I love how when Samus first enters the boss room she’s cautiously looking around, but when she realizes it’s just Kraid she relaxes and casually pops a charge shot in his mouth. It just shows how experienced Samus is as a character, especially against recurring enemies like Kraid.

The pure eye candy animation in this game alone is 10/10. They went HARD on bringing Samus to life and giving her personality, like she's never felt so real and immersive in a Metroid game, not even the Primes.

@@Narifamen err being unga banga at fighting games is not the way to go, it happens to me a lot too, you really have to use your brain and have great dexterity, the thing with fighting games is that you train your brain to think and react in a fraction of second and you try to mitigate the surprise factor, the more focused you teach your brain to be the less chances you have of being surprised and freezing up and be unable to react.
if you look closely, he doesn't mash buttons he's timing each press, to the average person it feels like he's just going with it, in reality, every move is calculated and placed and decided within that fraction of a second and what usually happens is when you try to play other games you'll try to play them like a fighting game, and it's very easy to do that in Metroid Dread due to how fluid and quick Samus zips around.
But in contrast you also have those moments in the game when you have to stop and think, look at the surroundings but doing that kills your pace so you try to adapt that fast thinking and shooting everything and the game also allows you and encourages you to do that but you try to plow your way through, trying to always stay on the move otherwise if you stop you'll just fall asleep. You'll always end up overlooking shit and missing things.
Took me ages to train my brain to not play every game like a fighting game hahahaha, what i do is i put my brain into fighting game mode when i'm in combat and turn it off when i'm exploring.

You don't need to know why the Chozo dipped from the Planet or that Space Pirates were copying your gear (and broke their backs attempting to copy the Morph Ball), but you do need to know where the SA-X came from and what the GF were doing on the BSL.

Space frigate orpheon send out the distress signal because their own experiments got loose. Their experiments using Phazon.
You find that they found the impact crater where the meteor containing Phazon hit the planet, and began conducting all kinds of experiments using it.
And one of those experiments was the titular Metroid Prime, along with Phazon enhanced super pirates.
Upon defeat of prime, it absorbs your phazon suit to form Dark Samus, which is more important for future Prime games and I suspect will play a part in Prime 4.
Though I would say that the lore bits explaining that they were trying to copy your gear very much alludes to this, as Prime absorbs THEIR gear, showing not only it's capability, but creating opportunity to already encounter tech similar to Samus Power Suit beforehand.
It isn't deep, but it's just as prominent and important as the origin of SA-X and the Metroid experiments on the BSL.
Fusion would still work if you cut out the text explaining what was happening, just as well as Prime does if you skip reading anything.
But none of that matters because nothing Adam says in Dread says is deep as any of that.
the text dump at the start of the game explains what you need to know, followed by Quiet Robe's conversation.
      ***Spoilers***
Do you need Adam to explain that the X were sealed in Elun? Hell no numerous things you witness yourself tell you that.
But of course he's not telling you anything important he's not Adam.
They make a point in having him call Samus "lady" multiple times at the start of the game and then saying that signal was being lost as you went down.
Because as you find at the end, the whole time you've been talking to Raven's Beak posing as Adam, who was only pressing you forward to try to awaken your Metroid DNA, something he clearly realized was a possibility in his first fight against you when he kicks your ass.
if all he wanted was the DNA itself he could have taken it then.
he wanted an ultimate warrior and he wanted to convince you you need to use your power to enforce control over the galaxy.
but even skipping all of the cutscenes the game works.
It works like super metroid works, where you infer most of what is going on just by looking at the environment.
Super didn't have to explain that the space pirates were trying to clone the Metroid Ridley stole from you.
You find that out by encountering mochtroids, and later cloned Metroids.

People will shit on Other M, but it's clear to me that Mercury Steam based their animation of Samus off her animations in that game. Which is fair since I feel Samus actually acts pretty badass in that game during the moments she's not cowering in fear of Ridley.
