Hearing you speaking about grief in a positive fashion is really comforting to me. I lost my grandpa at the end of last year and I’m still struggling to cope, I know he is no longer in pain but every day hurts. It comforts me for you to have light when death is such a dark concept
As long as you remember the good things about him, he will stay with you. My mum passed in 2014, and she loved beautiful clouds. So whenever I see those big fluffy clouds, I think of her and smile. If I see her favorite flowers, I think of her. Whenever Table Mountain (we are from Cape Town) looks especially beautiful, she is with me.
Remember, the good things it does help to ease the pain, and the hole shrinks a bit.❤❤❤

I lost my father last year a few weeks after his birthday. I miss his cooking greatly, the man could always put something together no matter what was in the fridge. Only thing we can do is take what they taught us and continue to pass it on to anyone we care about. Much love 💛

I lost my dad about a decade ago, so I have an idea of how you feel. Always remember the good times and how much of a curmudgeon he was. 💜
I grew up in Hawaii, and I had a foster family. My Aunty (my foster mom) my favorite meal that she made was so simple but, always made me happy. Rice, fried eggs, and spam. 25 yrs since I left her care, and I still make it for breakfast at least once a week. My son loves it too.

My dad passed away a 2 years ago. I admire your strength to spend time documenting your moments with him instead of wallowing in sadness the way I did. He seemed like a really fun guy and a good friend. I am really sorry for your loss. It’s not something you ever get over, but you do learn how to be more appreciative of moments filled with love in honor of the ones that worked hard to raise and provide you with a good life. I lost my dad very suddenly almost a year ago. I'm extremely grateful for all of the random conversations and laughs, but more importantly all of the skills he taught me. I'll always carry that knowledge with me. So, when I need to DIY/repair something I feel like he's there with me.

My dad's been gone for 5 years now. And we were close. I'm so happy you had a good relationship with your dad. I hope you're doing well man! Much respect for honoring him. Wherever he is, he'll appreciate that❤🙏
I lost my dad in July 2023, so it’s coming up on a year. The grief never goes away but you learn to make room in your heart. My dad was a jokester, and had the best sense of humor. His last words to me were “I love you, so much”. He also loves to cook, and he was German. My favorite dish he taught me to cook is Roladen. Tender meat wrapped around bacon, mustard, and a pickle. He loved Asian cuisine as well and his last meal was sushi, prepared by his long time friend and sushi restaurant owner. It was the only thing he could keep down.
I’m imagining our dads meeting and sharing comfort food and cracking jokes. Be good to yourself and do your best, and follow your dreams. that’s all our pops ever wanted.
