I just love that he doesn't get half naked to show back posture corrector. Besides, he's pretty honest when talking about this topic. I'm so glad I found his channel.
Thank you. My chiropractor has told me to do these, minus the arms. I have that hump in my upper spine from my 2 years of getting my masters degree and being being on the computer for hours a day. I didn't realize that I would get this but here I am.
Very nice; thank you! A question: For someone with a thoraco-lumbar bulging disc, where very gradually and progressively building back strength (via part 2) can be helpful, is the wall angel demonstrated here helpful, or does pushing the back against the wall create any risk? Thanks very much.
What advice would you give to somebody who literally cannot do a wall angel. It feels as though my shoulders just cannot stress enough. Is this something that will change with practice?
Only video I've seen out of clicking through dozens that demonstrates the issues people with Dowager's Hump will ACTUALLY face while attempting to this exercise.
should I move my shoulder blades throughout the movement with my arms or just keep them down? And should I pull them back too, or is just keep them down?
You're not going to hurt anything, however, you won't get all of the value out of the exercise either. If you do not engage your core slightly, there is a chance your low back will arch= your mid back will not get as upright as it could otherwise. Hope this explanation helps.
hello, my shoulder blades are always sticking out. This means when I try to do the wall angle, while I can place my shoulder blades and lower back on the wall, but I cannot place the area under between on the wall. (idk what this area is called mid back?). Is this okay?
I am 68 sneezed and fractured 3 lumbar disks, AND WAS TOLD I HAVE osteoporosis and osteoarthritis plus I have a worn out hip neurosis or some name like that. The alendronic acid for the osteoporosis stopped blood supply to my good hip and its not dead bone and crumbly.... I have had osteoporosis for over 20 years as I menopaused in my 40's. I'm terrified of getting a hump back. Unfortunately since my fourties I noticed that I was unable to stand up straight against a wall.... MY NECK IS JUTTING FORWARD VERY BADLY AND I CAN'T CAN'T GET IT BACK AGAINST THE WALL..... is there any hope of fixing this I can't come close to walk angel......the NECK IS THE PROBLEM NOT MY LOWER BACK AND PELVIS....M THEY HURT, BUT I CAN DO IT. NOT A HOPE EVEN WHEN MY THERAPIST TRIED 😮 CAN YOU HELP ME 🙏
Thank you so much for this video, this is literally the biggest goal in my life right now, go achieve this posture. Question - Am I not throwing all this hard work away when I sleep 8 hours at night on my side curled up in a fetal type of position? This is making me think I need to sleep flat on my back, like I've got my back curved, shoulders rounded, and head forward when I sleep on my side
Tondy D. When it comes to posture, don't overthink it. Work with this posture correction exercise several times/day. Sleep in positions that are most comfortable for you. Quality sleep is more important than posture for overall health, so sleep well. Remember, quality exercise and maintaining balance are important too.
Why when I do the wall angels, I feel short of breath or tightness in the chest and have to breathe in harder to get air in my lungs? Does it have to do because I have bad posture and maybe im not used to being straight like that? Would like your input! Thank you!
That's such a good question. It's because, in order to keep your back flat, you're engaging abdominal muscles, especially the obliques. This restricts your rib cage a bit making your diaphragm have to work harder. Hope this helps
This is a very safe movement. If your back hurts after doing this it is a sign you may need individualized advice. We offer online consultations, www.chiropractorkirkwood.com
Good question. It could agrivate it if you do the arms up with the external rotation. rule of thumb for this situation is if it hurts more after you're done, I would not do the full external rotation.
I've seen this exercise explained everywhere but nothing as clear as this. than kyou.
happy to hear this
I’m 73 years old with a slouch is it too late for me to correct my bad posture?

Good teacher. Thanks for explaining to us the right way. I have a lot to work on..
Thanks for walking through each element. So easy to do exercises wrong and lose the benefit!
Thanks

Well done, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Sir, thanks for the video.
Thanks for a wonderful video
You're welcome.
No need for the wrists to touch the wall?
If you can, yes. Just don't try to make your wrists touch the wall at the expense of arching your back.
Hello, thanks for the video. What exercise should I do if I can't even touch the wall with my elbow and hand?
Thanks doctor

What do I do if I just can't get my head back to the wall? 😬.
do the same type of exercise, but on the floor and have a pillow under your head. I'll make you a video soon.

Can this be done with ankles touching the wall ?
yes, but 6-8 inches away is better
I just started to try this yesterday to fix my posture, and now my lower back hurts. Is this normal?
