- The festival of colours, Holi, has it's origins in Vrindavan, India. Lord Krishna celebrates the arrival of the Spring season in his hometown Vrindavan by throwing different coloured powders and coloured waters on Radha and the young ladies of Vrindavan. To this day, the most famous Holi celebrations in the world are in Vrindavan. Many songs are sung during this festival about how Lord Krishna would tease everyone and play Holi.
In this traditional Vrindavan Holi song, Radha pleads Krishna not to throw colour and water on her however she is secretly enjoying celebrating Holi with Krishna and all the attention which Krishna is giving her. Ultimately Radha says to Krishna that he has applied colours on her in a way in which they do not even come off, indirectly meaning that Radha has been left mesmerised by Lord Krishna in every way possible forever. Even the way Radha dresses herself is all connected to Krishna. Finally, Radha invites Krishna to her hometown, Barsana to play Holi with her there.
