Lake Powell Striper Fishing - The Chains Area

- In this video I will take you into Glen Canyon National Recreation area, down to the Chains Area, on Lake Powell, to catch a ton of really dumb Striped Bass. I will share some tips, tricks and techniques that will help you catch fish when you come and try your luck. The Chains area is located just two miles from Page Arizona and has very easy access to the shoreline of the mighty Lake Powell and also provides nice hiking and swimming, without having to pay for the park pass. It is a day use only area - 8am - Dark

Just got on your channel and can't stop watching. I have loved fishing lake powell, but have been limited to Wahweap because I only have a kayak so this video has given me some other options as a learn this great lake. Thanks for the content and you ever need a fishing buddy let me know. Great work

Loved it and glad your back! My favorite part of the video, however, is pointing out the stupidity among us. I spend the bulk of my time on Flaming Gorge, and occasionally Lake Powell. I can tell you the stupidity is wide spread across the Colorado River Basin. I contribute it largely to the city they are traveling from. Will be looking forward to the next one!

Thanks man! It was at the end of the road. You can no longer reach the water however because the water is so low and it is cliffed out.

Have you ever used carp meat for bait? Or chum? We use it all the time up north for Cat fish and Wipers. Never tried it at Powell though....
They sell anchovies at the store for five bucks a bag. I'm sure carp meat would work fine but it is an unnecessary endeavor.

I'm down to go fishing when you are. Just let me know. I have a great fishing boat. Again I'll be there next week and staying for a couple/three weeks. We would have been there this week, but it was dang hot. Not normal.

What type/ size hook do you like to use?

Hey, hey Tyler. This is probably not what you want to hear but I think fishing line is the most over rated piece of tackle in your box. I have always used the cheap Eagle Claw or equivalent Mono and I have never once had issues with it. I have tried the $20 fancy fluro before and have had multiple brands repeatedly snap at the reel spool. As far as hook size, I use a #1. And once again, I buy the cheapest bulk box of them I can find.

Walmart fall-apart but seriously, if Walmart doesn't carry it then I don't need it.
I run Walmart crap when I can but sometimes it's worth it to drop the coin on a bit better quality.
