    Great video Will! You have a lot of good points on why a Moducase is worth it! Although as someone who is at an earlier age in collecting it just doesn't seem worth spending a couple thousand on a display when I could use those funds elsewhere. That all being said, I went the diy route and used the Home Depot garage shelf made with acrylic sheets following Pop Culture Living Room's tutorial. So far it works great and most importantly looks nice and I'm satisfied with it. It definitely would've been easier to go the route of buying a premade display tho.

    Those cases are definitely an investment. I’m a pretty handy person with tools. I will try my hand at building a case using some MDF board and glass. I know sometimes these projects can take time and end up costing about half of what just buying one would be so I will build one to find out the cost and time . That will determine whether I buy a moducase or not. Thanks for the video.

    I decided to go w/ Moducases right from the start which led me down a path of collecting w/o displaying for a few years. Eventually I got my first order only to realize along the way I would need more and had to wait it out for that second order to arrive before putting it altogether. Now I have a house that looks like a warehouse lol because I never stopped buying but I'm slowly chipping away at the backlog. I already know I'll need another round of cases so just placed it during their flash sales event which helps a lot on the overall amount spent. I'm hoping I'll have my original cases filled in by the time these come so I can roll right into the next wave. Even though waiting for 1.5 years on the first order and about the same for the second wave delayed me a bit I don't regret it since these cases are that good. We liked them so much my 13 year old has a sixth series wall combo for his LEGO. Spot on list of pros and cons on this vid Will. Thanks for sharing!

    So I 100% agree Muduspace is the best display case, if you can not build a solid one yourself. (ie. justing trying to build a Moduspace) However, for my MONO that I got, I had to keep asking for updates on it even after it shipped. Having heard nothing for quite a while. (about three months) After it came my LED strip light set was broken so they offered to order me another set. Again, I had to stay on top of it, first they said I would get it after three weeks, after 4 I sent them an email. Then they said it was in the US and will be shipped out by the end of the week. (That was back on October 7th, I have not sent them anything since, and I still do not have it in.)
    Sorry for the rant, and maybe it is just me having issues and I am use to "amazon" style communication, but I feel as though I have needed to keep track of the order myself or else iI would never get it.

    Definitely the next step for my collection display setup. Beyond the time it takes from order to delivery, the main reason i have yet to invest in those is the lack of local distribution. The cases themselves are not cheap and, when you add shipping and import fees, it becomes quite prohibitive. A partner based in the EU would likely help in the decision process, push me over the fence and convince me to click on the order button.

    there's no denying Moduspace Displays are beautiful looking. Having that Museum feel at home is just amazing as a collector. The only issue is these aren't readily available. If you have to wait more than a year for them then Collectors will just look elsewhere. it's about $1200 for a x4 tier shelf which isn't bad but it's not cheap either. I went back and forth if I wanted to wait on these and instead went the custom shelf route because I can have it today with my figures displayed and not in boxes. If you put in the work then you can have Displays that are just as good looking imo

    I think that every collection I've seen with Moducases looks classy af. I have two Monos on order right now and am looking forward to having them. I did have a whole wall unit on order and...here is my problem with Moduspace: The wait time isn't just inconvenient...it can be collection stifling.
    I ordered my wall unit in February of last year. The whole thing was that they were working on getting their shipping times down to around 6 months. I had 14 figures, one vehicle on order, 20 more figures on order, and was planning on adding a second vehicle later on. So the cases I ordered should have been future proofing. As the planned shipping date had gotten close, they emailed me saying that it would be December instead of September/October when they shipped. What's a couple more months right? So I was fine with that. Then they had the warehouse flood due to the faulty sprinkler system. Then the shipping date was pushed back to maybe June of this year. I tried to hold on and wait it out...but at that point I had received my 22 Batmobile...I had also gotten the 66 Batmobile...I'd ordered the Batwing...my 14 figures had already grown to 25...and all I had was ONE DETOLF. So now, what should have been future proofing was only just big enough to handle the figures and the vehicles that I would have had when the cases arrived. Because now I had to wait another 6 months for shipping...and then another 3 months for the cases to make their way across the ocean. I didn't have that kind of time. And I had spent my display budget already on the Moducases. I needed display space RIGHT THEN. So I emailed them and told them I had to cancel. And they did refund me my entire cost...after a brief back and forth about poor warehouse maintenance.
    I had to get garage racks...and I had to get acrylic...which is NOT easy to do where I live. I had to get magnetic tape and electrical tape and weather stripping and lights and all that shit...and then I had to put it all together...WHICH I HATED. I'm still mad at this damn case. It doesn't look all that great. It does the job, but the time and effort and frustration of doing it all...especially knowing that I should have had the cases I wanted by now...really pisses me off. But it was that, or have an entire collection of not inconsiderable size sitting in boxes in my kitchen for maybe 9 months...maybe more.
    I still want a proper Moduspace setup like I had planned...but I'm not gonna do that for a long damn time because of all the shit I had to go through to put this garage rack together...a rack that I honestly don't even like.
    Oh and in the interim I've had to buy two more Ikea pieces to house additional figures. So now I'm taking up MORE space with lesser displays.
    My experience tells me that it is not possible to buy nice without buying twice. Not with regard to Moduspace. They do great work, from what I've seen of other people's collections. And I'm glad that they're doing smaller cases that are a quicker push out now because I was hoping to get something from them that maybe emulated the Detolf more. But the impossible wait time just doesn't lend itself to practicality. Unless you decide to buy them a year or so before you start collecting...lol show me someone with THAT kinda foresight.
    Great looking displays, no doubt...better than any alternative I've seen...but where they lack really hurts all of that. And the damnable part is I'm likely gonna eventually order another large display from them. But that won't be for a long time, and it'll only be to upgrade what I've been using. So again...I'm still buying other lesser stuff...and still dealing with all that mess to do it.
    Moduspace is not a first display by any means....they aren't able to push out their product fast enough to make it viable in that space. And until they get that locked down, everyone will continue to "buy twice."

