R[1]. This has the tendency to create fouls. Imagine, as soon as you start the countdown at 3, athletes will start to change their grip to get advantage. They are guaranteed 2 more counts to adjust before go. In the three count leadup, athletes can also micro-initate, prompting their opponent to move to try to counter the feel of a different resistance in the grip. Basically there is too much distraction that can happen and too much jostling that could happen from when the ref is happy with the grip. Not every 3 count will be perfectly regular and the athlete or their competitor might complain that the countdown was rushed at some point and therefore they 'missed' the start. If you wanted to argue over a replay, then you would have to judge two things: movement/hand position before the go, and a 'fair' intervaling of the referee's count. Having the simple 'one count', or (GO), will help you to review replays, as they will tend toward having less pre-emptive starts timed by the athletes. You can focus on movement/handposition alone.
@@silkywilky7913 No, it elemenates cheating and false starts. If you change your grip it is a warning/foul. If you do start earlier, it is a warning/foul. Imo it will reduce cheating a lot. In many many matches you notice how an Armwrestler can´t start how it should be, because it is completely luck sometimes. A countdown would be the same for everyone. The rhythmical part is important. The speed not so. As long you can predict the Go, all it correctly. If you do 3.. 2...... 1..... Go! it would be wrong. It should be 3... 2... 1... Go! all the time. What we have now is the worse. @@Da-iken R[2]. Rhythm is a direct consequence of speed. Whenever have you heard music that when the speed changes, the rhythm stays the same? You are introducing more hardships onto the referee. They already have three main things to look for before starting the match. They are looking for center table, no moving, and 'fair' hand position. If they deem these things true then they will start the match. Now let's add the fourth: the countdown. Even though everything is correct to start right now, I will now need to start the countdown. (This will add to the length of the matches approximately 3 seconds for every time the countdown is interrupted.) I have started the count and now must continue in a proper way without changing rhythm, and I have to verify that no one has moved from the current (already achieved starting position) until my countdown finishes, ensuring the first three qualifiers over an extended amount of time. It actually sounds harder to me. You also have made the referee potentially more liable for an incorrect start even if they succesfully had a fair count but did not catch/call a foul or adjustment in that time.
It is not 3 seconds, you will count it way faster, but in a rhythm where you can clearly catch the "Go". Imo it is not hard or anything like that. The Armwrestlers also learn to stay, otherwise they will go into fouls and lose. Also the Armwrestlers can more "relaxe", because they know when the starts comes. But actually not.
