Hey Mambo, I'm finally going to Peru on Friday. Again, I will be in Lima in the Miraflores area (like you recommended). Man, I'm looking forward to going. It seems like EVERYBODY and EVERY source said that Peru is nice. I even talked to a Waitress today at the Golden Corral today and she was from Chile was telling me about it lol. She told me to try something that starts with a "Ce" when I'm in Peru. I forgot what it was. But anyway, just thought I'd mention this and congratulations on your new house. LOL When I get to Peru, I'm going to make my own video about what it's like. I'm going to compare it to Thailand, etc. Thanks for the ideas, info and inspiration.
@@HE360 You almost can't go wrong with the food in Lima. Peruvians don't mess around with their comida. Just be careful with street food as a foreigner (you may get sick), and avoid tourist traps like Rosa Nautica (the one that looks like a mansion on the water on the coast of Miraflores). Food is great, service is great, but the prices are nuts-and to drive home the point that it's a gringo trap, they even charge a compulsory "tip" of 18% (not normal in Peru at all). Even the taxi driver waiting outside tried to charge me triple what the fare should have cost, despite the fact that I was with a Peruvian.
@@Jimulacrumthanks for the advice. Yeah, I had a bit of experience with some of those types of foreign traps and people over charging when I lived in China. Yes, especially taxi drivers who would take the longer path to rev up the cost of the taxi meter. They only did that when it was just me and not when my Chinese friends were around. I also had to be careful with the food in China too; where I went to a "fancy" restaurant and they didn't cook my Blue Cheese hamburger properly. It took.a few days to recover from that. So, I'll keep what you said in mind. Thanks again for the tip.
Haha that’s mad funny, I’ve actually never been to Missouri, I gotta make it out there I have a bunch of friends there. Ever think about visiting g Peru again?
@@mambokambo of course!! I was in Lima in March. And I miss Lima, my sister, friends, walking to the market, dealing with the cars 😂. Columbia is a small city, I like it because there is no the chaos like a big city. And it’s a cosmopolita city due the MIZZOU. I visited Cuzco, some years ago and I felt my body light, a different kind of energy. Was a good experience. I will come back to Cuzco some day. 🥰
Hot water isn’t super common, it’s definitely a luxury for the lucky or the those near high tourism areas. Gas heaters exist but arnt common at all in my experience
I am I’m still pretty decently close to Cusco, I’m in a much more touristy area now for better or worse 😂 good for business though. I prefer to be around locals, but I have been enjoying being here so far

Yeah Lima holds a real spot in my heart for sure, but I have really grown to love this little town of mine 😂 I hope you enjoy Cusco 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Is that a hot water heater in the background on the wall? Is hot water (not just some electric thing in the shower) common in Peru?
