    Thanks to your review on the kso evo's and your other videos I got inspired and ordered my first pair of kso's which arrived today. Just did a short 2k run with them and I must admit I've fallen absolutely in love with them! It's a whole new way of running but just like you've said before, it feels much more natural and enjoyable, also my natural cadence went right up with about 10 spm with the kso's. I must sincerely thank you for inspiring and convincing me for getting me into the whole barefoot running thing!

    The KSO EVO is without doubt the most comfortable running shoe I own . Started minimalist running with Merrell trail glove 2, changed a year later to the KSO EVOs , just bought a pair of Spyridons MRs to take me through the wet months for extra grip , but as soon as the better weather arrives I'll be back in the EVOs , definitely worth it , second to none regarding ground feedback 👍🏻

      do these stretch out from the tip of the longest toe. I ordered some online and my longest toe touches the end of shoe.

    Been watching a few of your videos now and damn you can sell the Vibram concept :-) Have had problems with plantar fascian (or what you call it in english) and only been running for a year, that include 4 month of rehab. Because of my high arch in my foot its hard to find shoes that don't give me problems. Currently I love the Saucony Mirage 4 as a primary shoe. Bought the KSO EVO for £45 just to have at the gym to strengthen my foot. But could not stay away from the threadmill... gave i a go at 1km and after 300 meters I was just smileing and laughing! Love the feeling of the way I ran! What an experience! And what pain in my calfs for 3 days haha
    Will slowly give these shoes a honest chanse and if they are half as good as you say in your videos I think this will be a new love for me. Found the Bakilas on sale for £30 so now I am the proud owner of those as well. Have not had a run in them but the KSO EVO feels som much better on the fot...

    Great review , I burnt through and smoothed off my soles on my Spyridon MR , they survived a tough guy marathon 5 tough mudders and all my running , I'm after a new set , I moved to Surrey and its mostly concrete and the odd track , have you tried the new KMD EVO yet? What would you suggest I go for can be fairly confusing with all the new models.

    These were great for feel, but not so much in terms of durability. I used mine for sprinting and lifting, they lasted about 6 months before they started to fall apart. Which may not be so bad considering they are so minimal! KSO treks didn't last much longer and they seemed a lot bulkier and more sturdy on first impressions.

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад

      +Karl Humphreys Hey Karl, I've found about the same - 6 months of heavy use. However 2 pairs of Vibrams a year I can live with...

    • @kh-wg9bt
      @kh-wg9bt 9 лет назад +3

      +Steve Kalclash Fitness if you consider the fact they grip your feet too. normally stress and torque exerted to shoes will be offset by the foot moving around in the shoe minimally..but with these they have a much closer relationship to the foot especially around the toes with much less wiggle room. so a big part of what makes vibrams great is probably responsible for their slightly reduced life. Just ordered my 7th pair so obviously it's not put me off! 😁

      Hmmm.. pretty much what my question was.. HIIT and plyometrics.. (occasional tarmac running in these, for trails i have Spyridons).. Spyridons are damn sturdy and built like a tank i feel..
      Can you help me understand what exactly went off in these please? (the glue gave away.. or the sole wore out.. or the upper mesh was torn etc)..

    Hi Steve, I love your review and details on each vibram out here. But as you know KSO EVO is very very thin shoes and even if someone has been running for number of years and trained for forefoot running KSO EVO can be dangerous for first Vibramers. Please be mind not everyone has hard feet like some of us has. I personally recommend start at least from vibram Bikila and working down to KSO EVO. I've seen too many people injuring their tendon by over doing them without proper transaction

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад +1

      Mew tachi Hey Mew, I do agree with you in that if a proper transition hasn't been followed then the Bikilas would be safer. I do think though that they addition ground perception offered by the KSO's would help a newbie out with their technique. As you say though, a slow and well structured transition is essential to running in any Vibrams long term.

    • @davidh5573
      @davidh5573 9 лет назад

      Steve Kalclash Fitness I agree Steve. I am new to barefoot running and my first pair of Vibrams(Dec 2014) that I am currently using are the SeeYas which are lighter and thinner than the Bikilas and I have done over a hundred miles with no issues. I think the more ground perception the lighter you are on your feet. When I go barefoot on concrete I run much lighter and much more efficient than with my SeeYas so when I run in my SeeYas that little cushioning makes me apt to run harder in those shoes. So to me I think proper barefoot running form and adequately building up your feet in the most minimal shoes is better than anything reminding us of the thick puffy trainers that makes run hard and inefficient.

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад

      SupaDave H Right on man. Yeah the more minimal the sole, the lighter the foots trike, this is so true.When I first started out barefoot running, I ran in socks only, and my foot strike was as soft and cushioned as anything!

  • @EinarsMednis
    @EinarsMednis 9 лет назад

    I saw lateral part of forefoot pad and last fingers rubber are worned out. After only 100 miles. I think it because of your bad barefoot running form. Or its vff fault? At least mine kso evo no worning signes on soles after 120 miles.

