    Thanks for the info. I have never replaced injectors on this model. My girlfriends car just threw a cylinder 6 injector code. So I'm replacing the plugs and injectors.

    Thanks for the kind remarks. Typically a dealership tech isn't as good at diagnosing engine internal problems because they don't rebuild there. They just do motor swaps and have a separate proprietary builder regionally.

    Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm sure you saved me over $250. Took it slow and steady. In 2 hours the car was back on the road. You rock!

    The throttle in my pacifica stuck too. I just cleaned around the butterfly in the throttle body, with a can of throttle body cleaner, ( under $10) totally fixed it. We had gone over all the cable points where it could be hanging up and it didn't do anything.

  • @briansmobile1
    @briansmobile1  12 лет назад

    @MrGancali Your HVAC "bucket" drain that goes through the firewall to drain is blocked with leaves and dirt. As for a sticking pedal- you'll have to check your throttle butterfly for contaminants and cable routing/condition.

    @windtalkerxx The coolant in it doesn't need a ton of maintainance for the first 100K miles. You top it off at the cap on the drivers side half way back. (silver cap that says 16lbs or the like) You can test the coolant condition with a turkey baster type bulb syringe that test for "specific gravity" Basically if all the little colored balls still float then you're good.

    Awesome video. Very nice how you go through without taking 15 minutes to explain each bolt. If a viewer doesn't know that much, they wouldn't be watching a video like this. Your whole vid takes less than 5 minutes and all the info is there. Great job.

    Good demonstration. Anyone who works on cars enough especially a Chrysler can fully understand being irritable. This helps our Pacifica recently overheated and won't start. Shop triple AAA took to for free estimate since being a + member claims they did a compression test and we need entire new motor. From Your demonstration it is obvious they did not remove any of the parts required to do compression test. All the parts had dust and dirt and there would have been obvious signs of removing them.
    Thanks.

    Check for vacuum leaks and throttle cable routing. Check the hose from the power brake booster to the intake manifold.

    @windtalkerxx The antifreeze in the Pacifica is Dexcool long life antifreeze and yes it's kind of orange/red.

  • @briansmobile1

    It depends on the spark plug manufacturer. It will say on the box that the spark plug comes in. Good question!

    At least they didn't make it complicated to change the plugs or anything 😐 Very helpful video, thanks! Im getting an 05 Pacifica from my Dad and I'm my own mechanic and was looking for firing order etc. without having to take off that stupid "beauty cover". Im having to work out a catalyst under threshold PO code that popped up at 5am this morning and needed to figure out where bank one was.

    @gaffja It should say on the emissions sticker under the hood. I used Autolite platinum plugs that are pre gapped. Platinum are appropriate on cars like this that have a bit of tear down to get to the plugs.

  • @briansmobile1

    I got to replace coils for a friend of mine and I told him I would take a peek on utube and see what is needed, I am an old wrench turner, anyway the first video I clicked was a dude that said the only way you can change these coils is if you have this special star pit from the Dodge dealership. I was thinking ole buddy I can only imagine what one of those service writers at the dealership charged you for that torx bit..lol

    Hey Brian, I just bought a 2006 Pacifica last night with this motor, have had 6 Chrysler/Dodge vans since 1996, this is my first 3.5 as the vans had 3.3 or 3.8 old pushrod versions which as you know don't have all the crap in the way. I only have 48K on the new car. My 2005 Dodge GC I just sold had 183K with original timing belt! This is a great video, I guess at about 60K I will try the tune-up myself, I appreciate the Autolite Platinum and anti-seize tips. Thanks!

    @hp11208 Air filter, cabin filter, PCV valve, and belts all about the same time. (visually inspect to see if needed) Newer cars do service more like aircraft these days. They specify a list of things at a given mileage.

  • @briansmobile1
    @briansmobile1  12 лет назад

    @vicmason25 Step one. Make sure they have both a housing and thermostat available for you to put your car back together with. Step two. Realize that if they are inseparable then you have a piece of scrap metal in your hand and you'll have to buy the new components any way. Step three. Do whatever you have to, to separate the two as cleanly as possible. If it doesn't work out- exercise plan be formed in step one.

    what else needs to be replace besides the plugs when doing this tune up?

  • @briansmobile1
    @briansmobile1  12 лет назад

    @ctaggies It could be a bad Cat if it's plugged up with gunk and carbon from a contamination from fuel additives. You might try removing the cat and cleaning it in a soapy solution. H20 (water) is a byproduct of the combustion process. Water won't hurt the cat and soap won't hurt the precious metals in it or the glue either.

    How about a pinhole in the radiator? My 05 Grand Caravan was losing coolant before I sold it but it only seemed to happen when the car was parked overnight a certain way on just a slight incline.. I threw in some Stop Leak and problem solved, LOL. You may want to not do that if you are keeping the car though.

    Hi Brian a few days ago my 05 Chrysler Pacifica started to make a knocking sound we thought it was the engine. Our mechanic said that it was the upper intake manifold the little bar on the side was broken.. so we bought a new IM, had it installed but the knocking continued however the rhythm changed. Now we are stumped I was told to do a seafoam clean maybe that will help and the knocking will go away ... can you help a girl out any ideas was the diagnose wrong? What is it?

    So after changing my plugs and replacing the battery that died I started my vehicle (05 Pacifica) and it jumped to 3,000rpm and seems to be hitting a rev limiter there.
    I shut it off. Checked everything and all connections are hooked up. All lines are connected. I don't see any place that could be causing a vacuum leak. I even replaced the gasket and cleaned the surfaces for the intake plenum.
    I tried cleaning the battery posts, I made sure the throttle is closed, and I added new clamps to the PCV line. Still doing it.
    I have a check engine light on but I it was on before I started as it thinks the charcoal canister is bad. I have not checked to see if there is any new codes yet. I don't have a scanner and its no longer drivable.
    Does it need some kind of relearn?
