One of my favorites by Sousa. Sometimes I forget that the USMC Drum & Bugle Corps plays the trio section in G Major; I usually hear it in F Major. Either way, it works.
I really want to play the tuba part just for fun since my school is one of the MCJROTC programs across the country. Are there any sheets for this arrangement?
Sorta late but if you go to the Marine Corps DBC website they have publicly published all of John Philip Sousa’s arrangements as to it being a public document. This means you could find your part on there
At 2:02 there is a different combination of instruments giving a different sound from what is normally heard. It that a special arraignment or a difference in the perspective in which it is recorded. There are heavier brass instruments heard in this version. Just curious.
I marched in drum corps in late sixties, dad too and we seen your corps at a contest I was in. I'm 65 an I will never forget that performance. Awesome powerful and clean. Great job sir.👏👏👏🍻
@@bigfloppa5731 I probably wouldn't think "has to." It is certainly a quality, signature piece. Written at the Washington, D.C., barracks by "The March King," himself, also a Marine. I'd guess his marches are played happily for those reasons and because all of his music is simply outstanding.
@@garrettchurchey do you know what sticks the snare line uses for regular marching purposes? Also you guys on bass blow my mind, sounds like a MIDI file, so clean.
@@flarfatron2190Thanks! The snares use Promark DC-50’s for regular playing, and normally Innovative Percussion PR-2’s on the rope drums, but looks like they used the DC-50’s on them for this video.
