury of a softer converter to be able to protect the trans from shock loads, while bringing the apply pressures up to help the shifts. I think we agree that the trans will last longer if (when) you can control the shift feel and slippage.
