Ford Focus bonnet lock assembly

If you're wondering I'm a part time mechanic and know about cars, No I don't.
Recently we had to take our car to the garage to get some work done. As the Mechanic started to open the Bonnet of our 2008 Ford Focus it refused to open.
Some how he managed to open the lock without breaking the front grill. He mentioned that the lock assembly had a problem and said that if I needed it to be replaced and fixed he'd charge around £80-£100. To save costs I asked if there was any other option to which he suggested that I could actually open the Bonnet inserting a long screwdriver through the keyhole as he had taken the lock assembly out.
So came home, looked up online and got the lock assembly for £23. I wasn't sure but I thought I'll give it a go and try fixing it myself.
As you can see I don't have professional tools that are required to do the job I just had to make do with whatever I had.
