I agree a 1000%. Having worked for Apple and knowing a bit directly at how they do things, I know for sure AI is being the main focus for Apple for at least the past 5 years and I’m patiently waiting bc I know Siri will jump from the worse to possibly the best assistant yet just like they did with the M1 chip.

you’re definitely onto something here. Apple has been slowly taking their time to get it ‘right’. they want to make Siri truly USEFUL in a variety of different contexts when it comes to AI. this takes time. slapping an interface on that just spits out information when you ask it questions probably isn’t something that Apple views as truly valuable. there’s always more and you know when Apple does it the right way, everyone else will follow.

Being told ‘you can’t do that because your driving’, forcing you to actually pick up the phone and do it yourself is a complete joke. Whoever made that decision is truly incompetent.
Is Apple fully utilizing the neural engines in the M1/M2/A15, etc.? If Apple can develop AI services directly on devices and computers it may give them advantage over competitors.
In my experience Siri still handles natural language parsing better than any of the other assistants, especially when it comes to home control and personal information management. Siri is the only assistant who can parse things like “turn on the lights in the lounge, kitchen, and hallway” and do what it’s asked, with no weird backchat.
I agree with you. Although Siri technically does less then others, its voice recognition, especially when I pause or say things like “hum” or repeat a word or too correcting it, Siri does a better job at understanding it than Google for example.
They did still livestream the events before COVID, they were just actual live events instead of pre-recorded premieres. I'd be very surprised if they stopped streaming them.

You can see this in the example of Apple nowhere to be seen in foldables, cameras, screen bump war and now AI war and only recently started being visible regarding its AR/VR ambitions when everyone else has failed . Just my two cents and I am ok to be completely wrong!
I think it’s a mix of both, because they were early releasing the first smartphone that had full internet, and Airpods, and the original ipod with a hard drive, and making things like airdrop before their competitors
