  • Lake Heviz in Hungary is the largest swimmable thermal lake in the world, second only to Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand, which is too hot for swimming.
The water flow in Heviz Lake is so strong that the water in the lake is completely replenished every 72 hours (410 litres per second) Its minimum depth is 2 meters, reaching a maximum depth of 38 meters, exactly at the point where the hot thermal water comes out to the surface.
the temperature on the surface of Lake Heviz depends on the time of year and the weather, on the coldest days it’s about 24°C and in the summer months it can reach 38°C
Today we show you around and tell you all you need to know about visiting Heviz Hungary.

In the 1930s, major companies were searching for oil in Hungary. They didn't find much oil, but at a depth of 400 meters, no matter where you drill, thermal water always gushes out. The temperature is usually between 40-60°C. Because of this, many villages have their own thermal baths. There is approximately one every 15-20 kilometers. Until the 1990s, thermal water was also used for heating greenhouses, but for example, the hot water in Szeged and the heating of certain parts of the city are provided by thermal water.

If I understood correctly, you paid in cash.
Bank cards are generally accepted in Hungary.
The change will obviously depend on the bank exchange rate, but I don't know about fraud.
There are many thermal baths in the area, but all of them receive their water from drilled wells. In other words, none of them are of natural origin.