    Hi Steve, awesome videos! I have a question regarding the vibram's. I am going for my second pair (the KSO) but half way my first pair (seeya ls), around 500 km, I got pain in my achilles heel (not while running, but during the normal walks). It's not very painful but it heats up and it's stiff in the morning. I went back to my Nike but I had gotten so used to the vibram's that I really didn't want to run in those "spongy blocks" on my feet. It hasn't gotten any worse and so I added another 500 km but I want to get rid of it. What do you think is the best way without stop running (about 60 km a week)?

    My Vibram Kso Evo's are falling to bits after 100 miles.The material in-between the toes has split on both shoes.My big toe comes out the side.So disappointed.

    Just kind of remembered these exist and was considering getting some for mostly boxing in my garage. As training barefoot on mats is preffered to shoes, but at home i just have a concrete floor. But would also be using for treadmill at gym (concrete just hurts my ankles too much). Good for first time buyer?

    Hi Kalclash. Great, balanced vid as ever. You say the KSO EVOs are the most (or close to) lightest/proprioceptive/flexible minimal shoes you've worn. Have you tried the Merrell Vapour Glove and if so, how do the KSO EVOs compare? Thanks. P

    Hi, it's my first time buying vibram five fingers shoes and I'm not so sure which one is the best for me. I want to use my shoes to work (i work in a gym) but also to workout in the gym doing lifting, jumps, stop and go's and running. Which should i go with ? I looked at the V-train and KSO EVO and EVO but I'm not sure which one i should go with. If you have tips on which one I should buy it would be nice ! Thank you

    Hello Steve, fresh subscriber here! I must say I really like your channel, you deserve ten times more views :) I'm getting into minimalist/barefoot running and I decided to go for these as my first pair of fivefingers, so your review was very helpful. I wonder if you could explain me the sizing, I've heard it's different from the other models - a size bigger? I tried on the FiveFingers Classic (KSO's weren't in stock) and found size 43 the most suitable. Does it mean I should go for size 42 of KSOs? Thanks in advance!
    Keep it rolling! :)

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад

      Hey man, welcome aboard :) This is a very good question, I'll probably upload this as a separate video as many people will need to know this. Yes I found that the KSO's came up bigger than the Bikila's, so for my next pair I'll be going a size down as there was a bit of movement within the shoe when turning, which definitely isn't good.

      Steve Kalclash Fitness
      may it be different for different sizes?
      i have 3 pairs of vibrams: KMD LS, Seeya LS and KSO EVO, all in size 45, and Seeya have roomiest fit, they are almost too big, so i only wear them with socks, while KSO are the snuggest, i'd say more like 44.5 than 45

    Wassup!
    I have been running in the LUNA Sandals since more than a year now. I now want to buy a Five Fingers KSO EVO. I wear UK Size 9 in the 'conventional shoes'. Which size should I go for KSO EVO?
    Thank you for guiding again

    Hallo Steve!.
    I really had sizing issues.
    I wear 42.5Eu.
    So I 1st bought el-x 42 they were too tight.
    Then I bought the 43, still tight in some fingers.
    Then I bought the 44, this one was better, but the upper didn't embrace my heel so well, it's a little bit loose on my right heel.
    So I think that the ideal size for me would be the 43.5, but I think it doesn't exist right?
    I think that if I had bought the kso evo instead of el-x would have been better because of the lacing system.

    • @Brasilgamin
      @Brasilgamin 7 лет назад

      The next ones I want to buy is signa and v-run.
      But I'm afraid of the sizing though.
      Is the kso evo equal to v-run in terms of sizing?
      Help me in this cuzz I live in brazil and I have to order it from trekkin haha

    can someone tell me if the sole is thinner than the bikila/bikila evo? and can you tell me if the size is the same? i have a bikila size 12 but they are a bit short, can you tell me if the size is pretty much the same or a little bigger or smaller? thanks!

    i bought a pair of Bikila Evo which I love. I am thinking of getting KSO Evo for walking in rain or trails. Is the sizing same as Bikila Evo? i read some reviews that KSO Evo are snug and fit tigher than other models.

      Same as with normal shoes: avoid at all cost. Only protective working shoes with steel plates in the sole will protect against that -.- No leather or plastic or any other shoe will stop that kind of stuff. only steel plating will.

    Hello,
    I just bought these (will check out Feetus now): www.vibramfivefingers.it/product_details.aspx?model=CVT%20HEMP in my experience, plastic gear/clothing blocks my energy from discharging/dissipating to the ground to some degree, so I get hot and bothered quicker. I'm hoping these new style will be good, and actually hope they'll make a 100% canvas one one day, so it would be like a converse thing (I can't really fit into those). What do you/people think ?

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад +1

      Charlie A these look really cool! I'll have to try some myself. Yeah a fully canvas pair of VFF's would be nice for an everyday casual shoe, I'd definitely buy a pair!
