    As a newbie, this was VERY useful! I’ve got a 340 and the dual tones were really confusing me and was digging A LOT of iron compared to good stuff!! Great vid! Thank you!

      Just an update: having watched this video I went out again and only dug 2 bits of iron everything else was non ferrous! Excellent tips! 🎉

    • @FiREJJI

      You can use jewelry mode with iron notched out, fot the best results. And if you have doubt about tones (intrerupted or dropping sound), you can turn on iron with one press on the horseshoe to validate if is iron or not (id from 0 to -6). Dual tones like 12-1, or 1-12, or maybe 1-10, 13-1 can be something like wire (i found wired gold ring with dual tone 1 and 10) so they are worth digging. Good luck!

      It can be frustrating at times but I went through the same scenario but I got the proper digging shovel and hand tools and it’s sooo much easier plus having a wand to locate the item in the hole or plug is a game changer for us diggers!

    Good video - each detector has different quirks and Vanquish and Equinox are similar in the way they can almost fool on ferrous - the almost great tone on ferrous is clearly shown here - great vid. (p.s. in the title - no apostrophe in cows)

    what exactly do you mean to see if its more than 50% iron tone? You mean go to all metal mode, then see if iron is more dominant over regular tones?

    • @TheStaffordshireSearcher
      @TheStaffordshireSearcher  3 года назад +4

      You are exactly right, the reason being is when the target is very very deep Iv experienced a lot of jumpy targets or even iron tones on them and yet hammys or silvers have popped out of the hole.

    just traded my old garrett euro ace 350 in today and bought a vanquish 540, took it out on the same piece of land where i had some coins and a ring last week and i'm wondering if i've made a mistake getting the 540, i've never dug so much old iron that i didn't see with the euro ace, the 540 may be a more advanced machine but for me at the moment it's a pain, i suppose i'll get used to it but the ace was easier to use i'm sure, hay ho, !!

      @@TheStaffordshireSearcher hi Shane once again, 7 months on and with the weather being so bad around here for a while not much digging done, in the mean time i got a couple of permissions within walking distance of my home and tried one of them the other day and found a two pence piece and an old horse shoe and an aching back for my troubles, the land is old farm pasture land on the moor top 1000 ft above sea level in west yorkshire and as far as i know it's always been used for grazing sheep and as such so i don't think i stand much chance of finding much of importence, but it's a start i suppose, i would like to pick your brains so if i could contact you directly it would be good as talking to the metal detecting dealers dosen't seem to get me anywhere, i'm only on face book on my computer as i don't have a smart phone, ( a digital age luddite i suppose ) if you want to contact me that way, or whatever, cheers.

    • @TheStaffordshireSearcher

      They take a little learning the tones and noises but once you master it you’ll be able to identify the differences, and you will be able to keep up with the nox all
      Day long. Iron has a grunt on the machine and a find has a ping so it’s easy to tell between the two

  • @Jaysin13
    @Jaysin13 2 года назад +1

    Thanks man! I got my 540 about a month a go and I was on the same path too. I would recommend that you always kick on the iron to hear the quality of the tones as well. Great advice!

    I want to know what you would get, if you would swing a Nokta legend or a EQ 800/900 over some of these. I would bet 90% of time you would get an accurate reading. Isn't a juming id a sign of a bad detector, when there is one item in the hole.

    My 340 gives a constant clean tone and it's just a can of old food or something aluminum or deep iron does not pick up the iron in horse shoe

    • @TheStaffordshireSearcher
      @TheStaffordshireSearcher  8 месяцев назад

      It shouldn’t pick up any iron but unfortunately any machine you have when your pushing its limit will pick up iron with a circle ⭕️ in it as it bounces the signal back and falses, you’ll also find iron with very sharp points give off a false tone every now and then normally very high tones.

    • @TheStaffordshireSearcher
