I used to own the album this is from...awesome music back in the day...precursor to new age! Ty guys for this
I own not only this one but about 100 albums by Tangerine with their solo albums from 1970 to 2020
Fantastic performance. Ive only seen them twice but the first one, in '79 absolutely blew my whole world apart. Ricochet will always and forever be my favorite TD album but i also played the hell out of this back in the day.
ah just see the concert is before 2015 Edgar Froese is still there the man was just great and years ahead with his music.
Been listening to "TANGERINE DREAM " for years!!! Always surprises me😅😊
I find this track tremendous from start to finish. Pity it was recorded so you don't get the full sound of the guitars though.
I love how, throughout, Edgar is watching them all like a hawk. He's the "Daddy!" More prolific than Zappa in compositions, a massive catalogue for newbies to explore, with no stupid lyrics either
😜
Glad you both enjoyed it
Definitely an inspiring listen!
great track had the pleasure of seeing them live in the 1980's
I saw this tour in Berkeley in 1977. Still have the program. Laserium was used for the light show and they aimed the beams at revolving mirror columns that looked like a prism. I can’t believe nobody filmed it.
the band filmed home movie footage of the laser (they never thought the lasers worked that well with the music for this tour) the idea was that they were going to compose music to the footage
Goblin Club, Cloud Burst, Encore, Poland, ....SO MANY cool tracks!
STRATOSFEAR is from 1976 by the way
and I might have about 100 albums or even more with the solo albums of the three original band members.
Edgar Froese
Peter Baumann
Christopher Franke
until 1970 there was also Klaus Schulze Unfortunately also already deceased who has continued solo with the music and was also a great artist of which I also have some albums.
The German band Tangerine Dream my favorite band since the end of the 70s which was founded in 1967 and with the death of 2015 band founder Edgar Froese no longer has original members from 1967 to 2015 Since then continued by a younger member.
They got their name from The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds". The line "Tangerine trees and marmalade skies". Edgar thought it sounded like Lennon was singing "Tangerine dream", thought it sounded cool, and named the band after it.
Tangerine dream are amazing i heard of them in the late 80's when i was living just outside seattle
Everything I've seen from this show is fantastic!
Rest in peace Edgar! Your a legend!
Tangerine Dream comes from misheard lyrics on the Beatles Lucy in the sky with diamonds...Tangerine Trees
What? No drugs?! Wait, it is drugs kinda ☺️ thanks Paul!

It's StratosFEAR. Cool recommendation. I never heard 'em until a year or 2 ago. I'd guess electronica owes a debt to TD. Slightly too symphonic for my ears but overall nice grooves as they weave in and out of passages.
Stratosfear
check out sula bassana if you are into berlin school, or electric moon. they are right in the berlin school [tangerine dream, klaus schulze..] tradition.
Lordy it's the sequencer kings! Best go get you some Laibach
This is not Tangerne Dream, listen to the Virgin years, from 1974 to 1978
one of my favourite groups in last 50 years, so I know what I'm talking about
Name from the BEATLES, "Tangerine dreams, and marmalade skies
It's Tangerine Trees which Edgar misheard as Tangerine Dreams
Nice
I'm sorry. You have been misled. That was not Stratosfear. That was a horrible rendition of a classic, destroyed by drums, saxophones, kitsch guitar licks and sundry other abominations. Please do the right thing and listen to the original. As you do, remember it was 1976 - I know, before you were born. The whole album (which I urge you to listen to end to end in one session) is a masterpiece of electronic music. It stands up there with the likes of Dark Side the Moon in terms of its perfection. Then come back and tell us your reaction.
Video Dream Mixes, Rubycon, The Turning Of The Tide, Graffiti Street are bangers ow you'll both love
Looking waaaay too hard for some arcane, esoteric counter-culture significance to the use of the word 'tangerine'?!!? Perish the thought. YOU?!! Pfaugh. Piffle. Pshaw.
Possibly. Hmmm...😮😊😂❤
Not the original studio version. Too alienated. Go back to field one.
A lot of guitar bullshit on this live rendition. Nothing beats the original 1976 studio version !
Yes - but in a live setting....this one is better visually and musically.
the latest version of the band now do the best live version
Totally agree. I cant watch this.
