Good Saturday morning Mike! Sunny and 29 degrees currently in southeast Iowa at 08:31 hours! Should be 47 as predicted today for us here in southeastern Iowa! That was a quick efficient stop this morning for number 5! I was a little surprised when the engineer blew the horn for a couple crossings after leaving the station! I didn’t see any traffic attempting to cross. I’ll have to rewatch it again! I’ll leave for Ottumwa about 9:30 central time for my car service at 11. What with the road construction still ongoing 😒, I want to allow time to make the 53 mile drive! Have a great Saturday out your way Sir! I definitely am here! I’ll probably check out the Warehouse Bar BQ for lunch across the highway from the dealership after the car service is done! Mark in Iowa.
Good morning, Mark; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. We are at 43 F. at 1045 MST. I noticed the crossing arms had reset and the lights were off as they departed. Didn't take too long to activate again. Better safe than sorry and lose a job over not blowing a horn at an intersection. I hope the dealership work didn't take too long. I have an issue much the same with a drive to Greeley for that type of work. 50 miles of an "undermaintained" highway US34 from here to Greeley and back. Oh well. I hit up Culver's in Greeley for a meal. I do like the fish sandwich there. About time for them to have the Walleye sandwich out again. Yum! Hope your trip was good. Please take care and stay safe back there!
Good morning, David; Thank you for stopping by and the comments. It was a little more mundane today. I like it like that once in a while. Have a great Saturday up there. Please take care and stay safe
Good morning Mike: Nice video this morning. No little green reflection this morning. Looks cold there this morning. Can’t believe all ready 7 days into December. My day is pretty quiet ,not much happening. Enjoy your coffee and breakfast. Have a great day.😊😊😊😊😊
Good morning, Gerald; Thanks for stopping by and the comments today. There was a little inner lens refraction but nowhere near as much as the past two days. And we got a good look at the Zephyr as it rolled by. Yes, it was a bit nippier this morning. But it is warming nicely with 43 F. at 1025 MST. Still have to rinse the PU off as it really has a mud and dust look. I keep looking back t how fast the year has gone. Wow! Anyway, I hope that you have a great Saturday down there. Please take are and stay safe!
Good morning, Ken; Thank you for dropping by and the comments. It is warming up out here. This is the "warm before the storm" as we are slated to have a bit of a snowstorm Mon=day evening. Have a great Saturday back there. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good evening, Mike. I would like to travel to Pearl Harbor one day and visit the USS Arizona Memorial. In addition to loving trains, I also love history.
Good evening, Gary; Thank you for tuning in and the comments. I have been in Pearl once in my Naval career. The memorial was closed the day I as there. Like you, I do enjoy reading and studying history of our nation. Too bad those studies aren't held on the elementary and high schools as one were in the core studies. Have a great evening. Pease take care and stay safe!
Good evening, Paul; I thank you for dialing in along with the comments. I appreciate it. Have a great evening over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike. Quick and quiet stop today, except for the horn music leaving the station. Must have been something on or about the tracks. Perhaps it was those dogs again. Thanks and stay well.
Good morning, Dan; Thank you for stopping by along with the comments. I appreciate it. They were stopped just short of triggering the crossing to stay activated and it had timed out prior to their departure today. It does happen once in a while. That horn music was really crisp this morning. Anyway, have a great Saturday afternoon and evening. Please take care and stay safe!
Good evening, Ken; Thanks for dropping by and the comments. Yep. I wasn't prepared for either event. That is what keeps me going back. Have a great evening back there. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike from 32 sunny mid Tenn. Yeah that horn music all across FM was a little unusual. Do you have mechanical problems with crossings or maybe just a " newbie" engineer? Today 12/7 "Pearl Harbor Day" is almost forgotten but us guys in older group well remember the true meaning of them. I hope with a new president with courage and wide awake will prevent this from happening again. Your US Navy tour is appreciated. Enjoy your day!
Good afternoon, Ben; Thank you for dropping by along with the comments. It has just gone thru 43 F. out here at 1046 MST. I do feel at least a 50F. day. The crossing guard and lights had timed out and is way too close to where the engines stop to activate in time when they roll out of town. In the video they can be seen activating as the train goes past. It also activated the set at Main Street behind the train. There is always something. LOL! I won't forget Pearl Harbor just as I won't forget the World Trade Center. I am aware of just two WWII vets still living here in Fort Morgan. Their comrades have passed on leaving a few of us to remember the "Greatest Generation" and what they did for us. Anyway, I hope that you have a great Saturday afternoon and evening back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Hello Mike,, hope all is well with you sir. Seems like when it rains it pours .I wondered if it might be overwhelming trying to respond to the comments.😊then I had phone problems.I'm not checking for mistakes so please bear with me.I had asked if Ric was ok, I had not hears him in so long or mayhe he was just quiet.Missed you both Have a blessed day up there.😉👋😎💥💕

Anyway, I hope that you have a great Saturday afternoon and evening down there, Please take care and stay safe! 🤓👋👌👍
Hi Mike! Fine job covering the arrival and departure of #5. My first post on your new address. Thanks also for Pearl Harbor reminder. I have uncles who fought in WW II. One was in the Marines and saw the battle strategy for Tarawa unfold from USS Montpelier, and another served on the dangerous North Atlantic shipping routes. One technical question, if you please. I have used Movies and TV to trim videos, give the trimmed video a new file name as save it as an mp4. Now, for about three weeks, I cannot complete this process for any new video. Any thoughts? Are you using different software to ensure you videos get trimmed, saved and changed to mp4 so you can post here?
Good evening, Mark; I thank you for dialing in and the comments. I have had the honor of meeting 3 survivors of Pearl Harbor at state VFW conventions. They along with many of the participants in actions during WWII have passed away and I feel that we all need to remember what they did for this nation. They were the "Greatest Generation". My father was a Korean vet. They served in some of the harshest environments. My Windows 10/11 desktop stopped me from editing over 2 years ago. The new desktop seems to have that ability restored. They also have an editing program called "Clip Champ". Itis installed on both of the desktops. I have not used it but did get into the learning program it contains. I'm not too hip on those yet. The issue I had with RUclips was not length but format in M as I was shooting in ultra 2160 and not the 1080 format. Once I reverted to the 1080 format with the new camera, I have not had an issue in uploading. The Sony camera (AX100) was shooting in 2160 and RUclips accepted that then all at once stopped without prior notice. They still will not accept any upload from the Sony cameras I own. Anyway, what leaves my Canon is in MP4 1080 format and goes directly from the SD card to RUclips. Good luck figuring your issues out. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Jay; Thanks for tuning in and the question. The Zephyr had stopped just short of that crossing and the system timed out. It activated again just as the train was reaching the crossing and can be arms can be seen dropping into final down position and they depart. That horn music was really crisp this morning. Must have been something in the air. Like cold! LOL! Have a great Saturday afternoon and evening. Please take care and stay safe!