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  6 дней назад +1

      Excellent points. Really enjoyed reading this. You make very fair points here because Moduspace's wait times require collectors wait a long time to get their forever display.

  • @Dan-1066
    @Dan-1066 6 дней назад +1

    I own a few units and they're great but there are a couple more downsides IMO. The first is the acrylic attracts dust easily especially if your house has lower humidity. The second s that unlike a Detolf or similar glass display unit, the view toward the rear of the lower shelves is obstructed due to the presence of the horizontal framing and the opaque floor and roof of the units. But those are nitpicks in what is otherwise an excellent display option. I do prefer my other units which are custom black powder coated aluminum displays with glass doors and shelving, basically upscaled Detolfs with dust proofing, LED strip lighting and much sturdier glass shelves but they also cost 50% more for the equivalent amount of display space so value for money Moducase is hard to beat.

    • @WillFoxification

      If I may, I don't jave anyone look at my collection. Who don't appreciate it. But it is spread through the house and what I've noticed is when I switched from Museum displays into action displays or scene displays, whatever you want to call it.
      The basic hand built detolfs on pedestals with lighting, the fee I still have up in common rooms, got a LOT more attention now that there is a background, a floor 3d printed and painted accessories and well posed action as basic as Obi vs Vader or a Fallout Power armor suit bs Darth Sidious. I have a clone orgy tjat gets a lot of attention, and 1/6 scale targaryen playboy in Tyrions love shack :-)
      My point is to have fun with it it's for you anyways. No one else! But you may find that sticking something in a box and putting a light on it foesnt work for you, so maybe change it up! I sure am and I cannot wait to post it for you guys!

    Thanks for the vid, I love these little departures from the main stuff, Strangers and all that! And your presentational manner as well. For some reason many of the 1/6 YTers think that canned/signature "lines" are somehow more professional and regurgitate basically a form-letter format. Like commercial radio station heavy formatting or something. I guess people like it as it's obviously successful which perpetuates it but I think it's a little lazy and naive (I mean how many people say "without further ado" and such in real life?!!), like faux-professionalism or something. Just be personable! We're all here for the figs not the radio DJ close-miked stylings!

      I found these rare videos very helpful, whereas you seem to toxic.
      90% of RUclips vids are on displays which are ghetto fabulous. I am a a more mature collector, with a bjgger budget than 10 years ago. His mod vids are #1 on RUclips, I know this.
      I needed d good information about the best money can buy, before I buy. Understand?
      I also find nothing in your comment of value. Not sure why I replied. Except to say insinuating false accusations and hating on stuff that isn't forr YOU is poor form. Trolling even.
      Check.your facts and understand that people like me have dustprpofed and lighted up more detolfs and other cheaper cases then we care to admit.
      Some of us are ready to.up our game, don't buy twice, buy nice!

    Having Moducases is a great thing to have if you plan on moving somewhere. The components will easily fit back into the shipping boxes your Moducases were delivered in. Storing boxes is hard for some, but you shouldn't skimp on your investment, and keep your stuff secure when moving. The alternatives are so inferior, and the price & waiting time are completely worth it.
